Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from eieio in Trump’s salary
Nothing changes in the federal budget, and yes, I'm sure it was intended to be a publicity stunt.
However, had Obama done this, there would be a$$-kissing headlines all over the mainstream media.

Italian_in_NYC reacted to RO_AH in fraudulent spouse
Let's focus on facts. There is nothing you can do to have him thrown out. On the other hand we have child support laws in America and he will need to support your child at least until 18 and possibly beyond if college is involved and possibly alimony depending on divorce terms. If you want revenge it will be best handled through the divorce settlement so get a good divorce attorney. Sure he will be able to stay but it will cost him dearly.

Sad indeed.
But that'd be one more reason to keep the father in the country to have him contribute at least.
But I suspect this would be some sort of revenge through deportation proceedings.

mmmm... having a baby together is usually the best way to prove the marriage was legit...
Could it be that the marriage went sour and now you are seeking for some revenge?
Wouldn't it be better to have him in the US to help (financially or whatnot) supporting the child?
Just saying.... people who commit marriage fraud tend not to have kids...

Just called NVC, they scheduled an interview today for my mom.
It's 1/30/18 at the US Consulate in Naples, Italy (which works out beautifully with her travel schedule - she is visiting the first two weeks of January).
SD: 10/6/17
CC: 11/22/17
Interview scheduled: 11/30/17
Interview date: 1/30/18

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from Keith & Arileidi in Sessions ending federal policy that let legal pot flourish
As a libertarian, I am for legalization of any drug (and education about them).
It would decrease criminal activities and increase awareness (and the quality of the product).
No matter what, people who want to smoke pot (or do almost any other kind of drug) do it anyways.

At least I'd liberalize (and regulate) all the recreational drugs. We all know kids are going to use them anyways.

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from geowrian in Tourist Visa after 2 denials?!
I think her mom's partner has no USC children. The OP's mom does but she has a tourist visa already.
I guess the red flag is that she's divorced and with a child who is a minor?
Is there a silent rule that red flags single women?
OP: could it be that she has any sort of criminal record (maybe she's keeping it private - understandably)?

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from Dashinka in Former Watergate prosecutor: 'Conspiracy,' not collusion, is main issue in Russia investigation
Hillary and her people wrote those embarrassing emails, not Trump.
Emails and other docs are stolen every day and put online. These ended up on Wikipedia.
What's the conspiracy?
Better look at what Hillary did instead.... oh man, did we dodge a bullet!

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from TBoneTX in Which tax return to use?
You have till mid April.
Actually, if it's more advantageous to file jointly and you don't have your SSN by April, have your spouse file for an extension (with your name as spouse and 'APPLIED FOR' in the SSN box) and then file for the return when you get your SSN.

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from jayjayj in President Announces Moving Embassy to Jerusalem
Israel is a sovereign nation. Israel decides what its Capital is, not the UN.
Israel is not 'occupying' territories. Israel won several wars (which they never started, btw) and it took those territories (for self-defense, to be noted).

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from jayjayj in President Announces Moving Embassy to Jerusalem
One little difference: the capital of West Germany was Bonn, not West Berlin.
The capital of Israel is Jerusalem.
And who's bullying who? A bunch of crooks telling two sovereign nations where their capital city should be and where they should have their embassy.
Close the UN circus, now.

Can't wait to see our Govt cut the funding for this ridiculous and annoying (I work a few blocks away) CIRCUS.
Take names, they will remember this.
I'm ashamed to also be an Italian citizen and to have had my govt vote for this nonsense.
The capital of Israel is Jerusalem. Enough said.
Also, I'm pretty good at geography and history. I don't recall any State called Palestine. Palestine was a British mandate. Israel declared independence in 1948. Whoever stayed in (Arabs included) became Israeli citizens. Other people left thinking the State would be destroyed. They were wrong, too bad.

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from The Nature Boy in Fact Check: The Math Adds Up for Trump’s Claim That USPS Undercharges Amazon
It's really simple to check.
A company which loses $60bn/year is either charging too little or spending too much.
In this case probably both.

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from hopelifebetter201 in should I file tax return jointly with my non-resident wife.
1.no
2. I don't know when she will have a SSN, it depends on when she gets admitted. You can still file for an extension and wait to see what happens. If she has a SSN before the extended deadline of Oct 15, then you can use that and file MFJ. Please know that it is an extension to file, not an extension to pay, so if you have a balance due, it must be paid with the extension by Apr 15.
3. No idea. What paperwork? If you send a W-7 with the proper documentation with the tax return, you will get an ITIN number back in a few weeks.
-
Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from hopelifebetter201 in should I file tax return jointly with my non-resident wife.
If you're filing as MFS she does not need an ITIN.
If MFJ is the best way (double check. Also double check the prep fee if she holds assets overseas), then you have the option to file for an extension and hopefully by Oct 15 she will have a SSN.

Italian_in_NYC got a reaction from Penguin_ie in Money gift from foreigner living abroad to USC
Correct.
Just to be extra-safe have them write 'gift' on the description memo when they wire it.
Also, if all gifts or bequests from NRAs are $100,000 or more, you need to file form 3520 (potential stiff penalties and statute of limitations on the return doesn't even begin to run if you don't comply).
