The sordid thing is that i met my fiancee on a porn site, Streammate. She used to chat with guys and do private shows. We have decided to marry. We have made up our minds, so i am not asking for advice about that. Question is, should we lie on the K1 application and when she goes to her interview? We could make it vague, but what if they ask detailed questions during the interview? We did not break any laws and it was not a marriage broker site. We have good evidence for the relationship.

Anyone else met this way, pls PM me.

Should I get a lawyer before we file K1?

Thx

Should you lie? No. No one here will advise you to do so since it is against the Terms of Service.

The only issue I potentially see with this is that her previous profession might put her within one of the categories of inadmissible aliens. Google that.

edited to add:

A person coming to the US to engage in prostitution, or who has engaged in prostitution within ten years of their application for entry, is inadmissible, as are those who have made financial profit from prostitution. No criminal conviction is required, and the bar applies even to nationals of countries where prostitution is legal. Those who have been forced into prostitution are not inadmissible.

Never lie, because that could lead to a lifetime ban. But, no need to volunteer info unless they ask for details. Plenty of people meet on the internet, so just say that in the letter and interview, unless they ask for details- you can say you started chatting and then did cam-to-cam, no need to say what exactly you saw unless they ask for the name of the site..... I don't think a lawyer can help you with this, so unless there are other issues, or you are realy bad at filling out the detailed forms needed for a visa, no need for a lawyer.

You dont need a lawyer. Dont lie and dont cop out to stuff they dont ask information about. IMHO, vague is okay if you are honest and the same time and answer the question. You (and she) havent done anything wrong. Go for it!

I agree. Give honest answers, never lie. Just say you met online. I met my fiance online, and when people ask oh yeah were, and I tell them they always laugh at me hehe. We met playing World of Warcraft lol. So atleast your not laughed at haha.

No. Do not lie. You met on the internet. What's to lie about? Lots of K-1 petitions start this way...meeting on the internet. And something tells me the site is not subject to IMBRA regulations.

You also don't need a lawyer. Tell them it was a chat room. Perfectly honest answer. I doubt it is illegal in Russia, besides she has never been arrested and has no criminal record. The whole thing is a non-issue.

this seems more like utopia2004 isn't a native english speaker than that they were trying to be.. antagonistic. at least, that's how i initially read the post.

I don't think a porn site = prostitution. Even if individuals are paying for a service that they get off on. So it seems this is more.. just information of a sensitive nature, than a question of a legal barrier. IMO

Would this come up in a background check?

She will have to list her employment places and title on the DS-230 form when you turn in your paperwork at the embassy stage of this process . That is where you may have a problem. But like all said earlier, Do Not Lie!!!

But wont show up in back ground check to my knowledge. Good luck!!

Truly happy!!!

New life, new adventures, and a new attitude.
