DADT is DEAD!

I saw a study that said that 5 out of 6 gay service men and women would not divulge their sexuality to their fellow soldiers, regardless of this ruling. It simply is immaterial to most discussions. I suppose it would come up at some point with your closest friends, but this notion that repealing DADT would result in gays standing on a soapbox and announcing their sexuality is absurd.

Talk about green.

Have you any idea how Policy is made..... and how little is has to do with "most situations".

Do gays get base housing together?

Can gays use the Chapel for pretend marriages?

Can two gay soldiers room together?

What will this mean for fraternization rules?

Will sexuality be noted in a service record?

Can Clubs based on sex habits be permitted on base?

Can male/male couple attend formal functions together?

The list goes on and on/

There are already gays serving in the military. Under DADT they cant be open about their sexuality like their heterosexual peers. Just because they can now, doesn't mean they will. Not all heterosexual guys go out and make a point of their sexuality.

Its not like heterosexual service members have not not caused their share of problems. From rape to getting local women pregnant and then abandoning the child.

When you get down to it, your in the military to do a job, if you can't keep your sexuality out of it, heterosexual or not. You are in the wrong line of work.

Danno, as per usual, your irrational hatred of gay people is noted.

Open homosexual behavior in a setting where people have to live and work in close quarters is not desirable. Hence...don't ask, don't tell, don't care, don't want to know.

What part of buffed men in uniform does not seem gay to you?

See it's clueless stuff like this which questions how much thought you have given to the topic.

When we talk about sharing eating sleeping and bathing quarters..... my friend it is not "a job".

Why don't you "take up the cause" .. and and do more than talk about it?

Invite a gay couple to move in and share your bedroom and shower.

Didn't think so.

The US has the best military in the world. There are already Gays and Lesbians in the military. I would say that any Gay man or Lesbian woman that wants to serve already is. I cannot see that this policy change has any possibility of making any difference.

It is basically much ado about nothing and always has been.

FWIW I am not inviting any heterosexual couples to share my shower or bedroom either. If I was going to invite someone to share my home I really wouldn't care if they were Gay or Lesbian. I am not Gay. It is not contagious. I do not concern myself with what other people do in their bedroom.

The answer to all of the above is..."Who cares"? Sleep well. Think about nice things. Care about your family. The military will be fine.

What do you think, they're going to spread their gay germs all over your shower? Or maybe now that gays in the military can admit they're gay (IF THEY WANT TO AND FEEL SAFE DOING SO), they'll think it's a free-for-all to start converting people. Maybe there will even be rape. You know, like occurs with heterosexuals in the military ALL THE TIME.

For the record, I would be happy to share my bedroom and shower with a gay couple as much as with a straight couple. If they're friends of mine they're welcome guests in my house, and if they're not friends of mine they wouldn't be in my bed OR shower. That has nothing to do with being gay, or straight, it has to do with them as people.

But I suppose you just hate homosexuals. Or maybe they're okay, as long as they stay over there in their own little space. Tsk tsk.

I, for one, am thrilled about the repeal of DADT. It's about time America catches up to everyone else.
