hahah dying...thanks for the good laugh @Vikingoutwest

I would be more worried about the passport pic than anything else rofl

Lol yesh, you better believe I'm gonna take passport pictures galore until I get a decent one...and then my naturalization certificate will go into hiding all "witness protection style". It will cut all ties, change it's name, move to an undisclosed location, and never be heard from again...unless it has to come to my rescue, then it shall resurface for the teensiest of moments 😛 Have a great day all!

Thank you! Your comment gave me peace of mind. You’re right they would have told me if my eyes were looking up.

I glanced at it and I guess it looked ok but I didn’t pay attention to details.

    I’m probably overthinking.

April filer here butting in to bring even more peace of mind haha:

The reason your biometric prints were 4 fingers is that you most likely had a code 5 biometric letter (tells you in the upper right corner of letter I think). Code 5 is 4 prints on one hand. Your previous biometrics were probably a code 3, which is all 10 fingers. Mine was code 3 for my i485, but code 5 for N400.

Regarding your picture, I am sure you have nothing to worry about. Wanna know how I know? My picture came out looking like some sort of frowning Ursula (little mermaid villain). I had to take my glasses off and couldn't see where the camera was plus the lady kept saying "chin down" so yeeeahhh that was great:-) If they kept THAT horror show of a picture...then yours is fine - guaranteed! Have a great day 🙂

All right! My interview was over about an hour ago. All in all it was quick, easy and not stressful at all! 😀

It was scheduled for 8:55 am at Portland OR filed office. I came by 8:35, registered at the front desk where they asked for my appointment confirmation letter and my green card. They took a picture of me and checked my fingerprints.

After that, at about 8:45, I went to the waiting room at the second floor. There you wait for them to call your name. Mine was called at about 9:00.

An officer met me there, and we went to his office. He was really nice, asked me about my trip from Eugene to Portland, and we discussed that while we were walking to the office. Once we were in his office, he asked me to provide my green card and passport. It seemed that he did not care much about my DL, he wanted the passport to see where and when I travelled. He made a couple of comments on the numerous stamps in my passport, and I told him that I had never left US since I came here. Then he asked me to promise that I will only tell truth. He asked me to check my full legal name, date of birth, address, etc. Right after that we did all the tests: he read out the questions, and I answered 6 of them:

    what is an amendment?

    the question about Eisenhower.

what is one responsibility that is only for U.S. citizens?

what is the name of the Vice President?

in what month do we vote for President?

We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years?

(I think I remember them all correctly)

After that he asked me to read a sentence from the screen: Where is the White House? And write a sentence on the same screen: the White House is in Washington D.C.

Then he went through my application and asked me the same questions that are in the application. Pretty standard questions, nothing outstanding really. And then all the ‘have you ever’ questions.

Then he asked me check my info and sign a couple of documents on the screen, and that was it! It was all approved, and they invited me for an oath ceremony today at 1:30.

The interview took about 20 minutes (including all the walking to and from his office), so 15 minutes really. Again, the officer was really friendly, and said that my application was really nice and clear, and made his work easy.

Not sure if this is too much detail, but if anyone has questions, do ask. I’m just kind of excited and might have missed something that might be of importance.

Good luck to all of you! 😎

Congratulations!!!! YAAAY how awesome that you got both approved and set up with oath ceremony for today!!!! Excellent:-) Thank you so much for your detailed description! I hope I get the same nice officer that you had hehe. I am still waiting for interview to be scheduled so we'll see:-) Thanks again, and CONGRATS on becoming a citizen today!

Meet your newest US Citizen :)

So this is a TL of events that took place today, I like details so I am going to try and be as detailed as possible..

    - my interview was supposed to be at 8:10am

    - got there at 7:55am had to wait 5mins for them to open the doors

    - 8:40 am my interviewer called my name

    • I swore in, she asked for my green card
    • she took my fingerprints (left and right index finger)
    • then she made me answer questions from application (full name, DOB, spouse full name, spouse DOB, address, date of marriage, when did you become a permanent resident, places you’ve traveled outside the US ((this made me super nervous because I did not remember the exact dates)), where do you work, places you’ve lived and so on..
    • then she moved on to the yes or no questions from my application (have you ever committed a crime? been a habitual drunkard...)

    - Then she started with the test, no warning what so ever, my questions were:

    • what does the president cabinet do
    • who is in charge of the executive branch
    • what is the name of the vice president
    • what is the economic system of the United States
    • who is the commander and chief of the military
    • what did the declaration of independence do?

    - read: who was George Washington

    - write: Washington was the first president

    - then I had to sign the tablet twice saying that everything is true & check that all my information was correct

    - she gave me a sheet saying she was recommending me for approval (YAY)

    - she then asked if I wanted to be scheduled for the oath ceremony in August or September or I could do it today, I opted to do it today of course!! so she asked me to have a seat in the waiting room by that time it was 8:57am.

9:05 am - while waiting my status changed online to "case was submitted for quality review based on an approval recommendation"

9:20am - I was called to the counter, she took my green card and asked questions about "since your interview have you committed any crimes, got divorced, traveled outside the country and so on..."  the officer was like you haven't done any of these things in the last ten minutes? we both laughed

    •  I completed my oath ceremony, was given my certificate, a mini flag and a package :)  before I got to my car my status changed online to "certificate of naturalization was issued"

All in all I am so happy to be done with this process. Good luck to everyone. If anyone has any questions let me know.

    Hello Groupmates,

So my n400 is pending (applied in april 2019), local uscis office is in NOLA. Currently we are relocating to MD jn couple weeks. I am changing my address online, is it enough? Or should i fill out AR-11 too?

    Thank you!

If you change address online with uscis website you don't have to file AR11, but remember to change address with both uscis and the post office. Here's the link for the rules: https://www.uscis.gov/addresschange

Well, my interview was at 10am and the officer is really professional and friendly. He started with put me under oath and then explained the process. We started with civic test, which I completed 6 questions in 5 mins . Then, he gave me a sentence to read and write down the answer that he read (this part was perform on ipad). We end up with he went through my files and add informations that I have changed since I applied such as phone number  and yes no questions on files, ect.  From start to finish, It took me 15-20 mins max. 🤓

Thank you for sharing:-) I'm glad to hear it was an easy/short interview experience. Congratulations again 🙂

I am in San Diego and it supposed to be one of the fastest office for N400, but still have not received any news after my BioMetric Appointment in May.

I had a very important business trip to be out of town Mid-August.. this even made me so nervous and hope they would schedule me something before it so I can fly out without being stress about the waiting.

😕 yeah, hopefully they will schedule it before your trip - they could still do that! Don't stress yourself out about it. There is no way of knowing when they will schedule you until they do it...and it is silly to let the waiting wreck your experiences in life. I do understand how hard it is - some days the waiting drives me nuts also, but then I remind myself of this old flow chart I saw:

do you have a problem flow chart.jpg

Hello! I'm new to this thread and I tried to add my details on the document. I checked my online status today and it said interview scheduled. Is there any pattern to how they schedule interviews? 4 Weeks out? 6 Weeks out? Or is it all random?

    Here's the updated sheet:

Welcome to the group! Thank you for putting your info on the google sheet too - it really helps everyone to get a better idea of what is happening in this crazy process 🙂 Congrats on interview scheduled woohoo. You should see your date within a few days on the uscis account - so you will know soon. Then you should also receive a letter within 5-7 days from your text/email notification. Let us know when you know! Good luck.

    Hi Guys,

I know you guys are waiting to hear my story. First of all I passed my test, so that's a  big relief. Since my I751 is pending the officer said he can't update my profile to "approved", but he was a super nice person, he said one of his colleague have to go through it and approve, the second he approve my I751 he said he'll approve my N400. But he printed the results for me and said he'll probably schedule my oath for August 23.

First he asked me to read " who can vote?"

Then asked me to write "citizens can vote"

Ask six questions, I can't remember the order, but he asked the following questions,

    1) What is one promise you make when you become a US citizen?

    2) How many senators there?

    3) What is the "rule of the law"

    4) What's the war between North and South?

    5) Who vetoes the bills?

    6) What happened in the constitution convention center?

Then he went through some general "yes" and "no" questions and ask where i work. I said I worked as an Assistant Professor in University where my field office is, then he said he's an alumnus there couple of years ago. Then he changed my name legally and said I have to do it in court, not sure how that going to happen since he didn't tell anything after that? Anyone have any idea?

We chit chat a bit and said my I751 will approve soon since we have a kid and that's one of biggest bona fide evidence. We checked in around 1:25 and interview scheduled for 1:45, we were out by 2:15. It was pretty quick and easy. Officer said I'll get a mail with approval.

I was married for 3 years and when I file I751 last year March and until this year April nothing happened, (not even my fingerprints were updated) i went ahead and applied N400, it went pretty fast since i applied in April and I am thankful that i decided to take the chance.

Good luck for everyone waiting for their turn and i'm sure everyone will have a happy ending.

PS: My folder with all the material i sent over 4 years were there with this office. I even saw my mail envelop that i send last year, everything was neatly clipped and organized.

Congratulations RC and thank you so much for sharing your experience! Hopefully you will receive your oath date very soon 🙂

First thing first, I passed the interview yesterday. The officer was really nice. Once we got to her office, she asked for my green card and then she took my photo and fingerprints. We had to do it twice because the first one it didn't go through or something. Then she asked me to stand to swear to tell the truth.

Then we moved on to the speaking/writing test and the civics test.

What is the supreme law of the land? The constitution

Who signs bills to become laws? The president.

When was the Constitution written? 1787

Who is the Father of Our Country? George Washington

Name the war between the North and South? Civil War

The House of Representatives has how many voting members? 435

Next we went through the form and the yes/no questions. Then said you should expect the letter about the oath ceremony soon. Yayyy!!

We chatted a little bit about the Oath Ceremony - I asked her how long it is because I heard it's long.  She said it's about 3 hours, so I said then it might not be a good idea for my husband to bring the kids (7yo and 2yo).

And that's it. I'm so relieved that it's all done. And that I even made it to the interview itself... because I was late. The interview was at 2PM and I checked in at 2:06PM. The lady in the checked in desk said, "oooh you've just made it".

@Heley made the right decision to leave early to her interview. Yesterday morning work was a little crazy so I was remotely working from home until around 12:45PM.  Then I got ready and left the house at 1PM - the office is around 25m from my house - I thought I have a lot of time. But traffic was horrendous. I was trying to avoid the massive construction on the highway and took a back road and that was a big mistake. And it also took awhile to find a parking lot. So yeah, I had to run to the building to make it to the interview.

Congratulations!!! Wow, what an experience you had - how stressful to be in such a hurry as you are coming in - yikes. So glad to hear everything went well, and that your IO was nice :) Thank you very much for sharing! You and @Heley both described your interviews so well it makes me less nervous for when I eventually have to go :)

Lets do it. I keep checking April fillers and it doesnt seem they have the dates for interview or maybe they forget to update timelines. Do anybody know how long estimately wait the status change to interview scheduled? What order uscis you think schedule the dates?

Hi! April filer here. We only have 7 people in our group with confirmed interview dates as of yet (in the google sheet). I am hoping more people have one, but just hasn't updated yet, although I think most people in the group check/update the sheet whenever they can. The sheet is very handy - I would recommend it for you guys! Good luck all, and I wish you speedy interview notifications:-)
