jess.y reacted to aaron2020 in Married to US Citizen, left to visit Canada but now denied re-entry to the US by CBP officer -- Help!
If she has to quit to get time off to go to Canada, then wouldn't she have to quit to go to Mexico, Europe, or anywhere else?

jess.y got a reaction from midsummer in NOVEMBER 2020 K-1 NOA2 to NVC to EMBASSY
I received my passport yesterday, after 2 plus weeks after my interview. In Taiwan, that's considered a long wait.
My fiance had to write them an email and only then was my status changed to issued. I feel like they forgot about my case...
Anyway, I got my passport BUT my petitioner's name in the annotation part was misspelled.
So I guess I have to send it back and get it fixed. What a process!

My status at CEAC was changed today to say it has been issued. Everything happened exactly as the Consulate said it would.
I so hope that everyone who is still waiting receives the same good news and that it arrives very soon. It's been such a long and difficult wait for all of us and I can't wait to come back and see the same, happy, updates from everyone in our group. ❤️

jess.y reacted to JonSeattle in question about name change
On your timeline it says that you have not filed for AOS yet. If that is correct, then I think the warning about the delay with the green card is not applicable to you. That is because if you get a court ordered name middle change after marriage, but before sending in the AOS paperwork, then your new middle and last names will already be on there.
A court-ordered name change for an adult in King County can be completed in one day. Ours took longer because the judge had questions about the name change for my step-daughter, and we had to reschedule so there would be a court-provided interpreter for my wife.

I had my medical on the 9th and the interview on the 10th. We are approved pending the results of the medical so a formal status of refused for right now. The medical report should arrive at the consulate early next week so will start refreshing the status page of the CEAC site from Tuesday or Wednesday next week

The hassle is not with the court. The hassle is sending in your green card to change your name. Paying the $455 fee plus the $85 biometric fee. You could be without a green card for a year. That's not a good situation to be in and that is why it's better to change your name when you naturalize.

jess.y reacted to Crazy Cat in K1 approved but Embassy says administritive processing required!!!
In my mind, administrative processing can be anything from waiting until ink is replaced in the visa printer to investigating the backgrounds of the applicant or petitioner. In some countries, I think background checks are the primary reason. Just my thoughts.

That's going to depend on the state your getting married. Some states only allow you to change your last name. Some will let you change everything.

You can not add an English middle name with a marriage certificate. You can change your last name to your spouse's last name or make it a combination of your last names.
If you want an English middle name, you will need to file a case with the local state court. This would take time. You would get your green card with your current name or married name. If a state court adds a middle name, then you would have to pay the I-90 fee to update your green card. You would need to send in your green card and wait 6-12 months or more to get your new card.
Just wait until you naturalize to make a legal name change. It's the easiest way.

It's not hard to get a court order to change your middle name, and then you don't have to worry about.

I have checked and rechecked my documents and the emails they sent me so many times just to make sure I haven't missed a thing and I know I'll check it many more times before my interview. I wish you every luck with your interview ❤️

Happy to see all your cases moving forward! (I guess most of you? Not all...)
I have my interview scheduled for later this month, and I'm pretty terrified. Less so about the interview itself, but worried that they'll think some of my documents are incomplete, etc.
Anyway. good luck to you all and please remember to update your timelines!

jess.y got a reaction from midsummer in NOVEMBER 2020 K-1 NOA2 to NVC to EMBASSY
We called NVC right after christmas to see if they had our case number, and they told us while they received our case, they were still working on it.
Today we got an email with our case number and an in transit to consulate notice.
Super excited. Would it be okay to fill out DS160 and pay the fee now?

Hello guys
I had my interview at the US Embassy in Yaounde, Cameroon on Monday 21 of December and got approved pending medical examination. I am told my medical examination will be available in two weeks before my visa will be stamped.
Thanks for all your support.

Hello filers! I'm back with an update!
This is a 2 week update so the numbers will be higher than we're used to...
There are 1055 outstanding RFEs for March.
425 March notices approved in the last 2 weeks (Amazing! - I see a lot of you are now among these - keep positive, those of you that haven't seen an answer... as you can see, they're really getting through the files)
We're at 2193 total approvals for our month, and there are 1741 outstanding petitions either in RFE or unchecked.
Stay strong. Keep positive - there's definite movement!

Plenty of us have been or are currently in your shoes. My NOA1 was March 10 and I was only approved last week, after seeing plenty of others after me get approved. I don't think you have to worry. Things are just slow, and there is no concrete order. Calling really won't help much, neither will filing inquiry after inquiry. This is of course, my own opinion and experience. Taking longer doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.
