Has anyone ever asked for a certified true copy of their naturalization certificate during this pandemic? Is it possible? Trying to call to schedule an infopass. I’m planning to apply for a passport and im afraid of sending my original naturalization certificate that might potentially get lost in the mail.

You won't get an info pass at this time.

Right now 150,000 people a week send their certificates.

I sweated for 6 weeks to get it back.

The passport has a smaller chance of getting lost, as its Priority mail, and once you have that the certificate, is secondary.

    Passport is proof now.

Isn't the status already changed to U.S. citizen as soon as he receives the naturalization certificate? Naturalization certificate and passport can be reapplied later if lost.

The certificate is also proof the correct person is applying, not a scam.

It would be nice if supplied with a passport during the ceremony along with your certificate.

But there are 2 agencies involved. USCIS and State Department. They don't talk to each other.

Guys if anyone can pls help me on this ..... my PP was approved on Friday around 11pm. I called the call center on Monday and they said it’s being prepared to be shipped that same day and they gave me the tracking number. I was only able to track when it left Arkansas but now all I see on the tracker “ it’s in the USPS system “.
How long does it take for USPS take to deliver Passport priority mails? I have read stories of people getting their mails missed up ..... I hope I won’t fall in that.

    thanks!

    3 days max.

Man I hate USPS. First of all it took 11 weeks for my passport to be processed and now it was shipped since 9/4 and I still have not got it. I see on tracking website that since yesterday morning it has been sitting at USPS location with a wrong zip code!!! They sent it to the wrong post office for distribution. Ridiculous, its like some voodoo has been done to make sure I don't receive it without hassles.

This is weird, I have a USPS Priority package coming from Houston, tracking shows leaving Houston arriving in it Phoenix, the back to Houston? Im in LA

Maybe a USPS truck went the wrong way?

With the FIFO principle I was supposed to have received my passport already, because the number of issued passports up to now is already greater than the number of awaiting + received on the week on July 23-29.... :(

It would be useful to know the percentage of passports that are expedited or don't follow the FIFO rule.

Now you need to figure in the individual agency that is processing your passport.

Your passport is randomly assigned to one of 25 offices.

The only expedited passports are military and their families, which is at its peak right now, as the stop move order has been lifted.

Some need 2 passports, official, and tourist.

I only got mine last week (6 weeks,1 day)

    You're due but not overdue.

Can anyone help me understand why it is taking so long for them to process my passport and help me calculate when can I expect it just by using the numbers?

I sent the application on July 20, My status changed to "In Process" on July 24. It is being processed in Chicago.

A person from another forum sent their application to the Chicago Passport Center on July 15 and on August 27 they received their passport (6 weeks).

My status is still "In Process".

On the week of July 23-29 there were 1,150,000 passports awaiting issuance.

From Jul 23 to Sep 10 1,002,000 new applications were received.

Adding these two numbers = 2,152,000

A total of 1,316,000 passports were issued between July 23 and September 10.

The Department of State says that applications will be processed in the order they were received.

I am calculating that there are 2,152,000 - 1,316,000 = 836,000 applications in front of mine.

From September 4 to 10 there were 110,000 applications received and 129,000 passports issued, which gives us a difference of only 19,000 passports.

if it goes on this rate, it will take 44 more weeks (836/19) for them to process my passport 😨 !!!????

Is there a more optimistic way to do this math?

    Yes!!

You're not using the FIFO principle.

    Friends,

My wife is doing her US Citizenship pretty soon, our attorney is supposed to be mailing in her paperwork any day now.
We have been studying the 100 questions, and she can answer 98% of them correctly on the first try, so no worries there.

She is still learning the English language and can answer basic questions. My question for you guys, are there any tools or websites to help with the reading and writing portion?
I know the USCIS brochure has a list of "words" that can be used for the Reading and Writing, but are there any list of examples that we can try to work on?

You have nearly a year before an interview.

I was fluent without an accent in  year. She can do it with your help.

I am starting to believe that their first goal was to reduce number of awaiting passports to less than a million, and now they are slowing down. There are many agencies are phase two, but they are still slowing down each  week.

Well, Labor day was Monday, so that explains the drop off .

    No work Monday, hangovers Tuesday.

The chart is for Thursday through Wednesday.

Quoting your earlier post above, didn't copy right.

Called the #877 and they stated mine is at New Orleans Application Center which went to Phase 2 on August 24... Not really sure whether phase's matter, since the status on the webpage says my application will be reviewed when it hits Phase 3, but the guy on the phone said that that isn't the case and he's seen applications get processed from all different offices with all different phases.

Hoping I'm just a few weeks away from the center getting to my application.

Mine is at New Orleans too...

See this is where we need educated USPS workers. My usps had a worker who lacked total knowledge. Infact added irrelevant things on my application manually. 🙄   Need to breath here and not get mad. I still cant track my application even after the check has been cashed. Wish i had gone to another USPS.

It will track by tomorrow, it was only cashed today per your entry.
