How likely am I to be accepted/rejected?

Hi

Recently got offered a job with an employer based in Florida. They are taking all to do with the Visa but I am curious as to whether I will get it or not because of my criminal record. I have a few convictions but nothing too serious. I applied for Canada two years ago and got a visa but I hear the US are a lot stricter.

Any ideas?

Define "nothing too serious". What is the job? What are your degrees? Which visa? The reason it is a detailed process is because there are many factors. Your post would require psychic abilities to make even a guess.

What visa is the country club sponsoring you for?

Also, I think it depends on what the 'controlled substance' is. What exactly was it?

Good luck

You are being vague. In order for anyone to help we need details and specifics about the convictions. Work visas are not easy to get even without convictions

Your biggest problem is the drug possession. It will depend on the drug, quantity, and if there was an intent to sell it.

Your disorderly behavior, resisting arrest, assault, and criminal damage will be evaluated based on the circumstances. Being arrested for a drunken brawl is much different from being arrested at a political rally.

It was cocaine. 2 grams, no intent to sell. Im not too sure which visa it is. I only got offered the job yesterday so Ill know more first thing tomorrow morning.

The disorderly conducts were while drinking. I can post my police check from my canada visa if that helps? Sorry I dont mean to be vague. Im new to this visa stuff.

I believe Canada has an official forgiveness program which might have been how they overlooked it in Canada, what did your police check say 'no trace' or 'no live trace'? As anyone with no live trace has to get their police records for visa applications.

The cocaine will probably get you a denial. The US takes drug use very seriously. Far worse than other crimes.

No need to post your police report.

Apart from your past conviction issues, not sure what sort of work visa you employer is looking ar but if your prospective job requires a H1b visa, then the earliest you can start working for that employer is Oct 2017 that too if you get selected in the lottery.

Then you have a live trace on your record, yes this is an issue. As Aaron said this will most likely lead to a denial.

No trace - nothing on record

No live trace - spent convictions on record

Trace - convictions on record
