  1. Ditto. The vast majority of cases go under review after interview (regardless of whether you are told explicitly or not), and the famous "on the spot" approval, while it certainly exists, is not the experience of the vast majority interviewees. Hopefully you will hear shortly!
  2. Always be honest. Lies (no matter how big or small) have a horrible habit of unravelling, particularly in pressure situations, not to mention the fact that lying to CBP is fraud. They’re unlikely to bat an eyelid at a visit of a couple of weeks. However, of course, it is always at the discretion of the CBP officer that you interact with. In my experience when I was visiting, the amount of hassle went up in line with the length of stay. Visited for 75+ days once - got a bit more hassle, but they still let me in.
  3. When did you enter the country? By my understanding it is the amount of time left on your I-94 and (not your visa) which is relevant. They won’t issue within two weeks of expiry of I-94.
  4. Oh yeah that must be tough waiting at one of the offices with a longer lead time. Glad the expedite process went well for you. Happy travels!
  5. Wow congrats! I understand that AP expedites are really rare, so I am glad for you that you were able to get one
  6. Wow - THANK YOU - this one had been driving me slightly mad.
  7. Timing can vary a fair bit but mine only took 4 days to arrive when I filed in September
  8. I am sure your reason for wanting to travel after the expiry of the I-94 is a good and valid one. However, as others have said, merely existing in the US after the expiry of I-94 is risky in and of itself, and any random interaction with law enforcement runs the risk of pretty dire consequences for anybody who is not authorised to be in the country. I guess not flying would reduce the risk by some amount, but it is just not possible to reduce that risk down to zero, and frankly taking any amount of unnecessary risk with your ability to remain in the country is not worth it, imo. Seems to me that small/Utah wedding and I-485 filing before expiry is the way to go - it will allow you to live a life with one less thing to have to worry over
  9. Congrats! Nice to know at least that the card printing machine is working 😅
  10. I thought usually it was quite quick, but I got my approval on Saturday and so far no movement. Is yours being produced yet?
  11. Thanks a lot for the info! Much appreciated. The travelling is certainly not an emergency, but it is more than just arbitrary dates - there just happens to be some events going on back home (weddings etc) that I'd like to go to, but if I can't, people will understand. Perhaps I'll look into InfoPass if I still hear nothing more in a couple days, but I suspect you are right that getting an appointment on short notice is probably pretty unlikely.
  12. I had my AoS interview on 5/25 and received an approval notice in my online USCIS account dated 5/28. Since then, the status has not changed from approved, however a service representative online has confirmed that the approval notice has been mailed out (although USPS informed delivery shows it won't arrive today). I have two questions, if anybody has any insight: 1) What is my current legal status? Am I on the same status as a K-1 awaiting AoS adjudication (I think the wording is something like permitted stay by DHS..), or am I now a conditional LPR (albeit with no real proof)? 2) Since my physical GC doesn't seem to be immediately forthcoming, would I be eligible for a GC stamp/I-551? Ideally I'd like to travel overseas towards the end of next week but of course am not prepared to do so without either the physical card or a GC stamp. Thanks!
  13. Worth noting that the global entry remains valid, so once you get your 10 year GC, the global entry will work again for whatever period you have remaining of the original five years.
  14. Update! Woke up to an email from USCIS saying action had been taken on my case. Checked myUSCIS portal but no changes. Several hours later, I got pinged by my Case Tracker app that the I-485 has been approved today! Yahooo!
  15. I know it is really frustrating isn’t it. Only other suggestion I can really think of is to keep a good eye on the processing times of the USCIS website. I know they have recently made noises like they are trying to process all kinds of cases faster. Maybe, if APs generally start moving faster, the priority date for case enquiry will move forwards and you could submit an enquiry. It’s questionable whether APs will speed up and the enquiry dates will move forward, but if they do that would be a good avenue to try and bump your case along. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
  16. I got an RFE for birth certificate at the end of October and responded immediately, online. There was then no movement until they looked at it in the middle of March (so like 4.5 months later), when they immediately approved for interview. So the good news is that you’re probably ready for interview other than this, but unfortunately it can take a while for them to take action after your reply. I got the feeling that they were quite slow for me, so hopefully you will be quicker! Some people on other VJ areas have said that it’s not possible to get EAD/AP if the AoS has something missing, but your application obviously proves this isn’t true as you already have EAD - so hopefully your AP application is still moving along
  17. Yes, you can. But! once your GC is expired and you are entering on GC + extension letter, Global Entry no longer works and you have to be processed by CBP officer.
  18. Hi Guys we just got done with our interview a little while ago. Seemed to go pretty well. The interviewing officer was friendly, and even though his questions were quite direct, he was not intimidating or off putting. Validated some documents first - driving licenses, passports, birth certificates and marriage certificate. Then moved onto some questions about us and our relationship - how we met, when the relationship started, when we got married, what parents think, all about our families. He kind of would ask one of us a question and then after a certain point have the other of us finish the story off. After that, he went through some national security questions and also took some evidence we brought (lease, car title, health insurance and bank/cc statements). No approval on the spot but he confirmed that no changes had been made and then took us through the next stage, ie removal of conditions, so hopefully that is a good sign. We were probably in the interview 25 or so minutes.
  19. Sorry this happened to you and here’s hoping you get a resolution soon.
  20. Really good to know! Thanks! Here's hoping you get your approval soon!
  21. Exciting - congrats on getting through it! I have mine tomorrow - any insight on the kinds of questions they asked? And what evidence were they interested in?Thanks!
  22. I’m in a similar boat to you. Hoping to travel shortly after my interview (which is next week). Looking at the AoS forums it seems there’s not a hard and fast rule as each case differs. However there are plenty of examples of people who get their GC within 21 days of the interview. Best of luck!
  23. Schedule a visit to the SSA office asap, like yesterday. You only have until day 76 after entry for the SSN to be issued and every day counts!
