The rules still apply. He will be required to self quarantine when he arrives and they are taking it very seriously handing out pretty stiff fines if caught.
It would be best for him to head back sooner rather than later as covid numbers are going to skyrocket soon enough and they are dropping much faster back in Canada. His Canadian Health insurance also will be void if he is gone more than 6 months and takes 3 months to get it back. The last thing he wants is to get covid with no health insurance in either country.

There is no automatic extensions for stay just because of the pandemic. You can check their I-94 on this site to see just how long they're allowed in, assuming they came by plane. You do have alternative options, you may try to file an I-539 to extend his visitor status, or you can skip the K-1 altogether by getting married ASAP and filing for AOS alongside an I-130. Note than an I-539 is not guaranteed to be accepted, and they will not be able to leave with a pending AOS before receiving their green card or AP. If I were you, I'd be tempted to go for AOS right away, especially because of fee changes causing the AOS/EAD/AP package to double in price starting October. I understand you're in AP in Montreal, but the embassy has not shown any signs of resuming services anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure that the non-existent federal government response is worse though. You know, the reason people are dying. The fight against mask mandates by local politicians isn't helpful either. But sure, the media is what causes unnecessary heartache, not the ridiculous and tragic amount of deaths and infections.

THANK GOODNESS certain professional athletes are now exempt from the proclamation and able to be issued visas...definitely deserving of “mission-critical” status. 🙄

Nothing on my end either but I was happy to see that May date that you had stated. Guess we will see what happens but I am defiantly crossing my fingers for June at the latest.

Very encouraged by today's news that daycares and elementary schools are planning to open May 11th/19th (Quebec/Montreal) depending on how case numbers go. It's a huge step towards reopening and I hope it is successful.

Wow, I'm depressed. My fiance's K1 interview was meant to be March 18th and I flew to the UK to attend with him and to celebrate that part of this long process was coming to an end. Instead it was cancelled and I had to cut my trip short by two weeks to return back to the states. Now everything is up in the air and if the offices don't open back up in a few weeks our wedding will have to be postponed until who knows when. This all is just so terrible and unexpected and chaotic. There are worse things in this world, but being so close to the end of this process to have it ripped away feels like a slap in the face. How are other people in a similar situation coping?
