  1. A few questions to the people in the know. @Hank_

There have been a few changes to the information that the Embassy has since its been 8 months since scheduled her scheduled interview.

Interview is now scheduled for Nov 19th.

1 - Does there need to be a new DS160 submitted?  We have had a child since original one was sent.

2 - She has updated Cenomar since hers was out of date

3 - She will need updated NBI also

Anything else that may be needed?

Did they ask you to book a flight and show the itinerary as part of the application? How long did it take to get the visa from when you applied?

You do not have to actually book the flight just print itinerary. But you Do have to prebook covid test and hotel.

See the link here for instructions but please consult the actual consulate for your state, as instructions may vary.

  3. My son was born on June 23rd.

We got the PSA birth certificate back in approx. 2 months.

You MUST have a certified copy of the PSA and a signed affidavit from your fiancé, stating that she and your child are currently in the Philippines.

This and the application and fees need to be sent to the Philippine Consulate that services your state.

I know the affidavit sounds stupid, why else would you send for the Visa?

  4. I sent all documents that were needed from me including the DS-2029 and DS5507. Included originals as well as copies, all my fiancé has to do is add our sons birth certificate and photos and send it to the Embassy.  The instructions for the DS-2029 gives a complete list of everything needed and check list that has to be signed.

Our only issue is the time it took to get PSA birth certificate ( 2 months).

    Hope this helps, good luck.

  5. Although the officer had no real reason to ask for ID from the passenger. It is done quite often.

Maybe since the passenger had no ID (drivers lic or otherwise) and was of foreign decent; the officer was making sure she wasn't a human traffic victim.

Without an explanation from the officer on his actions, one can only speculate as to why or what is thoughts were.

(By the way.... former Police Officer here)

I recommend inundating the DFA Visa Division, IATF Vice President/Cabinet Secretary, PH Consulate and the Secretary of foreign affairs email addresses with requests to add Fiancés of Filipino Citizens to the exemption list. I plan to do so once a week on Mon. every week until allowed in on what ever ground, make it nice and humble but persistent. If anyone would like the email addresses I will be more than happy to furnish them as well as an email template if so desired. I am getting really sick and tired of this ####### and the utter stupidity in general.

This has been done with #Loveisnottourism petition. But the BI Commissioner Jaime Morente put on an email stating that the country was still not allowing foreign tourist unless they meet the restrictions that were put in place by the IATF earlier.

Even if you meet the restrictions, there are several hoops to jump thru once you get to Manila. And even more to go in another Province, as they have their own restrictions above and beyond Manila.

But it never hurts to keep pressing.

  7. Try contacting the airline.

When I was checking on travel from Manila to Legazpi, the airline (Cebu Pacific) stated there was a mandatory 2 week quarantine if you were coming from another province but it did not give any specifics about coming from Manila after you have tested negative.

Not sure why you would have to take another since you were tested and been quarantined in a hotel, then only went from hotel to airport with "hopefully" other negative tested passengers.

But then again.... it's the Philippines.

This was the response from the Philippines consulate in NY.  The website says original documents but notarized photocopies are OK.

    Good day.

You can send us a copy of the birth certificate as long as it was notarized.
A Bank statement and letter of employment is acceptable.

Note: Incomplete requirements will not be processed and must be returned to the applicants.

    Thank you.

In the instructions, it asks for passport. Do you have to send them your actual US passport?

Yes I have heard the same. The pre-approved visa is a must but I heard it’s in place as some foreigners were showing up in Manila without the proper documentation’s mainly the marriage certificate for ones entering on having a spouse.

Having a prebooked accommodation I heard isn’t too bad of a rule and there are many choices.  Most are only there for 2 days with the negative COVID Test results.

i think the best thing I’ve heard from a few others entering the country is that after the negative Covid test results there was no mandatory 2 weeks quarantine.  You were free to go on to your next destination as Long as you could get through all the local travel restrictions. I also heard the process they have in place now is well organised. Surprise surprise.

the Covid test is 4500p upon arrival at NAIA.

I agree, there is no mandatory quarantine if you stay in Manila after you are cleared. The issue comes if you leave and go to another province. Albay has issued a mandatory 2 week quarantine if you come from another province. Since the exact rules are unclear, this may not apply if you have already been cleared from Manila and are just coming unchecked from another province.

Apparently you haven't spent much time there

It sometimes comical over there to watch people cut in line

When I am there , they constantly try to over charge me on everything (because I am American). But as for the push around part? I am 6'1" and around 280 pounds, so "pushing" doesn't work so well on me.

But actually never had anyone other that a couple local teenage boys say anything negative to me.

I have been to Legazpi a few times, Do you like it there? I am not a big fan of Legazpi.  My wife is from a city about 30 minutes from Legazpi called Tabaco, It's really super crowded there and the streets are full of Pedjack (Bicycle non motorized Trikes).  They are an insane amount on the main drag all day long.

My fiance is in Libon, kinda out from the main city. Her family are farmers.

But we only stay in Legazpi when we have too. But, yes traffic is horrible everywhere. Everything from heavy trucks to pedjacks trying to find a place to be. I was shocked there was any straight sheet metal on any vehicle.

It takes over an hour and a half to go from Legazpi to Libon, and that's with me driving.
