Quick update.  Went to AP on Thursday and was issued by Friday midday.

Hi! You won’t get proof of case number until the NVC ships your case to the London embassy. Once it’s dispatched they send you a pdf copy. If you received your case number on 15/05 then your case should dispatch next Tuesday/Wednesday. As long as you schedule your medical for after Tuesday / Wednesday you’ll be fine. You won’t be able to schedule the interview until your case is dispatched / in transit to London.

I called Knightsbridge yesterday and thought I’d share this, for anyone else wanting to book quite far in advance, to save you ringing and waiting to get through for a long time (my wait was about 45 minutes).
 
Firstly, the number to call is 020 7486 7822. 
 
And secondly, I asked about booking an appointment in July and was told they open the bookings for each month in the previous month, a couple of weeks in. So, to book a July appointment, I need to call in the second week in June (well, that’s the earliest I can call).

as for the questions - they just asked how we met, what happened after we met until now, what we both do for work, how much the petitioner earns, what my plans are for when I move.
 
they did try to trick me a few times and phrase questions differently, they asked about my fiancées job at least 3 times. 
 
But all in all - “everything looks good so I’ll mark your case for approval. you should get your passport within a week”

Visa approved today in London! Interview is so short it’s sort of anti-climactic after all of this process but this part of the journey is complete! Thank you to everyone for all of your help and advice! 
 
Now on to marriage and AOS!!

Have you tried selecting immigrant; mine does that for me when I try and put in non immigrant.

So here's the things I can tell you that /should/ apply to you (your mileage may vary).
 
You are correct, your case should be shipped out to the UK Embassy on either the 14th or 15th of May. Knightsbridge will ask you if you have your Police Certificate in your possession - but you can always claim you have it and book the medical far out enough that you'll have it with you, you ideally should give a week between medical date and interview date, so this shouldn't impact you much anyway - you can always call up and have it moved if you haven't received it yet

Hi, Effy! you have the wrong month in your timeline for when the case number was assigned. I guess you are already focusing on May!
