If your I-751 has already been approved, no your husband doesn't need to go. But if it's still pending then you should bring him so they can do the dual interview with him if they need to.

I’m sorry that you felt my response was rude. When somebody has gone to the trouble to find you the relevant info you need to answer your question and to respond to you, I can assure you they’re not just doing it to try and make you feel stupid. Frankly, I have better things to do with my time. I have kids, several businesses, I’ve recently moved to the US myself. Etc, etc. I have enough going on and don’t need to spend my time doing that.

I posted what would give you the answer you need, and just didn’t feel the need to add any commentary or opinion to it.

I didn’t know you’d seen the website I gave you already. If you had then I’m not sure how there was any confusion. You say it ‘refers generally to anybody passing through’ but there’s a specific ‘do you need a visa link’ on it for each person to get their own specific answer. That tells you that no visa is required for your circumstances.

There, was that wordy enough for you? 😂

Visa Journey is a DIY site.  When a member responds with a link, they are pointing you to the source for the answer to your question.  I would prefer an actual source as compared to just a personal opinion....just my opinion.

i just did UK visa last july 2023. $136 at that time filed the first day im eligible to apply ( 3 months before the trip)and already completed the trip in October. if u wanna save money for shipping, u can send with whatever mail service TO NYC. it doesnt have to be UPS. i bought UPS 2 DAY AIR ( u cant do 3 days ground ), either 1 day or 2 day air, via shipstation and just put the label inside the envelope. only cost me $10 ( new england). VFS such a racket but unfortunately many countries use their service. their customer service is super horrible. its like they dont understand english. i asked A, they answered Z.

usps "lost" my package for 2 weeks before they found it. by then i already did new passport ( need to go to NYC !) so i just role the dice, and they actually approved my application and put the vignette / visa sticker on my old passport that's void. what i did when i enter UK, i brought both old passport + visa and also my new passport. no problem

We are in the middle of the UK visa process right now trying to pull off a tourist trip.  VFS cleverly tries to lead you into costly "added-value services" that are not required or even helpful in many cases. Read the fine print and chose the "free" (well included at no extra cost in the $152 visa fee) free biometrics at a USCIS Application Support Center, and free self-upload of documents, and pay for and print your own UPS return label and mail it off to New York City.    Or.......  I could pay $82 extra and drive 2 1/2 hours to Los Angeles to unnecessarily pay them for the "added-value service" of VFS scanning and uploading the documents for me, rather than me just uploading them from my PC.

The application is all online, the only required fee is $152.  The only required appearance is biometrics at the same USCIS ASC they got biometrics done for removal of conditions, the only required interaction with VFS is the free self-upload option, and you pay round trip UPS to send in the passport to VFS in NYC and prepay UPS for a return label..

And is not in the Schengen area.

We recently looked at Greece.  They seem to often be considered fairly easy to approve a visa but frequently give single entry and EXACTLY the time you say with little or no leeway on dates.

We fired off an online UK tourist visa application just this week for my wife and stepdaughter as Green Card holders.  Biometrics is at the local USCIS Application Support Center which I assume means the UK Home Office and USCIS are on really friendly terms.  After biometrics with USCIS the rest is online and mail their passports off to New York, hopefully to come back with visas.   I cannot comment on how successful that endeavor will be so far, but I can update whenever we get a decision from UK.  Their biometrics are this coming Tuesday and we will mail off the passports immediately after the appointment.

If in Florida the Japan Consulate is Miami but they still take applications by mail https://www.miami.us.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/visa_temporary_visitor.html

In our experience, traveling with my wife on her "challenged"  Philippine passport before we were married and before she had a green card, Japan is hands down the easiest first world G7 "visa country" by a long shot.  There are no biometrics and in the US I believe it could all be done pretty easily by mail.  For Schengen she was denied a visa by France, so we went embassy shopping based on statistics that the Netherlands was the most generous towards Philippine passports and she was approved by the Netherlands.  (and then we went to France)  For the OP though be aware that the Netherlands is definitely friendly towards Filipino passports but that does not translate into most friendly towards all nationalities passports.  I seem to recall them having high reject rates towards Muslim and African county's passports.  Chile was a kind of easy visa for a Philippine passport and I was really impressed by that country.  Korea allows US Permanent Residents who are in transit between the US and a third country to enter Korea visa free for up to 30 days.  IE if you took Korean Air from the US to Singapore via Incheon you could stopover up to 30 days visa free in Korea and no visa required for Singapore either.  Korean visas are pretty easy too if you just wanted to go straight there.

To add to what the others already noted, in addition to the US federal income tax you will also owe state income tax living in California - this gets complicated real fast, especially with pensions and other tax-deferred savings down the line. Definitely talk to professionals and consider what your long-term plans are, including where you will retire.

Health care certainly also comes into play, does your wife already have an insurance that you can join or would you sign up for a new one? These days many insurance plans are high-deductible which qualifies for an HSA (Health Savings Account) that has multiple tax benefits - participating in that will be difficult if all your income is in the UK.

    1.  Yes.  Almost of my wife's income goes into her home-country accounts (as it is from a foreign source).  She simply transfers some of it to her US account as needed.
    2.  You will definitively have to report that income to the IRS via US taxes (All world-wide income must be reported).  However, I would absolutely consult a qualified tax pro who is competent in world-wide income reporting since it might qualify for foreign income exclusion.  I also highly suggest that tax pro help you decide the best tax strategy (joint vs separate filing) for your first tax year in the US.
    3.  The only advantage I see is to avoid the hassle of transferring funds if needed.   Others here might have other thoughts.
    Good luck on your move.

Thanks! That was taken a couple of days before Mini-M+K was born. They decided to kindly test the portable crib and made sure it's fit for purpose.

Then when mini-MK came home and was wailing these two decided he's a cat too and meowed back, that was a funny conversation. Never repeated since, they reverted to only miaowing when they beg (youngster) or demand (big brother) their food.

Though the youngster would chirp at birds too.

@Ontarkiecongratulations! Yeah, with mius two is definitely better, glad your Hillbilly consented to it. We initially adopted only one, and when we got a second to keep him initially they fought quite a bit (the younger one is really attached to the older one, the older one too, but youngster likes to play rough) but it seems they are basically a bonded pair now.

Very different personality wise, youngster gets easily scared by hoomans or changes in environment while the older brother is crazy for cuddles and like exploring new places - so it's good for them to have each other for company.

We did it! 96 people from 41 countries. Only a minority wear a suit and some actually wear jeans or even... a tracksuit. No tie either. With a sport coat, buttoned shirt and dress pants I was probably in the top 5% for attire.

No question asked when my wife only had a GC but they took my EAD/AP too. The person in front of me had 10 cards!

Overall a smooth experience. The judge was an immigrant himself (came with his parents and siblings) and took his oath in the same courtroom

Sounds like his Mexican employer transferred him on a L1 and she has a L2? There are not many work visa's where the spouse can work.

She could ask her Employer to sponsor her but any of the likely options would not allow her Husband to work.

Not Brazil, but in my wife's case Russia.  Until my wife naturalized, we always booked her tickets in her maiden name to match her Russian passport, then she always kept a copy of the marriage certificate with her.  She would get on flights with her Russian passport, then when returning to the US, show her GC to board the US bound flight and if anyone asked, show them the marriage certificate.  No one ever asked.  Now that she has a US passport, we book all her international flights using her US passport in her married name, and any Russia domestic flights using her Russian passport.

Employers cannot demand to see a green card. They should be happy with unrestricted SS card and DL. But yes, citizenship status update is very important. It's just @AffableAndy talked about unrestricted SS card. That can be done way before becoming a citizen.

I certainly do not profess to be an expert but I know the basics. And this one was pretty easy to spot.

The odd thing is that neither the Employer or the OP had done any basic research to see if they met the requirements.

I think we can safely assume a Lawyer was not involved.

To answer one of the other questions are Job Titles/Qualifications massaged to meet the requirements well of course they are but there is only so far you can do that.

So at my oath ceremony in Minneapolis, SSA officials were actually at the ceremony, and they had us update our records during the ceremony online and then turn the paper forms in. So I actually updated mine on the day of my oath ceremony (along with a significant number of the other ~1000ish people there), and got my updated, restriction free SS card in the mail about two weeks later.

YMMV obviously, but I'd probably just go.
