Consulate Review: Vancouver, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 19, 2010
Embassy Review : Ok so I am so happy to finally be posting this up here!
I had my interview yesterday and as everyone had told me before it went great!
I was so shaky and nervous going by myself. Sadly my fiance Angelo had to work.
So I arrived an hour or so earlier than my appointment and was told to come back at 12:45.
I went to a nice little cafe and had some lunch and tried to calm my nerves.
After about 18 cigarettes I strolled back down there and was greeted by two very friendly security guards.
They searched through my binder with all my documents asked me if I had any metal objects on my person or electronics and then told me to go up the stairs to the elevators.
A very silent security guard then escorted me up the elevator to the 20th floor.
I got off and went through another set of security. These guards were also very pleasant. One of them let me through the door and I sat and waited.
I met a nice young woman who was also going for the K1 so we chatted for awhile and then a lovely lady called me up to window B to go over my documents.
People I want to make sure I stress this point...MAKE SURE TO BRING THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO GO WITH IT! The nice lady who I was chatting with did not bring this since the checklist says it MAY be required and she is now in AP.
Anyways after that was all done she told me everything looked great and that they would call me up at 1:45 for fingerprints.
So at 1:45 I had my fingerprints taken and was instructed to go down the hall to the cashier to pay the additional $219 in USD.
After all of this I went back to the waiting room and sat there for probably another 15 minutes when my name was called for my interview.
I strolled up to window 3 binder in hand ready for anything he had to throw at me......
The conversation went like so.
CO " So you met on Halo?"
Me: Yes
CO: What is that? I have been meaning to get into a new video game. What kind of shooter game is it and what different game variants are there"
Me: (in my head) HELL YEA!
we spoke about video games for the majority of the interview then he said I don't want to keep you here long so I will ask you a couple things then you can leave

1) where do you work
2) where does you fiance work and what does he do
3) how many times have you guys seen each other
4) Why were you denied entry in to the states in August of last year
He then looked up and said congratulations! That was it!
So easy and the staff there are top notch!
I then went back to see the first lady who took my documents and she took my express post envelope and said I was good to go.
I was out of there by 2:30

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
