Great. We started my husband's AOS a month or so before we were to move to Texas, from California. Then we sent them the form to let them know of our new address. They sent him a biometrics appt in California anyway. So we called and informed them that we moved. Now they send us an RFE asking for all the financial information we already sent them, and another letter stating he has an appt 6/2 IN CALIFORNIA for his biometrics again, and if he doesn't show up, they will consider his application abandoned! I am beside myself with frustration with the USCIS.

The WHOLE purpose to sending them the form that we moved, was so they could set up a new biometrics appt here in Tx...AND TO TELL THEM WE MOVED! OMG...I am venting here. lol.

We are not sure what to do now. I guess send them in all the stuff again...but we cannot simply drop everything to go to California by June 2. Suggestions?

I'm not sure why you think that they are going to be any better at rescheduling your appointment in Texas than they were at registering your address change (twice? More?). My bets would be that the chances of them getting it right at THIS stage were even smaller.

Less hassle to find some cheap flights to Cali and back in my opinion...

OR, you can try to contact your congressman (in TX AND the old one in California)

Apparently for a pending case, they only have 4 options for an Inforpass appointment. None of them cover the issue of clarification on your case. My husband is on the phone with the useless people at the USCIS Customer Service line, hoping to get somewhere. They are telling him to send in for another rescheduling and change of address, even though it it 5/27 and the appt is on 6/2, and the chances of them getting and processing the mail in that short time are nil (IMO).

Oh..WAIT! Looks like they are doing a change of address right over the phone. Anyone want to take bets on if this will help or not?

re: infopass - choose the last option.

The last option is for if it has been over 45 days since we contact the NCSC, and never got any response. My husband just contacted them yesterday, so I guess we have to wait and see if they will abandon his application. This is a crazy making system.

How long ago did you send in your change of address? Obviously, they didn't respond to that initial request! Anyway, it's not like you don't have an urgent need here, so I agree, infopass. And if you can't get one today - get the congressman on the phone. Much easier to get the automatic denial when you don't show up to the interview in cali next Wednesday preempted than try to counteract it later...

Personally I would go to this site: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=ASC locate an office close to where you live now and take your biometrics letter with you. I would also take the evidence of attempting to change address.

When I did my biometrics they asked me to check the details on the screen, those details included my address. I would ask them to change my address (this is why you have proof you tried to change it with you). It should work as I know someone that had to correct their A number 'cause that was wrong. Hopefully that works and your nearest ASC isn't too far away (someone asked about doing it at a different office a whiel ago.. I don't remember if anyone had attempted it but it's worth a shot I think)

Good luck!!

Wait, did you receive the letter about the possible abandon of the case at your Texas address? If so, why doesn't he try to walk in at a local Texas office for bio? Maybe some more expert member should correct me if I'm wrong...can you do biometrics in another state if you have the notice?

This is only if they actually mailed the notice to appear in Cali to your Texas address though-which would be very ironic...damn USCIS...

Where in Cali did you leave? I'm in San Diego in case your husband needs a place to stay, lol!

Hang in there! keep us posted!

Oh by the way it is possible, a friend of mine was scheduled to do bio here in San Diego at the Chula Vista office, on the border with Mexico...he tried a walk in and was sent away, so he tried my local office instead today, which is North SD County, and got everything done. This was same State and same city though, wondering if it works in different States...

I wouldn't wait until the date on the letter either "just in case" they refuse it, means you have more time to deal with their incompetence. Personally if they say "no its not possible" I would have THEM contact USCIS for you (surely they have some magic number) to confirm it's okay. I REALLY hope you have a chance to do this today so you can stop worrying about it over the weekend :D

Simply put. Get your butt to your local USNIS office and start talking to ANYBODY and don't stop till they; 1. Throw you out, 2. Turn you over to the right person, 3. Stop scratching their heads. I got a RFE for the medical exam report that was sent with the initial package. At the interview the officer couldn't understand why I got the REF since the exam report was in the package along with the second copy I sent and the flaming letter that was sent with it wanting to know why they lost all that personal information.

Seriously, DO NOT LEAVE the office till you get SIGNED WRITTEN CONFIRMATION that they have FULLY EXTRICATED their cranium from their annual cavity and you have a new appointment/further processing schedule firmly in your claws.

Unfortunately, we were not able to get into a local office today.

However, we did what we were told to do by the person on the USCIS cust serv #. He said to send it all in again, to make sure it was received by Tues...HELLO!!!!! Memorial Weekend! We paid over $18.00 to be SURE it is received by Sat. That way, we have a tracking # and the name of whoever receives it. If there is no one to receive it on Sat, it will be redelivered on Tues. If they abandon his application, we will raise HELL, and maybe once they see what idiots they have been, they will expedite our case. Ok, this may be wishful thinking...but I CAN wish.
