mogiftney got a reaction from 2022 in Oh boy. Social media questions.
Really? Us being apart for years upon years so that she can meet the income requirement in her home country so that I can marry her there, go through that long visa process, and then go through the double long spousal visa process here is worse than me putting my foot down on an important matter in our relationship over social media when we’re already halfway through this process and paid money towards this process? Whatever you say, relationship guru!

    Hello. I am stressed.

I completely forgot about this, and I don’t know exactly how deeply they search social media stuff or when they do it. But. Our case is moving on to the NVC stage now. I just realized that my fiancée’s reddit username and her username on a website in which she sells merchandise that features her original artwork is (her first name) (my last name). These things were created a while ago, when we first started dating, and it was her way of her showing affection towards me long before we ever thought we’d be going through this process, much less what it entails.

I have been searching endlessly about how she can change her username on these websites. I can’t find a way. These websites don’t allow her to change her username. We are NOT married. But I’m terrified that they may perceive us as married if they see that. I’ve heard horror stories of them denying people because they referenced each other as “hubby” or “wifey” in chat logs. I feel like this is much worse. Should I strongly encourage her to delete these accounts? One of them is a source of income for her. The other is her personal reddit account that she has had for years on which she publishes her artwork. Dear god, I do not want to push her to delete those things, they are her pride and joy, I could only imagine if I had to, but if you guys say she should, I am gonna have to put my foot down and strongly suggest she does so. I’m very nervous about this.

To those who were concerned in this thread and asked that I update them, my fiancée was approved yesterday and they didn’t even ask about it! We did end up listing this on the DS-160. Honesty is the best policy. Thanks for the help!

i can certainly empathize with you there. it really is ridiculous. especially because my wife’s grandma is deteriorating with dementia and this is a very important vacation for her. she even told them that over the phone and they said if she doesn’t have medical documentation to prove it then it doesn’t get an expedite. there’s no medical documents, she’s forgetting things, it’s not like she’s in the hospital right now but she might not remember things really soon.

This is outrageous!  We paid for service from USCIS!!!!  We are following the rules, yet we have to wait, and wait, and wait!  This a violation of our civil rights....It really (censored) me off!!!!!!

thank you! we’re going to try to get the boarding foil at the London embassy when we get there. they won’t give us an emergency appointment for the adit stamp. we still haven’t tried a walk in which we will probably still attempt before leaving

Usually they take about a week end to end.

Too bad you canceled your flights. That cost you leverage  for option 1.

    Options:

    1. I-551 stamp. These days this is unlikely as USCIS offices moan that they are too busy to take appointments.  You live next door to one. Try a walk-in.

    2. reroute return through Canada / Mexico

    3. File I-131a  the moment  you arrive at your  holiday destination

    4. Sometimes renewals are lightning fast. Make sure someone has access to your mail box and can cope with sending it to you via FedEx or DHL.

To my knowledge yes, but usually when a GC is lost or stolen abroad, so not really sure in your case.  It does say you need to bring a copy of a police report to show the GC was stolen.  I am not sure how convenient it is for you, but if the USCIS office is not too far away, I would try pleading for an ADIT stamp, if that doesn’t work, then I would probably try the boarding foil route.  Of course that depends on what your travel plans are.

    Good Luck!

    Sorry about that situation!
Did you obtain a police report?

ADIT (I-551) is the only good option.
Another one is to get I-131A once in the UK from US embassy, but that's risky, slow and costs $$$.

What about going back and then applying for a boarding foil at the US Consulate in England?  You don’t need a GC to exit the US to my knowledge.
Lost GC with immediate international travel plans.  Maybe try going down to the USCIS office to plead your case.

Thanks so much. I was really confused about this as the K1 visa and I-94 both expired so when I read about it online it says that the status would be considered "undocumented" but she came here legally through an airport and can still legally adjust from the K1, so is she undocumented? This is too stressful!

I really don't see what difference waiting a day or 2 later makes. Just file a few days after the 90 days just to be sure.
    This is not a race.
    Haste makes waste.

Ive never understood why people won’t allow a day or few hours of eligibility to pass before filing. Whatever it is whether he wins an appeal or not, he/she is going to become a citizen later than anticipated because of this desire to send in your application right on the dot.

In my case I waited a comfortable three days beyond my earliest eligibility to avoid all this unnecessary drama.

    Too bad!

You're right.  I remember seeing the issue a few times.  That is the reason I would always recommend filing a few days after the window opens.

It's the software glitch that several people had been suffering from when filed online up to a given hours on the very first day. Wherever the uscis cloud is based on, their timezone might me different. I guess not a lot of people (thousands and thousands) file it on that time period to trigger such sort of awareness to uscis.

It just became a $700 more expensive for you whether you appeal and win or apply for a new one.
