  1. Oct. 7 Anniversary: Hamas Leader Wants 'New Fronts' of Jihad To all those delusional individuals who still think that Hamas and its Gazan supporters will ever agree to peaceful arbitration, think again. In characteristic form, a Hamas leader just called for an expansion of Jihad at the international level. Hamas, with the financial incentivizing of the Palestinian Authority and the support of the majority of Gazans, plans to wage terrorism on Israel until it is completely wiped off the map. Oct. 7, as horrific and deadly as it was, presents a preview of what Hamas would like to do to all Israelis. As the latest refutation of idiotic Westerners' claims that giving Palestinians more land and money will make them stop fighting, Memri reported that a Hamas leader has ambitious plans for expanding jihad ("holy war" in Islam) on the international level as the "duty of Jihad." 3. Here, FINALLY, are some truths and details about what actually happened. Read it if you can handle it, and watch the 4-minute video of one of the mildest actions by those 7th-century savages. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'Not one girl could be shown to her parents': The horrors of Oct 7 – as told by the survivors [...] an awkward question: how can a country so smart, so Q from James Bond it can set up a factory to manufacture pagers, fit them with mini explosives, have Hezbollah distribute those pagers to all its members and get them to blow up at the same time, have failed to prevent thousands of barbarians breaching its border security and raping, burning and butchering 1,200 of its citizens? So many questions still unanswered from October 7. I put those queries to scores of Israelis – survivors, soldiers, politicians, bereaved parents, mothers of hostages and just regular people who had to step up for their nation on that dark day. Some of what follows is horrifying and hard to bear, I know. I am warning you in case you'd rather not read on. But it is important to write it down. We know how important it is because on the BBC news on Thursday, Hamas's deputy leader told international editor Jeremy Bowen that Hamas didn't set out to kill any Israeli women or children on October 7. Hamas "resistance fighters" were ordered only to kill "occupation fighters", although he did concede that "there were certainly personal mistakes" and the fighters, who just popped into family homes on kibbutzim to have a chat and a bite to eat, "may have felt they were in danger". The accounts told to me by the individuals below, and many others who shared their insights, paint a very different picture. As always, the Devil is in the detail. 4. One year after 10/7 attacks and Democrat-run states have let antisemitism fester [...] It seemed like antisemitism was festering all over the country. But a closer look showed that it wasn't, actually, happening everywhere, it was very specifically happening in places primarily run by Democrats. It's not that antisemitism can't exist in red areas. It can, it does. Vandalism, verbal harassment, even physical assault can happen in Republican-led places. But the occurrence is far rarer and the real difference is the consequences. According to the Anti Defamation League (ADL) "The states with the highest number of incidents were California (1,266), New York (1,218), New Jersey (830), Florida (463) and Massachusetts (440)." Four of those states are blue states. In my red home state of Florida, we had approximately the same number of incidents as Massachusetts while having about three times the population and a third of the incidents of New York despite having over 2 million more people. 5. It's far better to have more than they ask for than to not have something that they do ask for. Treat it as the most serious interview that you'll ever have at any time in the process.
  6. The second case is interesting, but let's please avoid derailing the OP's thread. The OP is sure to return when the posting limit for new members is lifted.
  7. Many will appreciate this information. Thanks for your thoughtfulness in posting it.
  8. Here's the chart that I was looking for! https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pastint.shtml See if any 'canes that have affected you are listed here. Of all U.S. 'canes from 1851 through 2004, the second Indianola 'cane still ranks 4th.
  9. I was wrong -- the 1886 Indianola 'cane was a Category 4 at 925 mbar, 130-mph winds. Only a few later 'canes had lower pressure, two of them Camille (1969, and not by much) and Michael (2018). Interesting chart: https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/hurdat/All_U.S._Hurricanes.html Narrative summary, with photos of Indianola before: https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/es/hurricane_blog/130th-anniversary-of-indianola-hurricane/ The 1875 'cane was Cat 3, 955 mbar. I hate hurricanes.
  10. Can't immediately find the NOAA site about the Indianola 'cane. Here's an article (mostly) about the first 'cane there, in 1875: http://alvyray.com/Family/Stories/Indianola.htm Back then, Indianola was rivaling Galveston as Texas' chief port -- the former chiefly for immigration, the latter for commerce. Today, Indianola consists of only a few fishermen's casas and a statue of LaSalle, gazing 400 yards over Matagorda Bay where the old townsite remains submerged.
  11. Holy mackerel, plus whatever other sea life is tossed onshore. This is even lower than the (?) 942 mbar of the unnamed hurricane that turned Indianola, TX into matchsticks in 1886.

  14. Dad Decides It's Time To Have 'The Talk' With Son About Rigged Elections GARDEN CITY, UT — Local dad Dave Myers decided it was finally time to pull his teenage son aside this weekend and have "The Talk" with his son about the reality of rigged elections. "Son, I need to talk to you about something serious and important. Do you…do you know where Presidents come from?" Myers asked his son Jordan. "Well, when a political party loves their candidate very much and wants to make that candidate the President of the United States, [...] https://babylonbee.com/news/dad-decides-its-time-to-have-father-son-talk-about-the-facts-of-rigged-elections

  16. Blind and callous. ~~~~~~~~~ 'Joe, That YOU'? Scott Jennings ENDS Kamala for Post PROVING She Doesn't Give a DAMN About Helene Victims Is it our imagination or does it seem like the Biden/Harris administration not only doesn't care about the American people, but they even resent us? Surely there is no politician on this plant that is so out-of-touch and ignorant to accidentally post about sending hundreds of millions to Lebanon while there are thousands and thousands of Americans suffering after Helene ravaged the southeast portion of our country. This is worse than just thoughtless, this is cruel: [...] https://twitchy.com/samj/2024/10/06/kamala-harris-lebanon-post-n2401815
  17. This is beyond belief. Comments? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 'Buckle UP': Volunteer on the Ground in NC Shares DAMNING Thread of His First Direct Encounter with FEMA There has been a good bit of back and forth between people who are actually ON the ground in North Carolina claiming FEMA is doing a lot of not great things and the leftist media and some pundits insisting that's not true and even scolding those of us for reporting it. Thinking this thread from a man literally on the ground in North Carolina describing his actual encounter with FEMA should put the lies the MEDIA are telling to rest. 18. Good for DeSantis! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pinellas County, Florida Dump: 'We're Not Accepting Storm Debris.' Ron DeSantis: 'Yes, You Are.' Pinellas County, Florida, is on a peninsula on Florida's west coast, across Tampa Bay from the city of Tampa. Hurricane Helene hit Pinellas County pretty hard, and many residents and state workers were left with a lot of storm debris to clean up. There was just one problem: the Pinellas County landfill announced it wouldn't be open to accepting storm debris. Governor Ron DeSantis said, "Oh, yeah?" And now, the Pinellas County landfill is back open to storm debris. [...] https://redstate.com/wardclark/2024/10/06/leadership-ron-desantis-orders-closed-dump-opened-for-storm-debris-n2180206

  20. Jonathan Turley is as hot as he ever allows himself to get. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jack Smith's 'October Surprise' was not that surprising…and that is the problem [...] the Justice Department has long followed a policy against making potentially influential filings within 60 or 90 days of an election. One section of the Justice Department manual states "Federal prosecutors… may never select the timing of any action, including investigative steps, criminal charges, or statements, for the purpose of affecting any election." Jack Smith, however, has long dismissed such considerations. For years, Smith has been unrelenting in his demands for a trial before the election. He has even demanded that Donald Trump be barred from standard appellate options in order to expedite his trial. 21. Praying for you, Bro G. Nonemergency surgical operations are typically postponed, at least around here. Let us know. Good to know that you won't shoot us anytime soon, and good pun whether intended or not. Prompt and detailed updates, please.

  24. It's Sunday! Time for our approval-evoking*, good-news-prompting* Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke: *that is, if correlation = causation ============================================= HIS FIRST CONFESSION An old man went to Confession. He told the priest that on Friday night, he'd been in a bar where he met a young woman. "Maybe 22 years old," he said. "A gorgeous blonde. I started lusting, Father." "Yes," said the priest. "Lust is a dangerous sin, my son." "There's more," said the man. "We went back to her place and made passionate love for hours." The priest paused. "And how long has it been since your last confession?" "I've never come. This is my first." "How come this your first confession?" "I'm an atheist." The priest frowned. "Then… why are you telling ME all this?" "Telling YOU?! I'm telling EVERYONE!"
