Now, another illegal immigrant, Flor Crisostomo has defied a deportation order and taken refuge in the same church.

Good! I hope another 50,000 of his illegal amigos take refuge in the same church too so they can feed, clothe, medicate, educate, and incarcerate the lot of them. Ditto for the rest of the sanctuary churches. Fill 'em all up to the ceiling with illegals they can provide care for. That will put an end to this ridiculous misguided do-gooder nonsense.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Honestly, I'm tired of our country allowing churches to be havens for criminals.

The Catholic Dioscese is one of the main supporters of illegal immigrants in Southern New England.I wonder if Flor will end up being a diplomat with Elvira,or at least her assistant.

Yes, in Mexico, where Elvira got deported to.

They also have enough $$ to make a difference in Mexico where a good share of their flock live.

Yes, poor show for those who claim that the church provides succour for everyone, regardless of what they have done, to actually stick by those principals, shame on them!

Seems to me you have misunderstood. As I understand it, christians are meant to provide succour without judgement. That isn't to say that they condone any and every behavior. I believe you will find that christians will try to provide a criminal with the support to own up to and take responsibility for themselves. This is not necessarily a quick process.

That said, I am not sure that any christian would consider being an illegal immigrant a 'sinful' position. Clearly, they are at odds with federal laws, but I am not sure what that means in christian terms. Maybe a member of the church will enlighten us.
