    Hi everyone,

I made it! Got approved for citizenship today.

When I went in, the officer told me to stay standing and raise my hand to swear that I would tell the truth.

Afterwards, I presented my green cards and passports.

Then we started off with the tests.

    English test:

    Reading - Read from tablet

Writing - Wrote down what the officer said on the tablet.

    Civics test:

    1. Who vetos Bills?

    2. If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes the president?

    3. How many U.S Senators are there?

    4. Who is the Chief Justice of United States now?

    5. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.

    6. Name two national U.S holidays

    Interview regarding my N-400:

    1. Confirmed my address and phone number

    2. Confirm my husband lives with me - Officer saw my husband at the waiting room

    3. Asked briefly about my overseas trips

    4. Asked what I did for work

    5. Asked about my speeding ticket

    6. Standard "Yes" or "No" questions

After I passed, the officer asked if I had any trips coming up. And schedule my Oath Ceremony on Sept 26 :) (Couldn't update the form for some reason). I was out of there under 20 minutes - it took a while longer since the officer's printer didn't work.

Good luck to everyone, and I want to thank you all for the help and support through this process!

Congratulations LizzieY!!! So happy for you! I will edit your info in the tracker:-D

hi @Vikingoutwest, I also filed my N400 in Portland, but in May instead of April, did not find a thread for the May filers, so posting here. Out of curiosity, have you heard anything about your N4OO application status? my wait time is 15 days as of today.

    Best,

    Eli

Hi Eli! Good to see a fellow Portland filer on here - not that many of us are posting in the forums:-) There is a May filer's thread and also a Portland one that I will link to you down below. I have not heard anything yet...my status is still "we reviewed your biometrics" as of May 15. My "estimated completion time" says "October (1 month) and my "estimated wait time" countdown ended on 8/30 and has said "we are taking longer than expected to process your case" ever since - no change at all. I am crossing everything I can cross that I will hear something soon. I will do the same for you:-) Here's the May thread https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/706514-n-400-may-2019/

and here's the tiny Portland one  https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/696465-citizenship-interview-waiting-times-portland-or/

    Best of luck!

I had my interview today. It was very quick. I had I751 waiver after divorced and I had interview with same person for n400. He didn’t ask me anything about I751 and asked me civic questions which I got it right first six questions. Then English test was very quick. The he confirmed information from N400. He printed out all the paperwork. Including my ceremony date which is going to be Oct 11.

I submitted my application in June 26 and I had finger printing appointment on July 15 and after one month my interview scheduled on Sep 10. I submitted my application by mail and I received an online code so I setup my online account and I have been receiving all letter online as well. My field office is Reno Nevada.

During this process estimated date change only once after my interview it was Jan 2020 and after fingerprint it remain same Dec 2020.

Good luck to everyone. VJ is a big support.

wow Nevada16 that was fast! If you haven't already, you should share this post in the June filers' thread! Big congratulations to you on a fast and smooth journey!

So I messed up and it was today :bonk:

Everything went well, it was a lot more informal than I thought (at a window, not in a room) and the interviewer fist bumped me at the end and said I was approved!

He asked me to wait and already gave me my N-445!

Congratulations!!! Glad you still made it to the appointment and everything went well:-D

edit: I changed the date of your interview to today in the tracker:-)

So, I had the interview today. The experience was very good. I was applying under the 3-year rule and my wife and 10 month old son accompanied me to the interview. The interview took total of 15 minutes or so. The officer asked for my passport, green card and DL to verify identity. Then he started with the civics questions which I knew all of them and he only asked six.

Then he moved on to the Yes and No questions from the application and asked me if I needed to change any of the info which I had to add to my travel history. After that, he approved the application on the spot and my status online changed to in line to be scheduled for Oath Ceremony.

It is interesting that I had a lot of documentation with me regarding my marriage but he did not look at any of them. I specifically asked if he wanted to see them, but he said he had already approved the application under the assumption that I am living with my US citizen spouse and whatever happens after the Oath Ceremony is not his concern. I imagine it was because my wife and son were accompanying me in the waiting area.

All in all, a very good experience and I will keep you posted about the oath ceremony date.

Congratulations! And thank you for sharing your experience with us:-)

    Hi everybody !!!

Today was my big day. The interview went really well. I wasn’t expecting to be so fast.

I went to the check in area and they gave me a ticket. I was called almost immediately to review my application and check my information. After that I was called for the civic test and the reading and writing part.

I only remember 5 of the six questions

1.- What are two rights in the Declaration of Independence ?

2.- How many US senators are there?

3.- What is the highest court in the United States ?

4.- What ocean is on the east coast of the United States?

5.- What ocean is on the west coast of the United States?

Then I waited almost for an hour to be call to the interview. After all, it went really well. I was recommended for approval and after a few minutes waiting they gave me my ceremony day.

My oath will be on September 19th.

Thank you very much everyone of you for the help, the advices and to share your experience.

BIG CONGRATS! Thank you for letting us all know how it went and please come back and let us know how the ceremony was:-D You will be a citizen in two weeks, wow! Congrats again!

His oath ceremony was at the same location as his interview, our local USCIS office, they have a ceremony room. There were 22 total that were becoming citizens, from 15 different countries. We weren't expecting it, but it was pretty emotional! So glad we've made it through this journey. Thanks to the Visa Journey community for getting us through this entire process!!!

CONGRATS Jcspeed!!! So happy for you! What an awesome day 😄

Hey everyone! My husband passed his interview today!!!

Started with reading a question...What does a U.S. senator represent?

Then had to write the response...All the people of the state.

He answered 6 questions correctly, so he didn't have to do anymore.

He was super nervous and when he's nervous it's hard for him to understand English especially when someone has a different accent lol

But  he just remembers she asked:
    What is the Emancipation Proclamation?

Who is the Father of our country?

How many U.S. senators are there?

What are the requirements to vote in a federal election?

She asked a lot of other questions like current address, addresses of his past jobs, where I worked, if I was ever divorced/married (my son is from a previous relationship), if he was ever divorced/married. She also asked questions based off of the actual application, like race/ethnicity, and she was questioning if he was the one that filled out the application.

His oath ceremony was scheduled for later on this afternoon so I will update you all after that as well.

I hope this helps and good luck to everyone else!!

HURRAY! Congratulations!!! How awesome 😄 Thank you for sharing the experience with us!!

Thank you very much everybody ... I’m extremely nervous! I need Thursday to be done

I totally understand! It is nerve wracking - do yourself a favor and read through some of our other member's stories from their interviews. They are all very positive and follow the same pattern. You will be alright! Bring your evidences and make sure you know the questions/answers for the test, that is all you can/have to do:-) You can do hard things - you already have since you came this far:-) Best of luck and good vibes!
