UPDATE:  Interview was on the 22nd, denied due to pending medical.  They received it a few days post interview.
Yesterday, received email that visa was APPROVED!
Mailed parcel with satchel and passport this AM.
Will apply for exemption shortly and continue to update.
    Thanks all!

Australian citizens stranded overseas have been waiting to return for almost a year so I wouldn't count on it honestly. People have talked about getting bumped off flights they've booked to return home. We've decided to have two weddings: the official, legal, wedding and the wedding we want to have. We'll have that one when we're through the other side of the pandemic.

I think you will need to contact the Consulate. They may need to re-print the visa.

They email you with an appointment and you let them know if you can make it on that day or if you want to reschedule.

Yes, make an account. This is where you pay your visa fee.

Lower passenger numbers perhaps but fewer arrival airports causing some funneling. I was through LAX mid December 2020 snd it was quieter but US air travel is now getting back to levels it was 12 months ago .. domestic is now reasonably busy. Probable the only way to guarantee a quick passage through CBP is to take the longer layover !!! You may be able to get on the earlier flight if that happens.

It can vary greatly. Assuming you are entering at LAX... it might be wise to take a little longer gap as you need to recheck baggage and change terminals fir onward flights and this can add more time than you think.

Yeah, I did it in July, 2020. I had a whole lot of evidence and was accepted. I'm not sure what has changed since then though. I had a lot of proof regarding canceling/selling everything for my daughter and I as well as my now-husband needing me as he is high risk for COVID.

They are processing K-1s. I couldn't say how long it will take between your NOA2, case number etc. because mine happened over the holiday period where everything takes more time. I can tell you that once Sydney request the case, the time between that and the arrival of your paperwork at the Consulate is short - about a week. My interview was scheduled for just over a week after they received everything they needed from us. We did not request an expedite. Your mileage will vary.

You can also use a phone to take a picture of your passport. If it is legible, in colour, and can be read after printing, you have done it right

I received my passport yesterday, after 2 plus weeks after my interview. In Taiwan, that's considered a long wait.
My fiance had to write them an email and only then was my status changed to issued. I feel like they forgot about my case...
Anyway, I got my passport BUT my petitioner's name in the annotation part was misspelled.
So I guess I have to send it back and get it fixed. What a process!

Your fiancé’s family will have to request exemptions to travel. Your fiancé is exempt and will be able to leave on a one way ticket.

Your fiancé’s family will be subject to local quarantine orders should they visit the US and go back to AUS.

I wouldn’t wait for AUS local laws to change to get your fiancé here and have a ceremony. My fiancé and myself will visit Australia later and have a party then. Totally normal these days. Goodluck.

midsummer got a reaction from ducksauce in Sydney K1 Interview - Original Birth Certificate Question
I believe you have to have original copies of all your documents albeit when it comes to the birth certificate it differs a little. I was born in the UK and applied for a full version of my birth certificate (my original was a short version). The full version was issued to me as a certified copy but it was still an original document because it was generated from the original source and it was -not- a copy made by me and certified by a Justice of the Peace. It took a couple of months for it to be produced and sent to me at my home in Australia.

You don't say where in the world your fiancée was born so it's going to be hard to get any specific advice here without that information. I would write to the Consulate in Sydney to find out what they require. Their email address is published on the site on the consulate contacts page. Best of luck to you

That's interesting...I doubt you will need it, just send your visa. It just said that the govt should let us leave the country because we have been working on US immigration for years lol.

My status at CEAC was changed today to say it has been issued. Everything happened exactly as the Consulate said it would.

I so hope that everyone who is still waiting receives the same good news and that it arrives very soon. It's been such a long and difficult wait for all of us and I can't wait to come back and see the same, happy, updates from everyone in our group. ❤️
