Sierra TC got a reaction from JustCallmeAL in I-751 February 2024 filers
Hello! It's been a while since I've been on VJ but we sent our I-751 last week, it was delivered Monday and we received the USCIS text notification yesterday. Our online case history shows "Case was received."
Good luck to everyone!

March 9 our status changed to "Interview Scheduled." We are still waiting for the appointment letter to arrive in the mail.

Sierra TC reacted to MrsAb2021 in 2021 Tax Filing - Stimulus
Just wanted to add here. Husband is here on a K-1 with a pending AOS. We went to Jackson Hewitt and had our taxes done, he was eligible for the $1400 as well. When I asked about it, I was told if you were married during 2021 and he lived here then they are eligible. He said as long as you have a valid SSN, it doesn't matter.
Something to check out so you can get your correct amount!

Sierra TC reacted to Coin3 in 2021 Tax Filing - Stimulus
I just want to update here that my wife and I received our tax refund, and she was approved for the $1400 Recovery Rebate Credit. We went through an H&R Block Tax Pro, so that they could override their software's assumption that she wasn't eligible, and so that they could attach our statement declaring her as a US resident for tax purposes and still e-file. We received our refund just a couple weeks later.

I always go by the instructions for the 1040 when doing a return. I don’t see any mention of “work authorization” so would claim the credit. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf
Instructions page 57
Generally, you are eligible to claim the recovery rebate credit if in 2021 you (or your spouse if filing a joint return) were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident ali- en, weren't a dependent of another tax- payer, and have a valid social security number.
Instructions page 58
Valid social security number. A valid social security number is one that is issued on or before the due date of your 2021 return (including extensions).

It doesn't matter. He's eligible for the 3rd stimulus.

Sierra TC reacted to Wuozopo in 2021 Tax Filing - Stimulus
it’s a 2021 stimulus. Your tax program figures the allowed stimulus for both of you (joint return) so $2800. Then it asks how much was already received. $1400.
$2800 (minus) $1400 = $1400 balance due, paid as a credit.
If he didn’t has a SSN, he wouldn’t be eligible.

You're not treating him a US Citizen, you're treating him as a resident alien. He's eligible for the 3rd stimulus check as he's been considered a resident alien for 2021 and has a SSN.

We sent out AOS on 10.15 - it was delivered on 10.19. Still no word yet fingers crossed we'll hear something soon, ours was mailed to the Phoenix AZ lockbox.

Sierra TC reacted to HRQX in AOS paperwork - last name change for petitioner
Yes, use your new married last name in the forms (I-864, I-485, etc.). The marriage certificate is sufficient proof to use the new last name.
If you are referring to a name change through court then such process is unnecessary. As mentioned above, just the marriage certificate is sufficient.

Sierra TC got a reaction from Mexis2020 in K-1 NVC to Embassy (CDMX) but no welcome letter/cannot pay invoice
Hello,
I will try to answer these the best I can. You really don't need the invoice for K1, just the case number that should now start with MEX.
Sometimes there's site issues with logging in CEAC that resolve in a few days. That could also mean they're updating your case. If this doesn't resolve call NVC.
You will likely not receive a welcome letter until your case is 'In Transit' to the embassy. The letter you do receive be sure to print (K1-FTP).
You can complete the DS 160 really at any time, but if you make changes like move you will need to start a new one. Print the confirmation. You will be able to 'link' your completed DS 160 to your profile created to register and pay for your interview at a later time.
Once your case moves from 'In Transit' to 'Ready' you should be on the lookout for mail/email/call for the scheduled appointment notice. This typically goes to the petitioners email but it can go to either. Print this email as well.
You cannot make a payment for the CAS until you've been scheduled an interview. They give you links to create a profile to schedule the biometrics, make a payment, and link your DS 160.
If you're still At NVC I highly recommend that you start working on all of your documents needed for the interview. This can take time and changes with CDMX embassy can happen suddenly. Make sure the beneficiary has a valid passport that does not expire within 6 months.

Sierra TC reacted to JeanneAdil in I-134 for K1 Visa - Working from home
no need they just need info on W2 with company name, company tax # and the address and all your info

Sierra TC reacted to JeanneAdil in I-134 for K1 Visa - Working from home
you get either a W2 or 1099 if they consider you self employed
so, the company address will be the address on that form

Sierra TC got a reaction from Basevi in Questions about I-129F processing time
I received my NOA2 about 9 months after my NOA1 - that was in the thick of the pandemic and talk about USCIS furloughs etc. It also depends on which center your case is being processed. My approval also came a month or so after the "estimated" dates and I had no RFE's.
I was checking mine on the daily and the best advise is don't - this process takes a lot of time and checking it daily will only speed up anxiety but not the process.

Sierra TC got a reaction from Chancy in K Visas - moving from CDJ to MEX
For those of us waiting At NVC for a K1 interview at Cuidad Juarez, new update that ALL K visas will now be scheduled for interview at the Mexico City embassy. My case has been At NVC since November 2020. Today I called the NVC and was provided my new case number which starts with MEX.
