    Anecdotally I read a book about a woman in Saudi Arabia where she indicated neither she or her sisters were allowed to meet their spouses. They only spoke on the phone.

    Well for example in my ethnic group, some very conservative groups within the ethnic group do not allow spouses to meet. This is the Fulani ethnic group, this is likely not something you are going to find on google because it is not a widespread practice, not everyone observes this. Folks that live in rural, less-developed areas are more likely to follow this custom rather than someone like myself who lived with my husband for four years before we were married 😬

    I don’t know anyone that has done this, but I think just getting a letter from the religious authority outlining why it’s forbidden, specifying what ethnic group/religion/ etc forbids this. Explaining what is done instead (e.g. phone calls), also explaining how meeting would be detrimental/dishonor cultural values. Might be helpful to get a letter from someone that conducts legal marriages that can attest that they have conducted marriages of this type.

    I don’t believe being forbidden to meet in person is religious but more cultural. I’m a Muslim and it’s not really a part of the religion but there are several cultures/ethnic groups/practices that do forbid meeting the spouse, it would likely be strictly an arranged marriage. Again, I don’t think this has to do with religion BUT most of the people that practice this do happen to be Muslim.

    Go to the airline website and they will tell you the maximum dimensions, I would probably not recommend moving boxes as they can be easily destroyed during transit. You may just have to separate them all into suitcases or duffel bags.

    I don’t know who has access to this but law enforcement definitely has their own files/databases of gang affiliated tattoos, it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary to think others have access to this.

    Why would it impact the visa? Is there something already disclosed that you are worried it will come back? Problems with parents are normal. I don’t see it being a major issue unless there is something I am missing.

    I’m not too familiar with the Jnvisa category, but I would think the simple fact that you returned to your home country after your program will be looked upon favorably when going for your visitor visa. Also reading about this two year requirement is super confusing but I found the following. It also seems like there is a waiver program. to me the below means that even if subject to two year requirement you can still travel if issued a visitor visa, since it is not an immigrant visa or K1 visa. you could again ask for a waiver but I’m really not sure if a waiver applies to you. Here is the website I’ve been reading.https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/exchange/waiver-of-the-exchange-visitor/eligibility.html if you are truly not sure if the two year rule applies to you there is an advisory committee listed on the site that you can write to and they will tell you. But again, I don’t think you are prohibited from traveling on a visitor visa if issued one. either way, be honest.

    Lots of issues here. But could you cancel the return ticket and rebook it with your maiden name?

    I notice l get them (on other platforms as well), when the thread is locked and they want to get the last word in lol. in this case (which you all probably remember), the person was upset I called them an abuser (after they said they pushed their wife). Some people don’t want to face the truth, I say the guilty is always offended.

    As others have said the best bet would be b2. But not only do you have to show funds, there is a sort of expectation that you need to be able to prove she is traveling for medical care that is not obtainable in your country. So ensure you have that as well as funding.

    How many boxes do you have? Most airlines charge about $75 for excess suitcases at 50 pounds. Could you bring a few excess suitcases/boxes? I’ve done this before and have also brought oddly shaped boxes. You just have to measure to make sure it isn’t bigger than the maximum. Good thing is you will have everything as soon as you arrive.

    If I were you I would be careful. Refusing her into her residence, refusing to allow her to get her belongings are illegal unless you have a reason to believe she will be physical but it seems you are the physical one.

    If you really live in NYC/NY she didn’t have to leave. You can’t just kick someone out, you have to go to housing court. I wish she would come On visa journey so we can advise her. You clearly are abusive.

    I thought I posted this but now I can’t find it so forgive me if this is a Double post. but mostly medical and some PHD programs. for example I went to a 5 year undergrad program then did 2 years of grad school. I planned to go to medical school but I didn’t but if I did that would have been another four years of school for a total of 11 years. Some masters programs can take longer(most don’t). That doesn’t include required medical residencies either. I think most folks have to do at least 2-3 years of medical residencies. doesn’t include any OPT, externships, internships etc. doctoral programs can take 6 years which may or may not include research for dissertation, though to be honest I don’t know how research towards dissertation counts towards allocated f1 visa time for the OP, if your parents are alive you may have a better chance of your sibling petitioning for one of your parents and your parent petitioning for you (dependent on your age). If you are under 21 it will happen faster.

    Depending on where you are in your studies and what you are studying- there are programs of study that can take 15 plus years to complete depending on how you go about it . Combine that with OPT’s, then maybe you would be here till 2037 while in status ? Unlikely though

    I believe you can change your name to whatever you like. It’s unfortunate punctuation is not allowed as it’s allowed in birth certificates in many states. On a different note my kids pediatrician is named Ma Jesusa 😊
