Does my fiance need passport before interview?

Nowhere in the K1 process tree did i see anything about when to obtain a passport. I've asked several people who seemed to know what they were talking about, but yes i've read DS-156 which is why i initially asked them "umm.. Won't my fiance need a passport to fill this out?", even my fiance believed she didn't need a passport until after the interview. "No she wont need a passport until after the interview" so ok, that settles that, or so i thought. This isn't the only thing on my mind, I've been extremely busy with other things lately and things slip by. I'm on the right track again, thanks. Not at any point in time did i believe she'd be able to come here without a passport, just a question of when to get it.

No - she needs a Cambodian Passport to leave Cambodia.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

YES. IM IN THE SAME SITUATION. SHE NEEDS A CAMBODIAN PASSPORT. SOME COUNTRIES WILL ISSUE A PASSPORT IN 3 DAYS, CHECK IN CAMBODIA....OTHER TAKE LONGER...BUT YOU'LL NEED IT BY THE INTERVIEW DATE. I WOULD GET IS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE SOME FORMS REQUIRE YOU TO PUT THE PASSPORT NUMBER ON IT.

Yeah for some reason the embassy in Cambodia will send packet 3 to the sponsor instead of the beneficiary... Crazy, i know. But i'm doing about 90% of the work for her and then I'll send it to her for signatures etc, then she will mail it to the embassy. BTW I have no idea how we've got this far in the process without her having a passport lol... I'll tell her to get to work on the passport. Thanks guys, I appreciate the input!

I mentioned this to my wife & she says you can get a Thai passport in 5 minutes; have no idea what the score is in Cambodia.

Does she need to apply for a US passport? What the hell, the Cambodian website is a pain in the #### to understand.

As have been said she'd need a passport issued from a country where she's eligible to obtain such document.

Ask her to sort it out asap as the information about the passport is needed in forms that she need to bring to the interview.

My fiance is from Cambodia and I'm ready to send Packet 3, in the instructions for interview it asks for a passport photo page. My Fiance says she doesn't need one for the interview... I can't seem to find a straight answer on this anywhere so... Does my fiance need a passport before the interview? Or does she get one afterwards? Thanks in advance for your time!

YES, SHE NEEDS TO GET A PASSPORT BEFORE HER INTERVIEW DATE, THE NUMBER ONE REQUIREMENTS, AND ENSURE SHE HAVE A PASSPORT SIZE PHOTO FOR HER VISA, THEY WILL ASK AT 2 COPIES AND ANOTHER TO 2 C0PIES TO ATTACH TO THE NONIMMGRANT VISA FORM.

Again the answer is Yes she will need a passport. You should get with her and start the process ASAP. You will need to reschedule your interview so that she can get her passport. Start this process ASAP.

Does she need to apply for a US passport? What the hell, the Cambodian website is a pain in the #### to understand.

I don't mean to be rude but I strongly suggest that you read the guides for all of the requirements or get an immigration lawyer to help you with your case.

She's getting her passport in about 2-3 weeks for $250. Everything is going to work out fine and on time. Thanks, i appreciate the input! Of course only a US Citizen can get a US passport, which is why i thought it was weird that the Cambodia website redirects Passport applications to the US passport application, doesn't make sense so i thought I'd ask the question. Thanks again!
