Pregnant at 11

I don't really know any today here that are but throughout history it has not been uncommon. Mary, Jesus' mom, was not 18 as I understand it. I personally was married at 16. This particular girl in the article had not just turned 11 as she was more than 12 and a half by the time the baby was born. She's going to have that baby (or already has) whether she's ready or not. I don't think it would be any worse if she was at least married to that boy. The father of her child was 15, NOT an old man! I did not say I would allow my daughter to marry an old man... not that I believe anything is wrong with age difference but just because I would not trust the intentions of any man in this age or this country who wanted to marry an 11 year old girl. Had you read what I posted you would have seen that I basically said it would NOT happen because any young man her age would not be able to take care of her.

I don't really care what any of you think about me. Your opinions mean nothing to me at all. As long as I do what I know is right by my religion I am perfectly happy. If you think it's better that this girl was having sex with her boyfriend and is now going to be an unwed mother at 12 than for her to have been married first then that seriously says something is wrong with YOU. Maybe your daughters will get pregnant at 11 so you can be as happy as this ditzy woman in the article! As for me I'll pray that my daughter has more sense than that and would choose the right path of marriage in the place of having sex with some boy and getting knocked up!

Well it is my opinion that just because we do things differently in 2006 does not make it better. It is not better for her to be an unwed mother at her age than to be married at her age. It is not better that it is socially acceptable to have all these single parent families and children being born to people who have never even thought about marrying the person they're sleeping with. I don't really care to convince you otherwise and you can't convince me that God's reasoning is wrong either so stop trying. It's obvious that you can't reason about morals with people who don't care to follow the laws of God. Please don't direct anymore posts in this thread to me as I am done discussing it. Thanks

there is nothing wrong with teaching your child to abstain from sex until marriage... it doesnt mean that you teach your child that if she marrys at 11 she can **

there is a reason that children are children and not adults at the age of 11... no matter how mature the body is... the mind can not possibly be mature enough to equal an adult (not even all adults minds are mature)... we should not just marry our children off so they can satiate lust without it being a sin... it is our job to protect our children... even from themselves...

The point of females beginning to menstruate at young ages was God's hand in evolution to preserve the human race. People didn't used to live as long as we do today. Therefore, it made sense that females would be giving birth when they were about a quarter of the way through their expected life span. Things aren't that way anymore, and it's no longer necessary for a child to give birth to preserve the species. That's why we have laws, and for the record, even IF someone were to allow their 11 year old daughter to marry a man, that man may still not have sex with that child...it's illegal as far as I know, and for good reason. Wouldn't be the first time a spouse was convicted of statutory rape since their spouse was underaged. Today's 11 year olds, like it or not, are not prepared for the responsibilities of marriage, let alone motherhood. The world still revolves around them at that age, and ever increasingly continues to revolve around them throughout the teenage years. That's why they do such irresponsible acts without thinking of the consequences of any related party except themself!

I think Pre-mariage sex is a good custom - if it gose both way...both boys and girls... but i'd not force anyone to be married at young age I see nothing wrong with sex before marriage (at least 18 please) as long as it's NOT a one night stand kinda thing..and use appropriate methods of birth control. (both boys and girls have to know)

But I'd teach them that's it's a special thing that she and he should wait until they know that it's a right time and a right person - and if they can hold it until they find someone special and get married that would be great.. but ofcourse.. i'd not tell them that they Need to get married Before they can have sex.... it's a nice custom.. but for me.. it's not a sin

and IF.. something was wrong with how i raise my kids and i have a 11 years old pragnent girl.. she would have an abortion.. (unless i know it's too late)

but hopefully nothing like that will ever happen.

just because a girl may start menstruating at 11, does not necessarily mean that her body is ready to start bearing children. Not by any means! A female body is not finished yet until about age 18, and any sexual contact or pregnancy any earlier than that can have serious repercussions afterward. I started menstruating at 11, no WAY would I have been ready to bear a child! Note my story about the 12 y/o given last rights during childbirth. There's a reason why life expectancy in the middle ages was so low! Because they started having babies too freakin early!

And marriage is relatively a "new" thing. Its not been around for millions of years at all. Thousands maybe, but even since the first edition of the bible came out, what we today lovingly call "living in sin" was the norm, even in Abraham's time (in some countries and US states, this is "common-law"). There was no actual ceremony, other than "yeah, I'll live with you and be your spouse" until much much later. The pomp and circumstance we have today is new. The ceremonial legalities of it are new.

Heck, even marrying for love is relatively new! Historically speaking, most marriages were arranged in order to benefit the families, and in some cases, the entire clan.

"God's" law, does not supercede the written laws of the land. An 11 year old girl cannot legally marry in the US, or Canada or the UK or or or. And even in Eastern countries where it is acceptable, the "married couple" don't yet live together as a married couple (and this certainly is not a "love match"). They live with one set of parents, and don't go out on their own until they're legally adult.

Add to this that not everyone on the planet believes in the same "God" that you do, and that primarily only the Big Three monotheistic religions have such restrictions of no sex before marriage etc etc etc...(and even this is relatively new, over the entire history of mankind and of monotheistic religion). Some belief systems even encourage multiple partners before marriage. As my mother said "how else would you Know?"

And if you show me any 11 year old, male or female, who says they want to get married, because they feel they're mature enough for it, I'll show you some randy li'l pre-pubescent who just wants to get laid and knows their parents won't allow it until marriage. Heck, I've known even adults who felt strongly enough about the "no sex before marriage" Christian rule that they got married only so they could have sex!

FWIW, I'm not Christian, I'm Pagan. I was however sent to Catholic school when I was a kid, so I do know a bit about Christianity. My own personal beliefs do not restrict me, or anyone for that matter, to wait until they're married to have sex. I would however encourage young people to wait at least until they're 18, more for physical health reasons than anything.
