How do you extend your stay in the Philippines?

Well my fiance changed the wedding date by a week. So it means we will only have a 2 day honeymoon. If I wanted to extend my tourist visa how would I do that? Where do I go? Also does this mean the airline would charge me more to change my departure date? Thanks.

It's very easy to extend your tourist visa. Will you be in Manila? If so you just go to the BI in Intramuros. Leave your passport there in the morning and pay the fee, then come back and get your passport in the afternoon all stamped and ready to go. I would call the airline and ask about changing your departure date; there could definitely be some fees associated there.

You didn't say if you're currently in the Phils? Best if you take care of it at the airport before leaving the airport.

And changing a ticket all depends on the carrier and what type of ticket you bought. If you bought the cheapest fare and not a priority memmer on that airline, expect to pay.. Calling the airline and changing it will tell you exactly how much.. Good luck.

You can extend to a 59-day visa.

If you are still in the USA, go to the Philippines Consulate. http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/philippines-dc/consulate-finder-dc/

If there are none in your area or too busy to go then there are some travel agents that can handle the extension for you – for a fee.

If you are already in the PI, go to the Bureau of Immigration. The process is not that long ½ a day to 1 day tops.

As to changing your ticket travel date – that depends on the class of ticket you purchased. Some have no fees and some have fees, so read the terms of the ticket and call the airline or the point of purchase (TA?) about the date change.

Thanks. Yeah I don't leave for the Philippines until Feb 27th. The process of extending it sounds easy. But its those airline fees I worry about. Also I'd have to travel 8 hours while there to get to Manila to extend it. Which isn't a big deal if it means more time with my (at the time) wife. Maybe I will just extend it as soon as we get there. Although I heard the embassy doesn't like when you arrive and quick;y extend your stay

Our wedding date got pushed back a week so our honeymoon will be only 5 days. Which really is still better then one day. So I can't complain. I'm just not comfortable with the idea of knowing we will be a year or more apart afterwards. But thats why a LDR is about strength, patience and faith.

Embassy doesn't care if you extend your stays in the PI. Sounds like you're out in the sticks when your in the PI like me. Best bet is to just extend while you are in ghe manila airport. Ask immigration and they will help you out- won't take long if the line is small.. Then your good if you decide to stay longer. The fee's are cheap enough, less expensive than trying to run around in the province looking for a place to take care of it.

Also, call the airline now and tell them you're inquiring about changing the dates of your travel and they will tell you exactly what the cost will be and then you can decide..

Who are you flying with? Depending on your airline, you migh be able to change the flight while in PI. I paid $75 to change a flight while in Makati going directly to United Airline's local ticketing office in Manila. As far as the extension take care of it in the US if you can. If you have a Philippine Consulate close to your location you can take care of it in a day or so, if not it make take a few days to a few weeks.

What province are you staying in? As far as extending in PI do it at the airport if time permits. It's a zoo trying to do it in Intramuros(I did it back in Sept2012) and I won't ever personally extend there ever again. Depending in what province you're at you can most likely get the extension done out there as opposed to driving out to manila if you don't have the time to do it while at the airport. My family members get their extensions done in Naga rather than Manila for reasons I learned firsthand.

Sorry for the late reply.

Well the situation is me and my mom are going (she wants to be at the wedding). Currently we calculated the time for my honeymoon and we will have under 18 hours for it. Which is not long. So we are trying to figure out if its cheaper to see if AA can have us come in a week later (change our ticket) or if its easier to just extend the visit (and change ticket dates) when we arrive at the airport.

Oh to answer the one question she lives in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro. Near Roxas.

Ok one more post. After looking online it says to just go to the BID (BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION) near where she lives this way I can extend my passport and it will take less time then if I did it in Manila. The closest one to her is in Calapan. So I'll change tickets at the airport and then to to this BID place on our way to Roxas!

I believe you won't be flying American into Manila, it will be one of their partner airlines. So there will not be an American customer service agent there. A representitive from the partner airline will be there, but they will be calling the same customer service number you can call. I would rather call and change and inquire about ticket change then put a filipina in the middle of it... It's up to you always....

We fly AA then at Hong Kong it switches to Cathay Pacific I believe its called. Am I able to call ahead of time? From what I understood when I go to get my passport stamped they want to see I have a departure date 21 days later. Then I could always change it after. I may be wrong though.

Actually what counts as the first day? Once you land or once you leave the airport? I was told since its international territory in an airport you aren't considered staying until you step outside the doors.
