Yep, heard that about 10 mins ago, but on Brit radio so wasn't sure the exact state of affairs. Moving in the right direction though,

I saw a study that said that 5 out of 6 gay service men and women would not divulge their sexuality to their fellow soldiers, regardless of this ruling. It simply is immaterial to most discussions. I suppose it would come up at some point with your closest friends, but this notion that repealing DADT would result in gays standing on a soapbox and announcing their sexuality is absurd.

If it is immaterial...why not continue DADT? The military never has needed homosexuals to function effectively. This is all about liberal social agenda and zero about military effectivness.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

What? Next they'll be demanding pink uniforms with a matching pair of fabulous leather boots.

You just love a daily dose of nonsense don't you? The problem with policies like 'don't ask don't tell' is that they are discriminatory in application and that they lend themselves to an abusive subculture. Don't ask don't tell implies that there is something that could be told should it be found out, and only applies to same sex relationships, no one gets booted out the armed forces on the discovery that, shock horror, they have indulged in a heterosexual relationship! What a nonsense and the sooner it is removed the better.

You think its ok to discharge someone for being homosexual?

I can only imagine that people who advocate leaving things as they are have some kind of idyllic notion that there is a particular sort of homosexual who is attracted to army life one that either doesn't ever engage in homosexual behaviour, a hino if you will; or if they do, they are the 'male' homosexual who would be looking for a 'feminine' man and therefore not a threat, just another manly comrade but whatever if they close their eyes and stick their fingers in their ears they will not have to think about it, thus avoiding being offended by being confronted by reality.

Open homosexual behavior in a setting where people have to live and work in close quarters is not desirable. Hence...don't ask, don't tell, don't care, don't want to know.

Open homosexual behaviour being different to open hetrosexual behaviour how?

In other words, yes they should be discharged if they are discovered indulging their deviant behaviour, not that you want to know what being a homosexual actually is but it's bound to involve being purved on in the showers so the ones currently in the army are the ones who are just homosexual in thought rather than deed and they are ok as long as you don't know they exist. Brilliant.
