UNDECIDED. On tourist visa planning to marry US Citizen. What's next?

Don't get married and instead go for fiancée visa - the only way your daughter can come at the same time with you at her age.

USC fiancé would file I-129f and list your daughter under proper section and once approved the petition will go to Manila for visa interview and issuance. Both you and your daughter will then adjust status after you go to the US and you marry the petitioner within 90 days of entry.

Good point! Thanks for mentioning that one. I totally forgot that the derivative age is 21.

Just on a side note: I got married to my husband within 2 months of meeting him. 5 years and 2 kids later I would not change anything.

  1. Met my husband in Aug
  2. started "dating" online in Nov
  3. met in person in Dec
  4. engaged in Jan (like 2 weeks after we'd been separated)
  5. married in May
  6. immigrated in June the following year.

I wouldn't change the whirlwind either. ;)

Seems like you're already aware that at least one of you will be in another country without the other two for a time. I'd definitely up vote the K-1 option. At least you'd have chance to sort everything out on the other end before such a big move for you and your daughter and browse some schools for her for when you both get back to the US.

Take no note of the negative/abrasive people. There are plenty on here who met and married after their first meeting and some are much less lengths of time than your own. Everybody is on their own unique adventure. You just be sure to be happy with your own :)

lol a lot of folks here have no chill and just judge people all day. If you can't provide an answer to the OP's question, perhaps it's better to stay silent!

OP - I see you're in Portland, OR. I hope you were at the Rose Festival and Star light parades. Also don't forget to check out Voodoo doughnuts and the several attractions in the city and state - Multnomah falls etc, Columbia River Gorge etc. About the rain, don't worry you will get used to it soon :-)..Good luck!!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).
