A and T got a reaction from Carpe Vinum in What would be considered alot of money in the Philippines
If you are sending more than $400 a month you are probably getting screwed over. Even professors/engineers there don't make but $300 to $400 a month....

A and T reacted to Hank_ in How can I prove someone is still married in the Philippines?
You contact NSO in the Philippines. This can be done online. https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Default.aspx
Just a side not - Philippines does recognize divorce if the USC is the petitioner of the divorce. Otherwise No... as you stated.

A and T reacted to novedsac in Crackdown On Sexual Predators
yeah … there was a guy posted on this board not too long ago inquiring about AWA. Apparently he is a RSO because he urinated on / behind a public monument or in the car park of a public monument. Disgusting - sure! Dangerous - hardly!
I remember a story aired on 60 minutes or some other national TV show a few years ago … it was the story of a family harshly impacted by RSO laws. The husband/father had dated his wife when she was 16/17 and he was 19/20. Well, she got pregnant and her mother went ballistic and the guy was arrested and tried for statutory rape and one of the consequences was that he had to register for life. Fast forward 10-15 yrs - they were happily married and had a few children; his mother-in-law had come around and really liked him and from all reports he was a hard working father, faithful husband and attentive to the needs of his family. However, he can never go to his children's school for a play, for a teacher conference, to pick them up upon dismissal, to attend to them if they are sick, etc. There've been run-ins with nosey neighbors who don't take the time to question what the circumstances are. Issues with jobs. From what I heard, it seemed like the family had suffered far more punishment than they deserved.
The intentions are good - but the system is severely flawed. The system needs a way to differentiate from those who are/potentially will be a threat from those who have never done anything threatening to begin with. Even people with a high respect for women see the need for change and support an overhaul of the system (there are women registered as sex offenders too, by the way).
I think it's easy for people assume that someone on a registered sex offender registry is some kind of social nut job and, well, the risk to their kids is significant enough that if the offender is not really dangerous, oh well, better safe than sorry.
Kinda reminds me of the morons who ostracized Ryan White for having AIDS.

A and T reacted to Tahoma in Advice of Parents refused.....
No matter how the parental advice issue plays out, Mariel is going to go to the U.S., and her parents are going to have greater expectations when she's in the U.S. It will always be up to Mariel to manage those expectations.
@Tony...How much does Mariel support her parents? P3000/month? Can you afford P3500/month? Or P4000/month? Does Mariel plan on getting a job in the U.S.?

A and T reacted to rlogan in Six month philippines visa extension tip
If anyone is intending on a long stay here I just did the six month visa extension but have some information that will save anyone else a hassle.
They have not published a rule that says you have to get a one-month extension first before you apply for the six month visa, but if you haven't done that they will try to turn you away. The only place you can get the six month extension is Manila, so when I went there during my first month here and traveled to Manila that was the first thing they told me at the information desk. They said people come in every day not knowing that and they are sent away angry. .
I was pretty pissed off and asked to see a supervisor and while waiting, sure enough two more Americanos arrived and were turned back for the same reason. When I got to the visa extension line they told me I could only get the one month extension and would have to come all the way back from Mindanao one month later and get the damned six month extension then. But I asked for the supervisor and she came over. They wanted proof I was living on Mindanao, and fortunately I had a photocopy of my wife's Philippine passport showing our address on Mindanao, along with the entry stamps for both her and the children showing they had one-year visas.
So what they did was give me the one month extension and the six month extension at the same time, for a total of seven months. You don't save any money on visas because you pay for both. But it sure beat coming back to Manila or having to travel to Cebu several times for extensions.

A and T got a reaction from brucelene in got denied after 3 yrs and 8 months of waiting..
I think you are confused, we are not talking about bringing a sex offender into the usa, we are talking about the wives and families of sex offenders. You do realize that lots of people are labeled as sex offenders that are not pedophiles, right? These people are not out at night looking for children and stalking your kids, thats fear mongering on your part.
No spouse would be charged with endangering a child by marrying someone that was a sex offender, did you pull that out of a hat as well?
If a sex offender lives in the usa, and gets married and petitions his wife to live in the usa with him, than how is the usa " protecting its people" ? protecting them from who? From their own husbands and families?
I think you fail to realize the scope of people that are labeled sex offenders in the united states. There is no difference in a sex offender in the usa marrying another us citizen vs an immigrant, its just discrimination against immigrants

A and T got a reaction from Caryh in Will a DWI prevent me from getting a work visa in the Phillipines?

A and T reacted to DavenRoxy in The bar girl...
It's not an admirable job, to be sure. And given the chance, I'd wager 99.9% of them would choose another occupation. I'd also lay dollars down that the vast majority of them feel like it's the only way to save their family. It's actually quite an extreme sacrifice that they make, especially considering the strong moral background most of them seem to have.

A and T reacted to apple21 in Philippines Passport Trouble
Why won't they accept your driver's license? Is it damaged? Expired?
Just bring your original NSO birth certificate, driver's license and NBI clearance (the green one) and you'll be fine.
Unless you are a married woman, you need to present your original NSO marriage certificate too.

A and T reacted to I AM NOT THAT GUY in Ok !!! Why are so Many Filipina's Connecting Up with American Men......???
She says she loves you, and in her heart that is probably true, but without that green card, she would never get that chance. If she met you in the Philippines, and you managed to convince her to marry you, so that you could spend the rest of your life with her in the Philippines, she would never let you out of her sight -- Not because she doesn't trust you, but because she is afraid some younger or more beautiful Pinay would steal you away from her.

A and T reacted to evli1966 in Philippines now denying entry to some RSO's
While I agree with consequences you must realize these are not consequences caused by their actions but mandates/penalties added retroly to their judgments.
Slippery slope my friend.
How would you like to have NSA knock on your door to remove your loved on ebecause of a misdemeanor from 20 years ago is now Federal crime and they decided it is best that person should not live with you.
Consequences or added punishment or....
I will state that if the registery were to be fixed to contain the actual sexual predators (diagnosed by doctors not law makers and angry victims) then I would support the no travel laws.
But until that happens the rising support for reform will continue as they add more and more poeple to this bogus registry and I will be against any law that restricts peopel on the registry.

A and T reacted to evli1966 in Denial of I130
This is statement is soo wrong
Allow me to educate you with some questions
The 2 children at 7 years old caught touching each other: di you consider them sexual predators?
The new 19 year old who's GF was 16; is that person a sexual predator?
Is the drunk college student arrested for public urinating at 2am a sexual predator?
The person arrested for selling drugs a sexual predator?
The person arrested for assaulting no sexually his ex-wife is he a sexual predator?
I can go on but I know you get the drift of how wrong your remark was.
Now the AWA which was created to protect is harming Millions of people or putting them in danger because the real predators hide among the 750K on the registries if they are even registered
Immigration wise the USCIS can only apply what they were given which was no to clearly differintiate the dangerous from the safe petitioners which has caused the hardship of these families...mark my words these type of laws come back and bite the tax payers in the Azz just so the lazy few and the fear mongers can have a false sense of security.
Thousands of legitimate families suffer from this bogus law.

A and T reacted to evli1966 in Adam Walsh Act - advice on relevance ?
100% get an attorney.
An Attorney theat is notably experineced in the AWA.
What others are stating is somewhat true.
All court records, police records, pshycology reports should be certified.
An inexperienced attorney can scew things up quickly as can someone submitting items themselves.
BTW
The government (Bush administration) passed the AWA to protect children and the loose language is interpreted by the USCIS in a way to prevent the approval of family based visas even when no children are involved.
This error was noted and the chnage from immediate denial of the visas to putting the burden of prove no threat to the beneficiary on the pettitioner.
You should note the AWA was passed in 2006 and most successful appeals or approvals are because the conviction was before this was enacted.
With that said without overwhelming evidence showing successful and safe reform as well as the ability to securely support themselve and their applicant the chance is very slim.
Please do not hesitat eto ask questions here some have experienced alot of this and some have been successful.
myself on a fiance visa it has been 4 years in June to this date we are over 60 days since submittal of our RFE.
I am prepared to appeal int he Federal Apeals court which could cost upwards of $20k.
The great part for you is that you are here with the person you love.
(There are roughly 14 million illegal immigrants living in the USA.)

I would highly suggest researching the topic heavily. i don't think i would go just too see relatives. Why not fly them up and meet somewhere nice, and make it like a vacation for them instead? Davao has cheap condos with swimming pool and more .
That way you meet them, you are safe, and its like you are doing something nice for them at the same time, its a win win

A and T reacted to VanessaTony in How long I can stay in Philippines?
"w" isn't a word so to clarify: You DO have advance parole or you don't? You DO have a greencard or you don't?
1. If you do NOT have advance parole (AP) then you can't leave.
2. If you DO have AP technically you can be gone up to 12 months but anything over 6 months can be held against you and breaks your continual residence for citizenship
3. If you do NOT have the GC and you do NOT have AP then see #1
4. If you do NOT have the GC but you do have AP then see #2
5. If you DO have the GC then see #2.

A and T reacted to Bron Chase in How do you extend your stay in the Philippines?
It's very easy to extend your tourist visa. Will you be in Manila? If so you just go to the BI in Intramuros. Leave your passport there in the morning and pay the fee, then come back and get your passport in the afternoon all stamped and ready to go. I would call the airline and ask about changing your departure date; there could definitely be some fees associated there.
