Thanks! It is kinda slow, I wish I could get my passport this year as I have a trip planned early in January...

Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.

Thank you! Hopefully you can get an expedited passport for your trip! I am so nervous...I am organizing documents now and printing any extra stuff - double and triple checking haha. I will let you all know how it went:-)

    Ceremony complete!!

What a interesting experience! Lot's of waiting however. The ceremony didn't start until nearly two hours after the time on the notice. I overheard them talk about how backed up they were getting everyone in. Over 700 people!

Feels very strange to be done with all of this... all I need to do now is update my social and get my passport sorted.

Thanks everyone for the support and good luck with your journeys!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

My Interview was yesterday, passed the exam without problems.

Then I got a printed notice that I passed the exam but that "A decision cannot yet be made about your application".

I just feel cold dead. At least I don't have to study anymore......

Congratulations on finishing your interview and passing the exam!! That is a big accomplishment! I am sorry you didn't get immediate approval, and I understand how awful it must feel. I have read many accounts of that happening though, and most often it is just because the interviewing officer is new and their work has to be checked by a senior officer before approval can be given. I hope you hear back from them soon! You made it past another step in the journey 😄

    Hi guys

Anyone has any experience to share!

I flilled my N400 on June 1st and done my bio on 24th of june but since then I have no updates and my actual date is expired but the case completion month is December??

Hi! I think we are all waiting for our interviews right now. I personally filed in April, bio in May, had an estimated date that expired 8/30, completion time was October. October 17 is when I got my interview scheduled and I will be going to that on 11/25. If your case follows the latest trend you will be scheduled sometime next month and probably interview in January, but it is always hard to predict anything:-) Best of luck!

    1 parent was approved.

The other parent was told they passed everything it looked fine but was deferred as they where interviewed by a person being trained so has a 2-3 month wait for it to be checked by a qualified officer.

Will post a full report on the interviews later.

Congrats Song41 - it sounds like very good news! I bet it will not take that long to be checked, I'm pretty sure they just say 2-3 months to give themselves extra time and to let you know not to worry if something didn't happen right away. Thank you for continuing to share your journey with us:-D

I read that the oath ceremony might be the same day as the interview. Has this actually happened to anyone? I would love to bring some friends to the ceremony if/when I'm approved, just curious if they should be "ready" just in case on the interview date, which is next Thursday!! :)

Hi and welcome to the group! I have heard some places will do same-day Oaths but it is pretty rare, generally. My office (Portland, OR) does do them, but in almost all instances people who got a same-day oath had an interview time before 11 am. Mine is going to be at 12.40pm so I don't think I will be one of the lucky ones. Unfortunately, I don't have an easy answer for you, because this is going to be different at all local offices:-/ Congratulations on getting your date and best of luck next Thursday!

My wife became a US citizen on Friday along with about 100 others at Indianapolis. The journey that began almost 7 years ago has finally come to an end! So grateful to everyone on this forum who helped with advice over the years! She was able to apply for her US passport and register to vote....and I even got a nice photo of her together with the judge who presided over the swearing in!

    Eternally Grateful!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It's official, my husband is now a US Citizen! It's been quite a journey, and I'm so thankful that we're all done with this chapter in our lives! I'm so grateful for Visajourney.com it's helped us through every stage of the process from filing the i-130 to n-400. Thank you all for sharing your experience but also helping others navigate theirs. I hope everyone in our group will soon complete the process as well! Thanks again!

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I brought everything I thought would be useful (tax returns, bank statements from early on, previous passports, visas, university transcripts, etc.). Two thick stacks of papers. Officer ended up looking only at my green card. I submitted the proof of selective service registration with the application, so I did not even need to show that.

The interview was on November 4th around 1 pm. I would believe the rumors you heard!

Thank you for replying! I will bring all I can just to be safe hehe:-) Yeah, it seems like there is a strong likelihood of a same-day ceremony if your interview is before noon. We shall see what happens:-D (mine will be 12.40pm) I hope you get your oath date soon!

I attended my interview. My application is approved and now I am waiting for the oath date. The USCIC officer was really nice, welcoming and polite. The interview was conducted in presence of another officer who was apparently watching the process for quality control. The interview took about 15 minutes.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Awesome to hear that the interviewing officer was nice and the interview itself was short:-D

    2 questions:

What documents did you bring to the interview?

    and out of pure curiosity:

what time of day did you have your interview? I heard rumors that there is sometimes same-day oath ceremonies, and I was wondering if there is any indicator (like time of day) that might tell a person if they are likely to get same-day oath. Thank you for sharing your experience!!

I’ve got my final update: my US Passport just came in the mail today (!!!). I was given a 6-8 week estimate but I guess they say that just to be safe, because usually it takes much less time than that! I applied the day of my oath (10/10) so it’s only been two weeks 😄 Again, thanks all for all the support throughout the months and I wouldn’t have done this so effortlessly (as possible lol) if it weren’t for y’all 😄

Thank you Blossom!!! And HUGE congrats to you on your new status as a passport-wielding U.S.Citizen 😄 Amazing turn-around time for the passport 0.0 thank you for sharing your journey with us all and for being an awesomely supportive person 😄

Finally, the journey that started since January 2012, came to an end today. I give credit to the Creator of the universe. The One who sees and knows all things. Thanks to my family and friends. How can I forget to thank this group for the joint support thru this N400 process. You are all wonderful people. You all helped and encouraged me during my difficult times. Good luck to all still waiting and with God above; it shall be well with thee.

Now I can go to bed stress- free without worrying of being deported. The rest is now history. WHAT a journey to remember!!!

God is good all the times and all of the times God is great!!! To HIM alone I give praise.

    Hello everyone,

My interview is finally scheduled. It is in November. I was reading they will ask questions from my application i filled out. Are they marriage related questions, i amittle confused. And do i have to know all the US Representatives of my state. There are 8 of them, i am not really good at remembering names.

For what they might ask at the interview, look up N400 sample interviews on youtube, there are many videos that explain the process pretty well.

As far as I know, you don't have to know all the representatives of your state, just the specific representative for the district you live in. Here is a resource to find out who your representative is: https://www.house.gov/representatives

Are you an April Filer? If you are then please add your information to our tracker: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19px0T7I0L1r79JhIJJriP1EXI1sO3u1ImNhcP38FETQ/edit#gid=0

In any case, congrats on getting your interview scheduled:-)

Drove to Memphis for our interview.  Pretty straightforward.  Focused on what your application says, so know how to explain any inconsistencies.  The interviewer bounced around between application and the Yes/No questions that they must ask and confirm.  My wife felt like they were looking for how confident you explained things and your command of english.  Took about 25 minutes.  She passed on the spot and received notification of a pending date for the Oath.

Five years of paying taxes and being a good citizen.  Thousands of dollars in fees.  Hundreds of hours collecting documents, filling out forms and preparing.  Many late nights studying language and preparing.  Days and months waiting.  Something everyone in this VJ community knows well.

As an USC I have gained a real appreciation for the immigrants who follow the rule of law and do it correctly.  US Citizenship is a valuable thing and should not be handed out to people who break the law.  It is an injustice and a slap in the face to those who earned it the hard way.  As such I urge all new members to the US family to exercise their right to vote their conscience and bear in mind to support those in office who represent what they worked so hard to get.

    Kyle... out

    Congratulations on a successful interview!
