dittoditto got a reaction from IRFUN in RFIE for Taiwan birth certificate?
You have to get the birth certificate that was issued from the hospital.

If the hospital doesn't have it or if it's gone (my husband's case) then the Household Registration Office (戶政事務所) should have a copy from the hospital.

My in-laws still live in Taiwan so it was easy for them to get. They took it next to a local translator and had it translated and certified.

USCIS accepted it after a few weeks.

Thank you, and congrats to your husband's approval as well!  In regards to parking, I guess luck was just on my side that day.  An RV could've parked there too without problems that day. Haha!

I know what the journey is like and I sincerely wish everyone on this thread the best and hope they receive their approvals soon.  The waiting is always the worst part.  I received my Green Card yesterday and I was over the moon!  I have 5 years to chill until the N-400 application.

Congrats on your approval. We were there last week and my husband got approval when we got home too. The tracking number says the card will be delivered tomorrow :-)

The day before our interview, our lawyer warned us about parking because the lot was full and people had to park on the side streets.  This freaked us out so we got there much earlier, but hung around in the parking lot.  For us, parking wasn't bad. But people's experiences may vary!

Good luck on your interview!  My F-1 family based AOS interview was last Friday, Jan 17th in the San Jose office.  Typically, I would've been assigned to San Francisco but because they are easing the backlog, they are sending cases to other CIS offices.  The SJ office is nice, clean and looks like it was recently remodeled. Parking was not difficult at all.  Lots of spaces to park!  The moment you enter the front door, even the security guards are very helpful and friendly.  They probably know that most folks that are there are experiencing some nerves so they do their best to lighten the mood.  The CIS officer that interviewed me was very friendly but very thorough.  They typically do not indicate the status of your case at the end of your interview but because my lawyer did an excellent job putting my application together, she said, "Wow, your application is complete and very well put together. I wish all cases were like this. All supporting documents are in order.  I am submitting your case for approval today."  My jaw dropped to the floor because this is not typical.  They don't really give approval on the spot.  By the time I got home, my case update said "New Card Is Being Produced".  I am extremely grateful and I am now only 5 years away from applying for US citizenship.

Helpful Tip: As soon as you clear security, you need to get a number from the Line 1 desk before sitting in the waiting room. Do not be late.  Check in 30 minutes before your appointment.  The desk clerk said that if anyone checks in 5 minutes before their appointment, they cannot accept them.  (Yikes!)  Keep us posted on your interview experience and case!

@dittoditto @PaulaMarie Nice!  The San Jose office must be running full steam ahead.   My wife's interview is scheduled for the end of this month at the San Jose office (located in Santa Clara) as well.     I hope you get your cards in the mail quickly!

As far as I know, it'll be in SJ. Once we get the letter (i think in 5 days). No, we're not military. Spouse is on a student visa. We're a same-sex couple, for what it's worth

We're scheduled for mid-January. It's happening! We thought it'd take 2 years for sure.

We recently got the text from USCIS saying our status changed. Looks like we'll be getting the Interview date in the mail. I'm so surprised since we are doing it through the San Jose office and it can take up to 2 years. So we're a little anxious and dying to know when. But about how far from the notice are interviews scheduled out?

We had our interview today and the officer told us we had been approved at the end of the interview! Our status online changed to card being produced just now. We are so happy that it was such a smooth interview and so pleased that we got a result straight away. I hope that everyone else gets similar experiences!

We're assigned to the San Jose office. We applied in March. Combo card in August. And just got notification that the interview has been scheduled. Haven't gotten the letter yet with the date but we're expecting the interview to take place 6 weeks from now.  Unexpectedly faster! We were expecting 2 years

My husband's EAD card is waiting for us in the mailbox, according to the tracking number. It will be nice to come home to after our labor day weekend vacation! Woohoo!
