No I-485, I-944, I-765, or I-131 will exist in their process at any point. they will get a physical green card via their immigrant visa (after arrival and payment of the fee).

The I-864s will be submitted at the NVC stage.

Yes. They are separate petitions and separate visas, and will be adjudicated as such. Once you get a welcome letter, you go through NVC processing. The DOS website has the steps. Also check the wiki: https://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process The petition is adjudicated by USCIS. This is the first step. Then it goes to NVC. Then once DQ at NVC, an interview is scheduled with the consulate. Then then interview (along with medical being completed). Then Administrative Processing. Then the visa can be issued. Then POE. See above No I-485 for an immigrant visa. That's only for people already in the US who are seeking a green card, not those abroad. See above No, I-944 is part of the I-485 process, which doesn't apply here. Until the visa expires. This is 6 months max, but is constrained by the validity of the medical exam (usually 6 months, but can be less with certain conditions). No, complete each I-864 separately. The CO will see what's up and account for it accordingly. Financial sponsorship is a major hurdle for parents. Be sure to have plans for medical insurance + OOP expenses. This is something they look closely at, not just minimums. Their age, working history, etc. are factors as well. Note that IR-5 (parents of a USC) are currently bannend under the recent Executive Order (EO). This does not impact you or them now...everything moves as normal. But if that is still the case when they are going to interview, they will be refused until the ban expires or they become exempt. Yes. Just a ~15+ year wait before having to worry about anything other than the I-130. It's a file-and-forget process for them. If unmarried, one of your parents can file for them starting day 1 from entry on their IR-5 visa. This is faster. Also, you can have multiple I-130s at the same time...whichever PD becomes current first, go with that.

My fiancee actually decided to hire someone to help with the final steps of the process leading to the interview, just to help relieve some of the stress and make sure she had everything in order.   She was able to schedule an interview the same day that she tried to do so.  She was given a list of about 3 different dates in February.  We were originally thinking March, but nothing was open during that time.  The person she hired told her that March is usually filled up with people getting student visas.  I'm not sure if that's true or not.  But, I did read that if for some reason there are no days available to you before your time runs out, it will be extended because if was not your fault there were no days available.   The person she hired also said the same thing.

After she got the interview date she later made a medical appointment the same week that we have the interview.  She was told that her medical exam will be in the morning, and that she will be able to pick up the results the next day in the afternoon.

I will be flying out to be with her early next week, as our interview is on Thursday.

I hope that is helpful in someway.

Some but not many embassies have gotten away from the P3 and have posted their requirements/information on their website. Not all embassies have stopped producing P3's. I can name 30 or 35 that still use the P3 to communicate what is required. It's good to stay connected with the sub-forum for Russia as that is where you will get the most current information from others.

We did pay the visa fee after it went to "ready" (and before Anastasia got anything from the Moscow embassy). We didn't get anything informative from the embassy for a while after that; it's not clear to us how much of that was due to holidays (our case hit 'ready' between Christmas and New Year's, and as you're probably well aware, lots of things in Russia are closed pretty much from shortly before New Year's until the 9th or so), the physical copy of the petition not being there yet (the 'DHL hack' didn't show anything being delivered in Moscow until Jan 9), or just processing.

Anastasia didn't try to schedule the medical before she had an interview date.

At Moscow, like almost all embassies/consulates these days, there is no physical 'packet 3'.

Anastasia did get an email with directions from the embassy (almost identical to what's on the embassy web site), and once she got that the calendar was open for her (and due to very good luck at the time, she was able to schedule her interview).

Normally, all communication from the embassy/consulate is going to go to the beneficiary.

I don't know if IOM allows you to schedule a medical without an interview date or not; I explained above why I wouldn't recommend doing it even if it's allowed.
Honestly, Anastasia filled out the DS-160 herself and didn't have any questions for me when she did it. But it's probably the MOS #.

    After getting an interview date.

Not necessary; they'll be fine with documents in Russian, and your fiancee can use her copy of the DS3025 when she gets it to show vaccination records once she's got a doctor in the US.

Two business days is probably the minimum to have things ready in time for the interview (and what Anastasia did). You'll probably want to schedule it as close to the interview date as you can manage because
    1) Your fiancee's visa expiration date is normally based on the medical date
    2) If your fiancee does not live in Moscow, she'd probably prefer to only make one trip to Moscow for the medical and interview.

At least early last year, it was possible to pay the "MRV fee" (which isn't technically for the interview; it's for visa processing) by credit card online. That's what I did.

It wasn't possible to do that for the medical, so Anastasia had to pay that herself.

Anastasia did this, so it was in Russian.

We had the (unusual at the time) experience of having interview dates being available immediately when the calendar opened up (on Jan 14th, 2019), and Anastasia scheduled her interview for Feb 14, though there were some earlier dates in February available. I'm not sure what things are like now; in late 2018/early 2019 it was occasionally possible for dates to come open on very short notice (sometimes even the next day), presumably due to cancellations, though I can't imagine it was practical to take those spots unless your fiancee lived in Moscow.

Please advise.  Do we need to file I-134 or just complete it and send it to the beneficiary for an interview?  When is the best time to complete DS-160?

JurisDoctor reacted to GarrettB in I-134
I am self employed.  I did not provide an employment letter.  My father provided one and tons of info-- bank statements, several years of tax returns, proof of income from other sources, etc.  At the interview, all they wanted was the I-134 form.  They didn't even want any of that documentation or the employment letter!   I asked "Do you need any of this"  "Nope".  The process was far easier than I thought.   I don't know about other embassies but Moscow was not hard.  Everything took 2.5 hours including waiting in a huge line.   We were done by lunch time.

It took about 2 weeks to receive the visa from Pony Express after our interview.  Pony Express is not a very good company.   They couldn't figure out how to deliver to her house, so we went and picked it up.  Must have taken 2 hours on the phone calling and calling to finally get someone who said  it was okay to pick up.  Once we found the place it took 2 minutes, it was just there on the desk.

I didn't have to make a formal request or anything.  When I called the embassy to ask about something else,  I said I was coming with my fiancee and they said that was fine.     Once you have an interview appointment you can just call them and tell them, just to be safe.

JurisDoctor got a reaction from Nikol993 in December 2019 K-1 NOA2 to NVC to Embassy
In process of filling out the DS160. I suppose the DS160 is uniform for all embassies, therefore I ask in this thread. The DS-160 inquires: " Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services? " Does the current Petition for K1 visa considered to be an "immigrant petition" and therefore it has to be answered "YES" and explained as "subject of present petition"? There was no other petitions filed for the person prior to filing of present DS-160. @Greenbaum

JurisDoctor got a reaction from Nikol993 in December 2019 K-1 NOA2 to NVC to Embassy
In my case it is only the present K1 petition, none before or after. I see your point, but there is no word "besides". It simply asks, "Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf ". I am curious if anybody ever inquired about that with the embassies or DOS? I guess the other associated question is: is I-129f an immigrant petition for purpose of this question?

Application receipt refers to the USCIS NOA 2 number. Case number refers to the NVC number. So use the USCIS number.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

    Thanks
