It's a little confusing. The "timeline" that you enter data for isn't the stuff that shows at the bottom of a post. That's just their signature (edited under the profile settings). The actual timeline is a link by your screen name.

06/18/10 Married

08/12/10 - Day 0 - Mailed I-130, I-485, I-765 (USPS Express Mail)

08/13/10 - Day 1 - Delivery Confirmation at USCIS Chicago Lockbox

08/20/10 - Day 8 - Electronic (E-mail/SMS) confirmation of acceptance/NOA issued for I-130, I-485, I-765

10/09/10 - Day 58 - EAD (I-765) case visible online, others still not showing up.

10/21/10 - Day 70 - Spoke to 2nd-tier support, got a "referral" opened on the biometrics appointment (as in, why isn't there one yet?)

10/29/10 - Day 78 - Biometrics appt letter received (scheduled for November 18 in Alexandria)

11/04/10 - Day 84 - Successful Walk-In Biometrics at Alexandria, VA

11/04/10 - Day 84 - Email/SMS notice of "Card Production Ordered"

11/09/10 - Day 89 - Email/SMS notice of "Card Production Ordered" (same text, same everything, just a second notice)

Dear Captain Ewok

I think we need to add something to the timeline

I think we need a place that says NVC received case THEN

NVC case number recieved.

For the last 2 months it has taken NVC anywhere from 18 days till 66 days to assign the number.

So I think it is misleading when I see the timeline that NVC received case and I did nothing for 1 month... but really I just got the case number and it took NVC awhile to give it to me. So, I got my number at 18 days after NVC recieved it and 19 days after case complete.

And when someone had to wait 6 weeks to get their case number it is very misleading.

Thank you

Edited by togetherforever13

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

Thanks Captain Ewok for the timeline,

I keep checking the timelines to have an idea. It is a wonderful tool which gives all of us an idea which is better than nothing. So I agree with my Visa Journey friends here, please fill the timeline. I didn't see the estimated approvel dates either. I am wondering the reason why some NOA1 to NOA2 process takes 2-3 months while some of them takes 5-6 months. I hope ours will be the shortest processing times.

07/06/2012 - Married

10/26/2012 - Our I130 package sended via FedEx 2 Days Delivery

10/30/2012 - NOA1 receive date by USCIS

11/01/2012 - Email Notification for NOA1

11/06/2012 - Hard copy of NOA1 received via mail

01/xx/2013 - Called USCIS and learned that our file was transfered to a local office

01/12/2013 - NOA2 Approved :)

01/29/2013 - Case received by NVC

02/14/2013 - NVC sended AOS Fee Bill and DS 3032 via email (with this email now we know our NVC case number and Invoice I.D. number)

02/14/2013 - AOS Fee Bill Paid Online by petitioner ($88)

02/14/2013 - Beneficiary sended DS 3032 Form by email

02/16/2013 - AOS Fee Bill showed PAID

02/19/2013 - Affidavit of Support sended by petitioner

02/21/2013 - NVC received Affidavit of Support mail

02/27/2013 - DS 3032 email accepted by NVC

03/01/2013 - NVC sended an IV Bill information email, IV Bill paid online by petitioner ($230)

It would be a little misleading right now to go by any estimated processing time shown on your timeline. The processing time will depend on which office is adjudicating your petition. One reason for super quick processing could be that the case was expedited for someone who is in the military. Generally, the NOA2s that we're seeing under 2 months and under 3 months are being processed quickly because they're coming from local USCIS offices that do not have a high volume of work. They're not coming from the service centers. That's why the estimated NOA2 dates on our timeline are off. Petitions received after August 15, 2012 are being transferred to local USCIS field offices. Apparently, these offices each have their own processing times.

You can figure out which local office your petition has been transferred to by entering your zip code on the USCIS website. You can also get an idea of how busy that office is compared to other offices.

Here are some links

notice of transfer of I-130 processing from service centers to field offices http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=c3c7ca7c5fed9310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=e7801c2c9be44210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD

find your local office (scroll down and enter your zip code) https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=LO

check the workload of the local offices (select the form type, select the office) http://dashboard.uscis.gov/

USCIS: 307 days from NOA1 to NOA2 (no RFE's)

15JUN2012 USC married in Côte d'Ivoire
13AUG2012 I-130 sent by FedEx to Chicago
15AUG2012 I-130 packet delivered to mailroom, per FedEx.com
18AUG2012 NOA1, rcvd SMS & email saying case is routed to Vermont Service Center, later rcvd by snail mail
21AUG2012 the date on next I-797C received only by snail mail, says petition transferred to Lee's Summit,MO
28AUG2012 "touch" (website shows case was updated)
03OCT2012 the date casefile was sent to Atlanta, per phone call with ISO
01FEB2013 infopass at Atlanta, casefile has not even been assigned to anyone yet!

21JUN2013 NOA2, email received! USCIS website is updated! No SMS was received.

Letter rcvd later by snail mail from NBC, Lee's Summit, MO; however, I know file was adjudicated in Atlanta.

Not all cases after August 15th are being transferred to local offices. Mine was completed at NBC. I think timelines and expectations are still about the same, the only difference being that those who filed before August 15th are dealing with cases sitting in service centers that are still backlogged from before starting to send them off to NBC and then the local offices.
