White guy in Zambo

We will soon have a vacation together in Cebu that will be worth more than I can say. My Girl recognizes that Zamboanga is not safe for me so she insisted we meet at another location. I was willing to go to Zamboanga as I'm not intimidated by anything but she said she couldn't be happy knowing my family would be scared. I still say, I'll go to Zambo and walk proud down the streets. besides guns being pulled on me, I'm very capable of my security. I guess a big man that can fight is not impressive to her, she just wants nothing to go wrong. If no guns are pulled on me, I can defend and win. I've read how other white men have been to Zambo with no issues. What puzzles me is that some of her relatives live there and she whants me to meet them someday. So I'm ok with this. Sorry if it hurts religios boundries but she is worried Muslim will hurt me as this has been the past for white visitors. I am a caring Man and have no hate towrads anyone. So can I visit her family someday in Zambo or should I look for a place we can all be happy with no pressure of my race.

Brad, is this your First Visit to the Philippines. Whether it is or not is to be careful about an attitude on your part. That would cause a problem ONLY for you. Make arrangements for family to meet you to get to your desired location safely. I say GO. You know the rules: No shown jewlery, attitude, and be polite. Thats it. The rest is in God's hands. That will get you there safely. There is a risk walking down the street in the US. If the family does not wish to help you get to your location for fear, that is a Red Light. I still say GO with or without help. If it's true or not. Be safe and have a fine time.

I would highly suggest researching the topic heavily. i don't think i would go just too see relatives. Why not fly them up and meet somewhere nice, and make it like a vacation for them instead? Davao has cheap condos with swimming pool and more .

That way you meet them, you are safe, and its like you are doing something nice for them at the same time, its a win win

You will be safe. Just don't go to the islands. As long you stay within the city - no harm. It's only bad perceptions or publicity especially from those people who didn't visit the place personally. There are always white guys in the city and my Fiance came in twice before and he likes it here. In every place you visit, just take care and don't easily trust people who you don't know well.

Btw, make sure that your Fiancee is legally free to marry or annulled in case she was married before. I'm sure you don't want to experience any harassment from her ex especially when you come to visit her - just do the right thing. The video shared by one VJ member here "Banged Up Abroad: Philippines" is so stupid, but it is a good lesson to learn both Filipina and foreign lover. The need to be morally upright is important to have a peaceful journey. Good luck and God bless.

Not sure of the specificity of crime and safety in Philippines but Gowon would for sure and without the shadow of a doubt meet his intended in her home city, see her relatives in their natural habitat, etc

Tbh,if your girl is not comfortable having you in her hometown I think it is best to stay out of Zamboanga when you visit her.This will avoid having her worries your safety all the time.But lots of white men been there and some even live there with there spouse without anything happened to them.My cousin's husband live with her and her family in Zamboanga city and he is fine.I wanted my husband to go there with me as most of my relatives (mom)side live there,but hubby refused to go! Lol he said he wants to live longer.Anyway to have a worry free vacation that you and your girl can enjoy ech other,it would be best to stay somewhere like Cebu,Manila,Bohol,or boracay.

You got it right I feel it is proper and much respect to meet her family before anything. I believe it is best to knock the door first before we get into the house LOL - just my thoughts.

I was in Zamboanga City for Christmas and New Years. We stayed at Zalos Boutique which was nice. I wanted to explore the city, but she was worried for my safety. Listen to her, that is her home, and she knows it better than anyone not from there. I did spend time with her family and friends, but couldn't go much of anywhere.

Dipolog Zamboanga Del Norte is a lot safer!! They also have attractions to bring the family inn.

dipolog is safe. dont worry. however if this is your first visit... enjoy your time with your girl and her kids first.. maybe before you go back to us have a quick trip to zamboanga. just to meet the family. just be your self. they will love you regardless.
