I dont know if the K1 process is different. But my husband and I received our interview letter about week and half after we submitted all of the required documents to NVC.

Kit al kitab means you are halal to each other and married 😕 I dont know how they do it in Amman but usually the imam will submit the documents later if it isnt submitted by the couple. even then, if you get to the interview and they find out you did the kit al kitab its all over.

When I requested to add my joint sponsor he was approved within an hour. When you request to add a joint sponsor you add their proof of us citizenship and something else but I can’t remember what off of the top of my head. Then once they accept your request you should be able to upload all of your joint sponsors documents

rocky95 got a reaction from TBoneTX in Can I change my K-1Visa to CR-1
So I consider myself very very lucky. I switched from K-1 to Cr-1 after waiting an entire 12 months. My CR-1 was approved four months after the switch and we are currently at NVC. We got really lucky in the sense that they never closed our K1 application and so when they naturally got to process our old K1 visa, they saw that we had an active Cr-1 visa. They denied the K1 and approved the CR-1 same day (they sent a letter saying that was the reason for the denial, and that the approved the CR-1 instead....so I know that the old active K1 visa played a huge part in how things got approved so fast for our CR-1).
My husband and I both took the risk willing to wait another two years to hear back for the CR-1 just because of how much benefits it provide (we only did K-1 at first because of border closures). So we were pleasantly surprised when we heard back a lot sooner.

You won’t be able to add anything until the joint sponsor is accepted

No. Only fill it in if you have assets which you consider adequate to reach the requirement. But you must complete the earlier sections regarding income for the past 3 years and current income .. even if the amount is low or zero and the tax filing questions

our Algerian friend (here in the US) had the letter of exemption as one leg is shorter than other
he says his wife sent it in with CEAC supporting documents and he took original to interview but the CO never asked to see it
so , who knows, if the CO who does interview is Algerian hire by embassy , they may consider it important
if the CO is USC maybe not as important
when u call the embassy , u don't get the person who knows about interviews / that's why u need to do the contact form

The documents needed are there. AOS/financial documents and Civil documents. Re-read and you'll see them under those sections.

Hello Everyone!!!!!!!
I use to be a K1 filer, but switched over to I-130. I switched over this July. Several of you guys wanted an update, to see how things would turn out, since I basically waited a year for the K1 and decided to abandon it.
Its been about 4 months for my I-130 application and I just received approval today!!!!! I truly think that my K1 application even though abandoned helped moved my I-130 application along. I am glad that a majority of us are now at the NVC stage and hope we are all united with our partners very soon ❤️❤️

Thank you!
No I didn't. I use to be a fiance visa applicant. My fiance(now husband) originally filed for fiance visa because the borders were closed and we couldn't get married. We basically waited a full year on the fiance visa and still didn't hear anything back. They finally opened the borders this July and my husband and I decided to abandon the fiance visa and get married.
Everyone told us that we would have to start over with the immigration process and all the time we waited would be for nothing, but we didn't care because the green card it just so much better. So we applied for the I-130 in July two weeks after we got married. When I sent in my I-130 application I also sent them a letter saying that we got married and would no longer pursuing the fiance visa anymore. Well they never closed our fiance visa case (I think because my withdrawal letter was sent with my application to the Vermont center instead of the California center where my fiance visa was at)......
So around this time is when our fiance visa would have gotten approved if we stuck with it. I think what happened was, they got to our old fiance visa application because it was about that time to review it and saw the I-130 application and reviewed/ approved that instead.
I guess in a way our old fiance visa because the application was never "closed" it kind of acted like a "k3" and expedited the process!
That is my guess, because the approval was super fast especially for Vermont!

rocky95 got a reaction from Chancy in K1 to I-130 Switch
Hello Everyone,
I just wanted to provide an update on my immigration journey with my husband. I saw something similar happen to another poster and just wanted to let you guys know.
I use to be a K1 visa applicant and then switched over to the I-130 process after a year of waiting. I switched knowing that by doing so I would be starting over completely with the immigration process. However, my husband and I decided that even if we had to wait an additional year or two that in the end it would be worth it since he would be able to work straight away upon arrival, travel, and other things etc.
Our I-130 was processed at the Vermont service center and we received approval today (about four months which is insanely fast especially for this service center). Our K1 was not yet closed, and theoretically if we had stuck with the k1 visa it would have been approved around this time. Because this has happened to another poster, I think that our k1 visa inadvertently expedited our I-130 case.
I wish everyone the best on their immigration journey!
