    Finally a citizen!!!

But, why do I feel sad knowing that I’m not a citizen of the country I was born in and grew up at? I know eventually I can apply for dual citizenship, but now, it’s like partly sad feelings.

    😭😭😭

Congratulations on becoming a citizen!!! Why aren't you a citizen of your home country anymore? Does your country not allow it, because many countries don't take away your citizenship just because you became an American citizen? Anyway, I can understand your sadness if you really lost citizenship of your original country. I hope that is not the case. Big Congrats on becoming part of a new country though:-D

I am starting to file n400 online now. I have been lawful permanent resident since Feb 2014 (5+ years), married to a U.S. citizen spouse since 2012.

    Came across this question..

What is your basis for eligibility?

I am at least 18 years of age and have been a lawful permanent resident of the United States for at least 5 years.

I am at least 18 years of age and have been a lawful permanent resident of the United States for at least 3 years. In addition, I have been married to and living with a U.S. citizen spouse for the last 3 years, and my spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last 3 years at the time I filed my Form N-400.

Which option should I select? Seems like both options hold true in my scenario.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Numii,

I had the same thing (was eligible for either option). I went with 5 years, because people told me I wouldn't need to submit as much evidence then, and my spouse wouldn't necessarily have to come with me for the interview. I am not sure if that is really true though - I have yet to find out. I guess I will see once I get an interview. You are definitely eligible for both and could choose either one. You can check if this subject has been discussed in the general discussion forum too. Good luck!

Congratulations! I’m happy to hear that you finally have a date interview. I’m still waiting for my interview schedule too. I did inquire in the link about taking time as I expected and responded that I’m still on the track, something like that. Before it’ll pop out waiting time “September 2019” but now “ nothing”. Oh well I’m still glad that to hear from this group.

    Filed last      2/19/19

    Biometrics    3/4/19

Aw man - you should definitely have been done by now in my opinion:-( Sorry it is taking so long!Thank you for posting here and please let us know when you get any update! This process makes little sense...

    Hello,

It is my great pleasure to announce I have become a citizen of the United States of America. The ceremony was awesome. There were 175 new citizens from 55 different countries. There was the Oath of Allegiance and a short video clip from Donald Trump, welcoming the new citizens. After the ceremony, we were handed over our certificates. We were supposed to check them to make sure the info was correct and then sign them. At the end, I registered to vote as well. All in all, it felt surreal.

    Wish you all the best

God bless you, God bless America.

So great to hear!! Congratulations on your citizenship! And thank you for sharing your experience with us:-D

    Thank you!

I have to say it was kind of... boring. A lot of paperwork processing and waiting, some speeches were good, some not so much. The oath itself, anthem, and pledge of allegiance were the highlights for me.

Oh, and I registered to vote on my way out because it was National Voter Registration Day!

*updated your info on tracker:-) Haha I wondered if Oath Ceremonies could feel a bit long at times (kinda like graduation ceremonies). How awesome it must be to be done though:-D And how surreal and cool to now be registered to vote! Congratulations again, and thank you for sharing your experience with us 🙂

Hi all, I am in the same "taking longer" category. Submitted at the end of March 2019, biometrics were reviewed in April. Estimated month of completion is October 2019. I am going to be monitoring this thread. I will post updates if I have any. May as well die while waiting.

Oh no! I would've hoped a march applicant would have been done by now:-( Sorry to hear this! Thank you for posting here though so we know, and thank you for posting future updates - I will do the same. Good luck!

Also, my account now shows "We are taking longer than expected to process your case. You do not need to do anything at this time"

Completion time has not changed. Still shows November 2019.

Sorry Mixxin - now we are all in the "taking longer" category:-/ Yeah the Seattle case transfers definitely affected the processing time...which is not surprising I guess, but I had hoped it would not be the case haha. I have been going back and forth between getting scared about things taking longer (because maybe something went wrong in my case?) to relaxing more (because it is just probably taking longer because of all the extra cases). This process is an emotional roller coaster! My case still says "estimated completion October 2019 (1 month), and then the "taking longer" for estimated wait time. No change.  It doesn't help a person's state of mind either to see others get approved who applied after you...the process makes very little sense. I am very happy for all approved, just can't figure out any pattern at all.

Guys after my n400 interview . The slip I was handed says I passed my test but a decision cannot yet be made about my application. What does that mean ? I thought they give approvals after interviews .

From what I have read this is very common. If you had a new/junior officer, they cannot approve you on their own, they have to have a supervisor/senior officer look it over also, before approval is issued. It will be fine 🙂

    Hello Guys,

I've done the citizen interview yesterday, and I pass the interview as well, so  I wanna share my experience to everyone as well.

My interview supposes to be at 8.15am, but the IO called me 10 minutes earlier, and first of all, you have to promise you to tell the truth. Then he goes over every question form the application form I've filled, so it is very important that you know all the answer you put in, then he starts the question. I'll write it below.

    1.  How many senators we have

    2. Wh is the vice president

    3. state right

I can't remember the 4-6 question. and the reading was: Which state has most people? Writing: California has most people.

After that, he starts the yes and no questions and asking me about the military training and selective military question. Also I've never interview inside the United state, so He took more time to know our history and ask for the proof of our mortgage, and future, I will say prepare all the document you can, it always better than sorry, and We've chatted a little bit as well,  I was nervous by the time , and I think it's important that your spouse comes with you, because when he asks me how I got there and he hears the answer then he was happy for that,  just be prepared and confident, and I got the recommend on the site, the website change the status as soon as we walk out the building,  but still waiting for the letter.

Glad I found this thread when I prepare the materials and interview,  hope my experience can help people from this group as well, I'll update the ceremony date after I get the letter, thanks.

By the way, my interview time was very long, it took me 45 minutes for the interview.

Congratulations Aaron001!!! You are one BIG step closer to being done, Hurray!! Thank you for sharing your experience with us:-D

    What are your thoughts?

    Hi GT&RAC!

Congratulations on your approval!!! I also want to say thank you for sharing that information with us all. I have no input about the status of your child - I had heard about the policy change but had not paid much attention since I don't have kids. I hope someone else on here will have an answer for you. Sidenote: Stuttgart is a great place for a post-oath celebration! 😄

My wife went to her interview this morning. It went okay, however the IO's native language was not English and my wife had a terrible time understanding anything the officer was saying to her, and at one point even threatened to stop the interview and reschedule with a different IO. Somehow she got through it and was given a piece of paper that had "recommended for approval"box checked, so I'm assuming we're waiting for the oath ceremony date (IO wasn't very clear about that either)!

Thank God we're almost done with USCIS!!!

Congratulations!!! Sorry it was a difficult time - but she got through it! Hopefully you will get the oath date soon 😄
