Just learn your lesson and next time send it via Express Mail for $14.95. Gets there next day, hand-delivered, signed for, and you got proof.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Okay.... here it goes:

I talked to the Postmaster in Vermont. It is back on the way to me, left their facility at 2:30 pm yesterday. Reason: not enough postage.

WHICH IS BS!!!! It is a flatrate letter envelope for $4,95, plus $0.70 for delivery confirmation. I went to a postal office in person and they gave me the exact stamp!!!

So... let us hope it will come back to me. And if it does: I will put ###### $50 in stamps on it... and they better deliver it. Freaking ideots.

So it seriously got all the way to Vermont before they decided there wasn't enough postage? I guess the moral of the story is to go to the counter no matter what you're mailing just to confirm with the postal clerk that it's all ok - or did I miss that in an earlier post?

I'm sorry folks, but there's no reason to keep harping on that the USPS format the OP chose to send the package with is worthless. MANY of us - myself included - sent the package USPS with delivery confirmation to VSC and they were delivered without issue.

The OP did nothing wrong by choosing the method he chose. He just encountered a plonker somewhere along the line. I'm sure he knows there are other methods available to him and it's up to him to decide how to go the second time around. But I see no problem with what he did.

Agreed - I sent mine in a big yellow envelope of my own and just sent it overnight through USPS with signature...

Dear all...

In a different thread I was worried about my package arriving... USPS updated the status online and now it says:

- Return to Sender, December 22, 2009, 2:48 pm, SAINT ALBANS, VT

- Processed through Sort Facility, December 17, 2009, 9:55 pm, MOBILE, AL 36602

- Acceptance, December 17, 2009, 10:25 am, CALVERT, AL 36513

"Your item was returned to the sender on December 22, 2009 because it could not be delivered as addressed."

RETURN TO SENDER????

WHAT THE HELL???

First of all, I have NOT gotten anything back. Second of all, WHAT IS THE ISSUE HERE??? Are they kidding me? I am going freaking insane!!!!!!!!!!

What the freaking hell do I do???

Regards,

Oban

Hi Oban,

I just saw this post.

OK, well this update means that they are in the process of returning the package to the sender as of Dec 22nd. It could be a mistake. I am not sure if calling USPS and asking about the actual package - they always say you could call the number. Otherwise, just wait until you either receive the package or just find a new update online saying that it was delivered (Let's hope this is the case).

I wonder if they spilled something on it and they can't read the address anymore! diese affen!!!!!!

Yikes, the OP needs some anger management. So someone made an error, it will get sent to you and you can square it away. Take a chill pill with all the freakings and f--- and #######'s. Is this why your wife filed for divorce?

I am not sure if you saying this is appropriate. I think if you were in the OP's position, you would be upset too. This is a very stressful, ridiculous and humiliating process. I agree that the wording could've been better, but this IS a free country and FREEDOM OF SPEECH is something this wonderful country allows. You had the choice of not reading his post....

Now, even if the postage is wrong, USPS are the idiots because they are supposed to weigh the package and inform the sender of the correct postage. I don't think the OP would treat something this sensitive without paying enough attention!

Also I agree with TracyTN - I also delivered with USPS and it went through just fine. Sometimes employees are not as observant as they should be! I had so many incidents even with FedEx where one representative said one thing and it turned out to be wrong. After all, all these couriers are handled by imperfect humans.

Send USPS Express and check no signature.

If you request a signature the package can get returned to the PO if there was no one there to receive it. They'll try again tho the next day.

You can still get delivery confirmation online when you use overnight EXPRESS ifyou don't request a signature.

According to the USCIS website your address is wrong. It SHOULD be:

U.S. Department of Homeland Security

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

Vermont Service Center

75 Lower Welden St.

Saint Albans, Vermont 05479

as per their "direct mailing address" link: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00048f3d6a1RCRD

You sent it to:

USCIS Vermont Service Center

75 Lower Welden St.

P.O. Box 200

St. Albans, VT 05479-0001

Gotta be honest, I have never seen a post office box AND street address on the one label.

I hope you get it back soon. I agree with express post tracking as well. Thank you for this post even though I'm sorry this happened to you. I will be double checking addresses and double-checking I keep lots of copies "just in case".

Well... I used a flatrate envelope. The weight doesn't matter. You all probably know the commercials "if it fits it ships" on TV... so, postage is $4.95. The USPS clerk put a $4.95 stamp on it...

All very confusing.

According to the USCIS website your address is wrong. It SHOULD be:

And as per http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-751instr.pdf I am right and you are wrong. So? Let's face it, we both are right. USCIS is not a very competent organization.

However, I have seen street address and PO box on the same address many times. A lot of companies use this address format, and technically there is nothing wrong with that. Nevertheless, it is disturbing that even the government issues various addresses for the same facility.
