We got approved! Flew back to Tianjin to wait for the immigration packet and to celebrate Spring Festival with her family. The timing was great!

I just want to thank everyone who has been keeping their Timelines up to date. This helps everyone. And thank you for keeping me updated so I can keep the spreadsheet updated.

If you see others around VJ that need to be added to the sheet just post it. That will help. I try to police VJ but there's alot of people here.

Again Thank you so much all being so active answering questions and helping others it is greatly appreciated.

They don't keep the passport unless they are ready to put a visa in it.

It usually takes around 2 weeks - maybe 3.

Dead8oy got a reaction from RamonGomez in AP after Interview
    There were three interviewers:
Young Asian (at least part) male with American accent.
Middle-aged Asian female who did not converse in English.
Middle-aged Indian male with American accent.

None of them were what I would call hostile, though the only time anyone cracked a smile was when the young Asian male handed over the approval notice at the very end.

My wife has never been a member of the communist party and does not hold any affiliations. The questions all revolved around personal relationship history (we've been married over 2 years and have a very solid relationship background). Perhaps it's all just bad timing/luck on our part.

12/12 and still no change to the status.

I assume you are the sponsor, they brought you both in for the interview, for a CR1/IR1?  Was that how they scheduled it, or did they request you to come in unplanned?

5 to 6 days is reasonable this time of the year to wait for a status change.  With the holidays here, they are short-staffed, but also we are a month away from the Chinese Spring festival, so there's a high volume of people applying for tourist and student visas for the New Year.

Hopefully the official good news will come quick, my wife goes in for her interview next Monday, so we are nervously anticipating that day, and hoping for an early Christmas gift!

That is the same thing my stepdaughter received. We were a bit worried since all she got from the medical exam was vaccination record that says she's now up to date, and another page that shows a negative tuberculosis blood test. I don't even think they did the x-ray...

Well, you can call an attorney after they admit you into the USA, but while you're waiting in line, you are not allowed to call lawyers.

Also, keep in mind that CBP officers have a lot of discretion and are known to be petty and retaliatory. So if they hold your fiancee for 15 minutes for seemingly no reason and you get angry about that, they might decided to keep her there for two hours "looking into something" just because they can.

They can also order you to leave the secondary inspection area and decide to question her separately and make her cry and see if they can catch her in a mistake/lie.

I'm very much in favor of US citizens standing up the CBP officers and refusing to answer their questions when the US citizen is traveling alone. But when traveling with a visa holder, this is not a good idea, because she is very much at their mercy.

I will be escorting my fiancee through immigration end of Dec 2019, if they give me issues, they will face an upset US CITIZEN who will definitely call an attorney.

Thanks! My father-in-law arrived in the U.S. last night. I found out that there is no package inside the plastic bag. There are only 3 pages, two about social security number, and one about paying $220 fee. There is no CD of his x-ray. He just need to show his vaccine record from the medical examination.

We got the visa. Our timeline was:
    - Interview Tuesday
    - Visa Issued (and ready for pickup in Guangzhou, if pick-up requested) on Thursday
    - Visa Delivered (another city in Guangdong) on Friday

This was for a minor child, which I was told is a much simpler situation than adults (no crime/police/CPC issues, less likelihood of AP etc.).

I just checked on CGIFederal and the premium delivery time is stated to 1 day unless you live in a rural area. So you should get the visa the day after it's issued.

I have an update on this - apparently if you select pick up at the CITIC bank near the embassy in Guangzhou, the passport will be available for pick up as soon as it's received.

If you select another CITIC branch, or if you request delivery it will be another 1-3 days depending on the courier's speed, holidays, etc. My stepdaughter had her interview two days ago and the status just changed to issued a few hours ago, so we're hoping to get it by next Monday at the latest... we chose premium processing and she lives in Guangdong.

My father-in-law interviewed this morning and was approved. I submitted request to mail to home in Shanghai. The shipping fee will be paid upon receipt. Currently the status shows administrative processing. I am not sure how long it will take to reach my father-in-law's home given the Thanksgiving break.

We applied at the local SS office yesterday without any issues.  Although we had several pieces of documentation, they only asked for the I94 and passport although we also handed them the translated BC -- I'm not sure if they used it for anything.

I'm still a bit confused about the work part.  The person at the SS office asked if she already had EAD, I told them she had only arrived 10 days ago and they said they would correct this.  We were told it will take 3-4 weeks for them to review the application and send the card/response.

Ah yes - I also entered the address in Chinese characters. I was just trying to show where I put the phone number. I've also been advised by numerous sources to avoid pinyin if possible.
