Flames9_RN got a reaction from NikLR in How long it will take to issue visa and getting passport back?
Well there you go. I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just not the one needing the info. Some just sity and wait and wait.... squeaky wheel gets the grease. You as a American citizen should know ur govt better than me, and know who to contact.

Could just be a random thing......Person was born in another country that doesn't get along so great with the USA. Criminal background.....Thats why one should never make concrete plans until ya have the package in your hands!

Flames9_RN got a reaction from JnJ13 in POE at YVR
I would think they would just send you to secondary--That "Nexus" officer isn't going to be the one that is going to stay and do the paperwork! OR he could just say--sorry---head to the normal lane......so worth a try, all he can do is say no.

Too bad you had not found VJ before you hired a lawyer!! We did the same thing--- Huge waste of $$$$. My best advice is goto the CR-1 forum and READ the Guides--so you understand the process as believe it or not all Immigration lawyers do not. Spend time reading the guides and the steps--as no 1 cares more about the process than YOU--lawyer truly doesn't care he/she still gets paid.

Flames9_RN got a reaction from Krikit in Horror stories at the MTL consulate?
The few that have had some difficulties tend to be people that were not born in Canada! Come from countries that have high fraud rates, or countries that are not friendly with the USA.
Then their are the domicile issues--whole thread at the top regarding that. Where the USA citizen is residing in Canada-(whole thread on it,lol)
Some that have had a criminal background
If your a born in Canada Canuck and who have triple checked that you have all your paperwork, and been honest all along, its a cake walk!

Flames9_RN got a reaction from hikergirl in Canadian citizen, US boyfriend
Theoretically, the clock starts fresh, once you leave! BUT if the USA POE officer belives your spending to much time in the USA.....he can deny you entry!! And keep in mind, if one is spending over 6 months in the USA--or anywhere outside of Canada, one can loose their Canadian health benefits!! Which if you will loose once you move to the USA down the road.

Flames9_RN got a reaction from JnJ13 in when did u give up your CDN residency?
I do believe once you come to the USA, your no entitled to OHIP--doesnt matter if ur card has an expirary date or not--its fraud

Flames9_RN got a reaction from Krikit in Brand new - lots of questions
CR-1 is no harder or easier than a k1 FOR CANDIANS to prove a relationship! 99.999% of the time Montreal asks for no proof at the time of the interview(ie pictures, letters) In some countries that may be the case--but not for canada. As a Cdn still iving in Canada, one is still covered by the Cdn healthcare system, so no need to be covered on a USA spouses health care coverage. Its really not that difficult. Your making it harder than it truly is.

Flames9_RN got a reaction from Krikit in US Citizens might be moving to Vancouver
You could go on craigslist and get a very rough idea on what it would cost to rent a house or an apartment. Vancouver housing market is pretty $$$$. Gas is a lot more than in the USA--but cheaper than England, lol One pays a lot more in Sale tax on stuff than what you would pay in the USA--that where the $$$$ comes for the "free" healthcare, lol
Vancouver is a nice area, lots to see and do. The mountains are close by, the ocean is right there!! I resided in Victoria for nearly 10 yrs and enjoyed it. Very little snow (usually) in Vancouver in the winters, but can be a lot of grey, rainy days instead!!

Flames9_RN got a reaction from Kathryn41 in last night in Canada...
The last night DEc 16 2004!! Almost 8 yrs ago!! Just me and my packed up boxes in my 1 bedroom apartment in Greenwood NS!! Left my dream job with the Cdn Air Force, but we all make sacrifices--I know my wife has made plenty for me. Its a very surreal feeling as the process feels long--but in my opinion we Cdns have it pretty easy compared to many other countries, but it still feels long. It was a very odd feeling loading up my Uhaul on Dec 17 and by noon hitting the road!! I don't think it truly hit me until I got the the POE!! I'm very fortunate to have a spouse that understands that yes Canada/USA are neighbors, but we are two different countries! She understands my need to go back to Canada, my need to get my Canadian Tattoos re-inked!! I have truly been blessed, she is more than I deserve. But that still does not miss me missing Canada, but at the same time I love the USA, but Canada will always be my home country!!

Flames9_RN got a reaction from Kathryn41 in Continuing Education
Your incorrect on the k1 process--after your interview in Vancouver(As I think u said ur in BC), you will POE into the USA, they will Endorse the visa, then you have 90 days to marry! You CAN NOT leave the USA until you apply for Advance parole (AP) or get the green card!!! Well you can leave--you just will NOT get back into the USA

Flames9_RN got a reaction from hikergirl in Getting a US passport for my child...
I would have thought he would have just would have done a birth abroad and got his citizenship that way---and not have had to pay for the cr-1 route!! At least thats the way it was for my wife many moons ago,lol

Ur a Canadian citizen correct??? So as a Cdn citizen you have a right to go back! Canada does not care if ur a zillionaire or broke--if ur a Cdn citizen!! And you have ur Greencard, so no probs getting back into USA. Enjoy ur trip

Flames9_RN got a reaction from TheFantastics09 in Questions Regarding Having a Baby in Canada and bringing him or her to the US
Yep, one has to know the difference between a PPO, HMO, etc etc etc!! As you can ask the question--Do you Accept my Insurance??? And they can say yes and one soon finds out that just because they accept it--means very little!! I found out the hard way with a dentist! Which wasn't too bad, as I caught it. Luckily found a dentist that was within my plan! Was only a $6000 difference, lol Just another frustration!

Flames9_RN got a reaction from TheFantastics09 in Questions Regarding Having a Baby in Canada and bringing him or her to the US
Was a thing in the news last yr about the BC govt starting to go after people that are doing exactly that! No longer entitled to Healthcare but keep using it! Its fraud! All adds to the increasing cost of healthcare
