If getting useful information for you is all your Congress Member can do, that information alone is worth the effort. Knowledge is power, and lord knows we need some more power around here.

well, you may have been ranting Sir and ive read all of them so far and aside from the fact that i enjoyed reading them, i cant deny the fact that you were trying to be helpful by encouraging members to do something aside from just complaining. You have said any possible way one should do or try to make things going or to get their cases be noticed & to get looked at.

sadly though, there are people here that does nothing but chase these posters who means no harm but express their frustration. they dont even say any single piece of advice, havent seen any actually, but mostly just insult and sarcasm.

I've noticed that most of those who do nothing but chase others are those who already have their now wife in the country. Funny how they forget the long wait and pain once they get what they want. Some of them went through the process when it was a very short wait too so really have no clue on how it is now in regards to the wait and feelings people have.

I have not forgotten how long it took to the K-1 visa for my wife. I didn't get frustrated because I knew it would not be a quick process. And if I felt that my K-1 visa was going to slowly I would have done what I thought would be necessary to get it expedited but what I would not have done is create more than than one thread where I complain about how long the process is taking.

of course.but considering how long and painful the wait is,people tend to get their hopes up easily when a door opens.

at this point my only goal is to tell people what to expect and what not to expect, thats all.

I try my best to get people to be aggressive with the government on this, but I do it best when I am calm.

Some people will still sit and be passive, and as much as I cringe when I see them do that, there is really nothing I can do light a fire under their seats. They are the USCIS's dream come true. USCIS barks "Go away", and they do.

I refuse to be USCISs dream come true. I do what I need to make my own dreams come true instead. And I wish everybody here would do the same.

If you guys don't like each other's posts, don't read them.

And don't claim that the people that think a lot of the complainers need to 'suck it up' already have their loved one here. I, for one, do not. I just think there are more useful things to do with your time than complain on a 'mostly' anonymous Web forum. It won't hurry your case along, and won't do much else than create an environment that allows you to wallow in negative feelings.

During our petition we recieved an RFE, we sent them the information they required, and they sent, I dont remember, I think a letter, but possibly an email saying that they recieved it and they would have our answer within 60 days. They held true to there word, and within the 60 days ( it was around 45 - 53 days ) we recieved our approval - NoA2.

I know its really hard to sit and wait, Ive been there just like many others have, but there is a process to follow, and they have advised you of the 60 days. So sit back, try to relax and Im sure you will have your answer in this time frame, if you dont, then you are going to take the next steps, which is calling your local congressperson, but until then just try not to get frustrated.

Guys

After calling them after my 5 month period, I put in a request. I called them up today again saying what is happening, the call was escalated to tier 2 and ended up speaking with an Immigration Officer Morales.

He said right now Vermont is processing July 10, 2010 - this is absolute BULLSHIT. I saw someone wrote on visa journey about a month ago where he was informed the same date. They are big fat liars.

I was told my case is under review, what the hell they are doing for last 5 months now. And I got an email few days ago saying I will get something within "60 days" - what should I do? Any suggestions??

Did anyone get any NOA2 lately for July filers?

My timeline is as follows:

I129F sent - 7/23/2010

NOA1 - 7/28/2010

Touched - 10/3/2010

If you check out June, May, April, March Filers, you can see many of us have to wait 6 months. Anyone that calls in will get the same BS information. It seems, it just good or bad luck of where our package is in the deep boxes at USCIS, or NVC........

What they were doing for the last five months was working on other people's petitions for a wide variety of different kinds of immigration benefits, most of which were probably filed before yours.

When they say they are working on petitions from a specific date, all that means is that's the date on the last box of petitions that was pulled from the shelf. If your petition was in a box dated before that then an adjudicator probably already has your petition. Does that mean they've already looked at it? No. It just means it's in the box with the other petitions that adjudicator is currently working on. If that adjudicator happens to be loaded down with difficult petitions, or gets distracted to process RFE's sent for previously processed petitions, or gets temporarily assigned to do something more pressing then K1 visa petitions, or takes a scheduled vacation, then your petition is going to wait. When that adjudicator finally gets to working on your petition then it usually doesn't take more than 15 or 20 minutes to adjudicate it, UNLESS there's a problem. Maybe there is a problem with a background check, causing your petition to be placed in a holding bin awaiting results of the background check. Maybe they need to send an RFE for something. Any number of things could cause your petition to be set aside until everything needed to adjudicate it is available.

The point is that the petitions arrive in chronological order, and get scheduled into the system in boxed sets which are roughly in chronological order. Once that box is pulled by an adjudicator then almost anything can happen to slow down processing on your petition, and many other petitions received after yours could end up getting processed first. It never hurts to check and make sure they haven't lost your paperwork. If it goes beyond the stated processing time then you can contact your congressman or senator and see if they can get some status information for you.

Other than that, be patient. You're going to be dealing with these bureaucrats for a few more years.

To add to some of Jim comments, those that are waiting can get some insight of what goes on behind USCIS doors, the process, congressional inquires, etc as well as some tips:

THAT is the difference. They gave you a time frame and stuck to it. They don't do that the first time around, and that is what is getting people pissed off. In this regard, the lack of people skills from an agency that deals exclusively with people is really astounding. First the tell you "about" 5 months. Then the 5 months go by, and then they tell you "Oh, the 5 months is actually the minimum. Check back in 30 days, and we will have something." Then you wait the 30 days, only to hear "Check back with us in 60 days". And then they wonder why their assertion as to time frames no longer has any credibility and people get pissed off.

It is very unusual that any moderator needs to take this course of action in the K-1 and other immigration related forums and I find this disturbing. I am issuing private warnings as well, but the public warning is that personal attacks, judgmental posts and off-topic type of comments are not acceptable on Visa Journey. Discuss the contents of the posts - do not engage in back and forth bickering with each other about attitude or rights of what to say or not to say or take personal jabs at other posters. If you have nothing constructive to add to the discussion, then do not participate - it is not up to another reader not to read your post - it is up to you to post appropriately.

I'm with you, as people should be able to rant here. I should know, as I have been one of the biggest ranters, comparing USCIS to George Orwell's 1984, the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, North Korea, and Iran. Since a very calming person chilled me out (thank you Coconuts), I am trying hard to stay that way and so far succeeding.

well, you may have been ranting Sir and ive read all of them so far and aside from the fact that i enjoyed reading them, i cant deny the fact that you were trying to be helpful by encouraging members to do something aside from just complaining. I think you can complain and still be supercool! It's admittedly a frustrating process and part of the purpose of this forum is to seek support from others who are in the same situation. I personally get a lot out of reading these posts as I am also at my wits end sometimes during this long, painfull wait. Also I think it's especially hard right now for those of us that filed in the summer when the wait time was 100 days shorter and (maybe ingorantly) hoped we would go down the same path that has now been stretched beyond the horizon.

Supercool- you're still okay with me! I know we've been hearing it a lot lately but hang in there, some day soon in the future we'll be looking back on this. That's what keeps ME going.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I'm of similar timeline as the original filer of this thread. Also touched on 10/03/10. Yes, I do believe the process is nerve racking especially because we long for our spouses. Patience seems tone the only solution, I guess. Having said that, how does one reach a live agent to talk to? I called customer support line listed on the NOA1 several times without finding any option to talk to alive agent. How do you file a complaint or reach a live agent to, at least, hear something about why the petition hasn't been approved? Thanks in advance.

The best way to reach a live agent is when you call customer support, choose the prompt that say you don't have the receipt number for NOA1. A live rep comes on, tell them the receipt number and they tell you your exact status. I used it twice and it worked.
