Seems to me you have misunderstood. As I understand it, christians are meant to provide succour without judgement. That isn't to say that they condone any and every behavior. I believe you will find that christians will try to provide a criminal with the support to own up to and take responsibility for themselves. This is not necessarily a quick process.

That said, I am not sure that any christian would consider being an illegal immigrant a 'sinful' position. Clearly, they are at odds with federal laws, but I am not sure what that means in christian terms. Maybe a member of the church will enlighten us.

I am not a christian, but if one purports to be one, one should at least stand by certain core principles. Providing succour to one and all is surely one of the main tenets of their creed, no?

Its the choice given to the clergy and the established church to follow canon law versus secular law. Since there is a legal separation of church and state, then the precedent is given and established. Now, clergymen have the choice to hand criminals, like murderers, over. This is something at the discretion of the particular church and power structure within the religion itself.

Clearly you have misunderstood if you believe the church supportsthem. It's not a question of support, it's a question of succour without judgment. As I said, because say a priest ministers to someone who has broken secular law it doesn't necessarily mean that he condones what they have done. However it would appear that this is how someone can believe both that they are a christian and that it's ok to metaphorically throw stones. Cute.
