  1. U.S. pauses migrant sponsorship program due to fraud concerns By Camilo Montoya-Galvez Updated on: August 2, 2024 / 5:51 PM EDT / CBS News The Biden administration has paused a migrant sponsorship policy it set up to discourage illegal crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border due to concerns about fraud among sponsors, officials said Friday. The policy allows up to 30,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela to fly to the U.S. legally each month if American sponsors agree to support them financially. The administration first started the program in late 2022 and expanded it in early 2023 to dissuade migrants from those crisis-stricken countries from traveling to the U.S. southern border. The Department of Homeland Security said it stopped issuing travel documents to people applying for the program while it investigates applications filed by U.S.-based sponsors. "Out of an abundance of caution, DHS has temporarily paused the issuance of advanced travel authorizations for new beneficiaries while it undertakes a review of supporter applications," the department said in a statement Friday. "DHS will restart application processing as quickly as possible, with appropriate safeguards." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-migrant-sponsorship-program-paused-cuba-haiti-nicaragua-venezuela/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2rS8uFXiMUes7fiibyaF3QddhqIlg4BrVexn58PEZ8BeWw_huu_OHNY2w_aem_Mgb9varSKEnZp4t919mnBg I really cant make much sense of this.

  4. I do not understand what the basis of the expedite is, does not seem to fit into any of the categories. Severe financial loss to a company or person, provided that the need for urgent action is not the result of the petitioner’s or applicant’s failure to timely file the benefit request or to timely respond to any requests for evidence; Emergencies or urgent humanitarian situations; Nonprofit organization (as designated by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)) whose request is in furtherance of the cultural or social interests of the United States; Government interests, including cases identified by the government as urgent because they involve the public interest, public safety, national interest, or national security interests; and Clear USCIS error.

  6. It would be cheaper to just delay their case, but it has happened before so the Consulate could just hold their cases with yours, you will need to redo the Medicals. The children also overstayed?
  7. There are all sorts of variants of AP, Russia would suggest one of the longer types whilst they do background checks. There is no way of knowing. The long term answer to what can we do would be to file a Writ of Mandamus, but you are a way off before that would make sense.
  8. Of course Not everyone took the same stance on WW2
  9. CNN — Missouri Rep. Cori Bush will lose her Democratic primary to St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell, CNN projects, securing another win for the same pro-Israel groups that helped oust New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman six weeks ago. Bush, a member of the House “squad” of progressive lawmakers like Bowman, was already earmarked for a tough primary in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District – which ended up being the second-most expensive primary of the cycle, behind only Bowman’s race in New York. Her fierce advocacy for a ceasefire in Gaza added fuel to opponents’ fire. And in similar fashion to Bowman, Bush – despite the backing of progressive groups, local leaders and top congressional Democrats – was unable to fend off Bell, who, like Bush, rose to prominence during the protests in Ferguson, Missouri, a decade ago following the police killing of unarmed Black teenager Michael Brown.
