I have no idea of what their criteria is. I know that for people who didn't have an AOS interview, the ROC interview is mandatory. There were many AOS interviews waived because of COVID. I read an article about avoiding an interview by having good and complete evidence. I don't know what you're worried about having excluded, so it's hard to speculate. Honestly, it's hard to speculate about these things anyway. I suspect yours will be waived, because it didn't go to MSC.

That makes sense. We did do the AOS interview. And you're right, it's hard to speculate.

My areas of concern are: I submitted joint tax returns instead of tax transcripts, 3 months of joint bank statements rather than 2 years, and didn't include the lease of the apartment we were living in before we bought our home. I'm terrified they'll deny on the basis of "evidence not covering the full 2 years". I know an RFE is far more likely, but I'm anxiety-prone. I regret not reading this forum more extensively before mailing.

It's when it's sent to the National Benefits Center that it's then transferred for interview.  It's unlikely you will have to do another interview, since you did one for AOS

Do you think (and this is probably just speculation, none of us can truly know) that they look through the packet and decide which goes to the NBC and which don't, based on strength of evidence?

I'm currently beating myself up for excluding some things that I learned here I should've included, although I believe our evidence is strong otherwise. It would help to know that USCIS thought the same upon skimming our packet... 😅

  3. Hey guys, I could use some reassurance. Our case was assigned to YSC, as I discovered yesterday. Yippee for the slowest center.

I started delving deep into this forum after I submitted my packet. A lot of folks here submitted 2 years (!!) of bank statements and we only did 3 months. I thought that would be enough. We bought a house in 2021 so I included the joint deed/mortgage docs but I stupidly left out our apartment lease that we were living in beforehand. I also submitted 2019/2020 tax returns, not tax transcripts...

They cashed our check and all that, but this wouldn't be enough to warrant an outright rejection... right? Just an RFE?

How long did other YSC filers take to receive an RFE?

  4. I can't believe it's been two years! Here we are again. 😅

Our thirty day window began September 21st, and I mailed our packet today. I'm a little nervous because I omitted some blank pages that were numbered on a couple of documents... also only did last three months of bank statements, rather than a whole year. If these turn out to be problems, I hope it'll just be an RFE and not a rejection. I think our evidence is really strong, though.

Is it a federally funded means tested benefit that you APPLIED for?

For those nervous about using the STIMULUS money, please contact me and I will be happy to provide my direct deposit information

No need to be snarky, it's a legitimate question. These are unsure times within the context of USCIS' power over peoples' livelihoods.

Just had my interview this morning and here’s my experience:

we had a 10:00 appointment and was called into her office at 10:10. The IO was very professional and kind and that helped my nervousness. In the beginning she said if there’s anything I’d like to show that’s not in the original file, so I gave her bunch of photos (around 70 and she took them all) and life insurance stuff.

    As for questions:

She first asked my husband questions: what’s your spouse name, DOB, parents name, have we had any children, or romantically with anyone after marriage.

Then she turned to me asked: Spouse’s information, have I met his parents, their names. She then asked my have I ever been kicked out of school (I was on f1 visa). Next she went over some yes or no questions, and that was it.

In the end, she said “I’ll look over the stuff you brought today and if everything looks good, you should expect your green card next month”.

She did not give us an answer right away, nor did she give us a 120-day paper either.

i just hope everything went well because I thought if you don’t get approved on spot, you’ll get a 120-day paper.

This sounds exactly like our interview, we also were adjusting fron F-1. Don't sweat it - we also didn't get approved on the spot. We got approved two days later.

Today December 27, 2019 I received my EAD card😊🙏🙏.Thank you everyone for being a very important part of my journey. Without all the members that shares their experiences, struggles, mistakes, hardships, ups and down, problems and everything each of you faced during the immigration application, my journey would not adjudicated in a timely manner. Me and my husband struggles financially, and I don't have the resources to pay for the lawyer to get this done. Being on the dark was really an excruciating fact for all of us! To get everything done successfully, I read, learn, research, read again some more topics here at VJ then update myself with whats new at USCIS page. AND THATS IT! Please save your $$$$thousands, its not that hard....just follow all the instructions and everythings going to be okay. 👍

Congrats on the EAD!! That should surely help with the financials!!

We also did it without a lawyer, and couldn't have done it without this community. The immigration officer complimented me on assembling all the paperwork myself, and my husband's green card was mailed yesterday. 🙌

Me and my husband had our interview today, Boston office. This is our experience:

    1. Everybody was super helpful and nice while we waited to be called. Do not arrive more than 30 mins before your assigned time, you can only check in 30 mins prior.

    2. They had the office at 80 degrees!!! I don’t know why the hell they do this but we were melting there (30 degrees outside)

    3. We got called separately, I was expecting this because we are an interracial couple and observing the other couples, everybody seemed to be from the same country. I have also travel A LOT! Lived in London and Dubai at some point of my life, I always get double questions for it.

    4. My husband (the petitioner) got picked first in a very intimidating way. That’s when I felt like it was 100 degrees inside 😂😂😂.

    5. I got called second. First comment: “YOU TRAVEL A LOT” hahha. Then proceed to ask me about first date, personal details, husband’s parents names... when did we get married... if my husband dances... random stuff. Then summarised all the Yes No questions.

    6. The interview finished with him joking about how his coworker goes to the place we went to on our first date. Then asked for the financial info.  He APPROVED our case there.

    7. My husband jumped of happiness and gave me a kiss in front of him😂😂😂😂.

Overall it was fine, I actually got a bit emotional remembering when we first met cause we haven’t separated since then.

no lawyers, no interpreters (I understand not everybody can do this) but for a process we worked ourself I’m quite pleased.

5 months later and I can finally plan our honeymoon!!!!!❤️

So happy for you and your husband! I'm glad us August filers are starting to get interviews. Where are you thinking to go on your honeymoon? :)

We also had our interview today, but it was a lot different from yours.

It didn't seem like the IO really even looked at our file before calling us in, it was as if it was her first time seeing it once we were already in the room. She barely looked at our bona fide marriage evidence, including the pictures.

We also were not separated, we were in the room together. She mostly just confirmed what was in our petition, with minimal questions about our marriage.

Then we got on the topic of knowing one anothers' language, she wanted me (USC) to say something to my husband in Korean, I guess to prove that I know how to speak it?

And that was pretty much it.

Anyway, I don't know the backend of how USCIS operates, but she ended up handing us a piece of paper that said they have all of our documentation but have yet to make a final decision... She did say that the case "looks approvable", though. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what that means -- was she not the final authority on if it gets approved? I can only consider two possibilities - she did not really look through our file prior to interviewing us and wanted to review the paperwork further, or she had to get approval from another IO due to some "yes" answers to the inadmissibility questions. Korean men all have to serve in the military so he had to answer "yes" to the weapons training and foreign military questions.

To top it off, the USCIS website has been down all day so I can't obsessively check our case status LOL

Oh ok. I just saw many people here scheduled for interviews already so just curious about it. Why they turn very fast because of local office work fast or because of Aos from K1. But wish you have a good news soon. Good luck

I think it has more to do with local office maybe? We just got scheduled today, waiting for the interview date in the mail. In our case it's an adjustment from F-1. I know this thread is in the K-1 section, but the "Adjusting from Other Visas" section doesn't have an August 2019 thread, so that's why I'm on this one.

Then again I really have no idea why it's moving so fast since Charlotte's average is about 6-7 months from NOA1 to interview.

  10. Just a warning: be careful about shipping your docs via USPS 🙄 We paid for Express 2 Day shipping with tracking for our RFIE response, which was sent out last Wednesday. Supposed to arrive by Friday. Well, it's Tuesday now and apparently USPS lost it, and refuse to refund us until they "investigate". They said they'd call us back with an update in two hours (this was yesterday) and never called us.

So we're shipping another copy via private courier today.

  11. Got RFIE letter today. Thankfully it isn't too hard of a fix - Despite how meticulously I gathered my docs, I made a small boo boo and forgot to include joint sponsor's TAX RETURN documentation - I only showed W-2s. D'oh. Totally my fault.

We got the Tax Return Transcript printed out from the IRS' website and are gonna overnight ship out the response tomorrow, so USCIS should have it on Thursday.

Does anyone know if we might get another RFE at this point, considering this was an RFIE? Or since this was the only doc they found to be missing, we may be good to go?
