I passed my interview . I only brought my passport and my green card to the interview and they didn’t ask any questions about my marriage. Thank you all for your responses!

I mentioned a traffic citation during my interview yesterday. I had a printout of the court docket that showed the fine amount and that it had been paid. The officer said that was all they needed, since it showed that there was no outstanding fine.

I shared my interview experience about a minor traffic ticket before, and I'm going to copy-paste that so maybe someone else may find it helpful in the future:

TL;DR - My suggestion: ALWAYS bring your record to your interview no matter how "minor" you think your ticket was.

Contrary to what I learned from different online platforms that I “did not” have to bring evidence for my speeding ticket (less than $500) to my interview, my interviewer/officer ACTUALLY DID ASK if I had any receipt along with the ticket to show him during the interview when he came across the yes/no question about whether I had been “cited” (I checked “yes” to that question on the N400 form). Fortunately I was prepared and I showed it to him. After he quickly verified he said he was going to change my answer to this question to “no”.

I guess it really depends on the officer, but in my case, I felt lucky at that moment when I was able to show him when he asked. Otherwise who knows? The last thing you want during the interview is to have the officer delay the decision. So I would not take the risk and always be prepared, even that means trying to get a copy from the local DMV.

    My interview
    My interview letter specifically states

"If copies of a document were submitted as evidence with your N400 application, the originals of those documents should be brought to the interview."

Perrrrrfect!! I am just waiting for this kind of confirmed information. Can you copy-paste your LETTER text indicating that you want to update your SS (mentioned in your post above), I just want to re-use same language (remove your personal info in that text). I have updated my notes here: https://tinyurl.com/myUSCNotes

Good to know, so basically from interview to oath took about 2 months.

There are a bunch of threads on passports in the Passports, etc. forum, so I would check there or start a thread there to get the quickest answers:

Hi everyone. My day finally came. Let me break it all down.

    I had a combo i751 and N400.

    I751 filed October 2018.
    N400 filed November 2019.

Previously had N400 interview dates set for

March 2020 - Cancelled due to covid

November 2020 - Cancelled day of appointment. My file could not be located.

January 19th 2021 - USCIS offices closed due to fear of potential riots around inauguration day.

Went for interview today, as mentioned before, it was a combo. Wasn't sure if hubby would be needed but made sure they tagged along just incase (glad I did).

We were both called into the interview room. Agent was super nice. He was slightly short and had a big round belly. Ex Des Plains police officer. Incredible guy. Made sure we were both comfortable and relaxed. He began with I751, we both answered whatever questions he had on that application.

Then came time for N400. Hubby was escorted out, I then had to swear to say the truth. Went through civic questions. Now this part was unexpected. I thought the agents come up with the questions to ask themselves but realized the computer auto-generates the questions for them.

After all that was done. He asked if I had copies of our 2019 tax return as well as 2020 joint bank statements. I had not printed that out so he allowed me to just directly email him 3 statements from 2020 from my mobile app.

And I was done. He told me there was nothing else he needed from me, nothing was pending, he said he will recommend I751 for approval which he said he could get done today after I left and would go ahead and approve N400 after i751 approval.

He told me to expect oath notice in the next 3 weeks or so.

He also mentioned they are short about 10 agents and the previous administration had placed a hiring freeze which made them extremely short staffed. He however mentioned they will now be hiring new agents so the process should be faster as from 2022.

I applied on basis of 3 years marriage but I have a 10 year GC so only the N400 applied for.

I had heard nothing until February 19th that they were reusing my biometrics then almost 6-7 weeks later received the interview notification.

It's just a glitch, pay no attention. Thousands of people received the same message yesterday, and RFEs before the interview is pretty rare (usually when they want more evidence you find out at the actual interview and send it in afterwards), so that makes no sense that so many all of a sudden got RFEs. Definitely a glitch.

Well I am now a citizen.  Interview passed, oath 35 minutes later.  All done.  A huge thank you to all my fellow Visa Journey travelers, your help, support, advice and kind words have been a highlight of this whole process.  Thank you all so much, it would have been so much harder without all of you.  Time to start checking out the post oath forum to decide which order to do things in.  I will still be around for a while in case I can be of help to others.  May those still on their journey have a conclusion soon!

His green card is not tied to being employed.  He's a green card holder who has been outside the US for less than 6 months, so he shouldn't have any problems entering the US.

A work visa ties the person to a particular employer.  Obtaining a green card through an employer has no such restrictions.  That person is just like any other green card holder.  Free to do whatever he wants.
