  2. *** Thread moved from Process & Procedures to Progress Reports *** There is no welcome letter from the NVC. They will only send a notification when the case departs NVC to go to the consulate. If you want to know the case number sooner then you need to contact NVC and request that information.
  3. That’s a very odd request from the consulate. If they mean the original I-129f that was approved by USCIS and stamped as approved, then the consulate is the one that has it as it was sent to them physically from the US.

  5. OP should clarify exactly what he or she used. There are some websites that produce temporary reservations (non-paid, just reserved) that are legitimate and some consulates are okay with just the reservations. Of course there are other websites that do indeed produce fraudulent documents, usually for a fee. There both often referred to as dummy

  12. Employers are not allowed to ask LPRs for re-verification after their 2 year GC expires. Here’s a link to the USCIS manual to show HR in case they ask. https://www.uscis.gov/book/export/html/59502 ”Reverification is also never required when the following documents expire: U.S. passports, U.S. passport cards, Permanent Resident Cards (also known as Green Cards), and List B documents.” Under Avoiding discrimination section: Don’t request that someone who presented an unexpired Permanent Resident Card present a new document when the Permanent Resident Card expires. If he’s changing jobs, present a DL/state ID and unrestricted SSN for I-9 purposes. This is just much easier and hassle free than presenting GC or extension letters.

  18. K1 is a non immigrant visa but treated as an immigrant visa at every step and is processed only by the immigrant visa unit. I see I-129f as an immigrant petition. In any case, the consulate will be aware of any past petitions filed for the beneficiary.

  20. *** Thread moved from Bringing Family Members of US citizens to America (other than spouses/consular processing) to Adjustment of Status work/student/tourist visas *** she remains in what is known as “authorized stay” while the petition is adjudicated.
