  1. I just got an email notification today that I finally have an interview date scheduled, just need to wait on the snail mail to see when that is.

I'm at the Sacramento field office.  I did however contact my local congressman a few weeks back and got a reply back from USCIS stating

" Thank you for your recent inquiry on behalf of your constituent, Me Smug Face, concerning his pending 1-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

Our records indicate that this 1-485 was filed September 25, 2019, is under the jurisdiction of the Sacramento Field Office wasting in the queue to be scheduled for an interview

While our office has reopened, it is in a limited capacity with reduced waiting room occupancy limits, fewer daily appointments, interview time limits, social distancing requirements, between interview office sanitization requirements, and with other COVID-19 safety precautions. Please allow 90 days for our office to schedule this interview.

Thank you for the opportunity to help you and your constituent in this matter. I you have any questions, please

    feel free to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    Hoy Var

Well yeah, probably not up north...you guys just speak in grunts though, right? 😆🙈

    ...that's how we roll 😉

Funnily enough I've had a few young kids ask me why I'm speaking Spanish, and I'm like I don't k ow what kind of spanish your used to hearing kid, but this ain't it 😜

  3. Sweet, that's great news on your AOS, being approved, I am still patiently waiting for mine. Another 6 months and that will be the 2 year mark 😬. California does seem to be dragging it feets on the scheduling of interviews compared to other states.

Glad you guys are doing well, must be that stiff old British upper lip with regards to covid my household took it all very seriously too.  The wife and I have both been vaccinated, and doing our best to embrace life as it is at the moment.

Glad to hear you didn't suffer any damage to you house during your freak storm there @Wuozopo or any financial hardship by it's occurrence and are otherwise doing well 😊

I’m actually in Sac, so no chance of being assigned to Reno - must be frustrating for you though! When does the window open to renew the EAD? Mine expires in June.

Like I said I'm already on my second EAD, my first EAD expires 01/11/21, so I applied 6 months before (July 29th) it expires under the assumption that things where being processed slower and it maybe more than 6 months before I got a new card and then you have the 180 days on the other side of your expiring card if you have applied for a renewal so I had a big safety net.  However the processing time for the renewal was actually quite fast considering and I had my new card issued 11/23/20, so just shy of 4 months

@ConnorS what plan you use with giff gaff? I use their goodie bags but at least before it didnt include roaming in the US.

I don't use any of there plans now that I'm in the US and have been for over a year, I just top up £10 of credit to keep my line active once every 6 months and make an active call or text.

The UK number was primarily kept so that when I do banking with my UK accounts Halifax/Barclays, and have to reset online passwords, or I make purchases on amazon.co.uk and track parcels to family and friends (especially at this time of year 😜) .

..and of course I had though I would have visited the UK a couple of times again by now and topped up with a wee cheeky £10 goody bag whilst there, to tide me over but sadly covid has stripped me of that possibility at the moment.

  6. what phone where you thinking of buying?  My last 3 phones I have purchased have all been dual sim phones so I can rock 2 sim cards at the one time, one for my US sim the other for my UK sim, so I'm contactable on both at all times.  Funnily enough I had the exact same deal on three mobile as @SEWI and I remember being annoyed when they changed it to £20 and thinking I was being screwed, looking back I had it so good compared to here in the states 🤣😅. I changed from 3 to giff gaff due to 3's fair use policy, plus I only need to top it up £10 every six months to keep the line active and send a text or make a call, plus most calls back to the UK are over WhatsApp or instagram to family and friends, and if I have to call a UK business I've also used rebtel which is an app for cheap calls which is linked to my UK mobile number too.

Oneplus phones are great for dual sim purpose and they make high spec phones. However if your more the apple than android fan, there handsets will work just fine too.

  7. @mark08 not done mine as yet still awaiting my interview but from the many, many, many experiences I have read on here, it looks like you have everything in order, best of luck.

@Fe.Ta my EAD renewal just updated today to say it was in the post, but I also got a letter from them in the post today as well confirming both my EAD and AP have been extended, so wierd how yours didn't come as a combo card

On 11/23/2020 we got message on the app for EAD renewal “Card is being produced”.  When we get it, does this mean it will be EAD only and not combo card? Not that it matters, since we have the GC interview soon.  But, I am intrigued because we never got anything on AP renewal

Same for me, on the exact same date.  I'm gonna go out on a limb and say your AP will be on it too.  My AP number makes no mention of it being issued as of that date, but a similar thing happened the first time around and I got the combo card.  Just wish I would see some movement on the AOS interview front 😥

So I believe you're in the wrong part of the forum. That happens a lot.

This part of the forum is only for K1 AOS. ALL K1 AOS go to Chicago, they all receive MSC case numbers. Fe. Ta is adjusting from K1, therefore that's the only possible way for him. There's no way his case number is gonna be different than MSC.

That's why I can say that his package was delivered to the right location.

Yes like @Ayrton I delivered both mine to the chicago lock box in the same envelope and got an NOA for them both days apart.

Glad you guys got your interview @Fe.Ta, keep us posted on how it goes.

Did you already get the renewal approval for your EAD/AP? If so, how long did it take? Thanks!

No I have not received a new card/approval as yet.  I got the noa1 confirming they had received my application and it was being processed as of the 4th of August.  My current one doesn't expire until February of next year so I'm not concerned at the moment, and why worry it's not as though it's within my control, just gotta roll with the punches 🥊🤪

@Fe.Ta don't worry just chill, it will come, and will most likely be a receipt number one digit up from your ead's 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, I filed on December 31,2018 but I joined the January 2019 group.

How long does it take to get interview date after ready to be scheduled for an interview date update?

The answer to that is "how long is a piece of string?"

No one will be able to answer that, it varies dependant on your location/local field office and even then there maybe people file after you who have a simpler and more straight forward case, and maybe taken or approved before you at your field office.

I asked this question because I only needed to verify that. I am actually from January 2019 group and I only got an update today that my form I-485 is ready to be scheduled for an interview after the last update in February 12.

Hmmm, your time line is confusing me it says you filed in 18 not 19?!? But you say your a 2019 filer?!?

..but yes interviews are being scheduled some peeps even got issued without interview due to covid.  Unfortunately for me I'm waiting for Sacramento field office which seems to be one of the slowest and most backlogged

Isn’t that kinda old info phasing out this year. All carriers use LTE (4G and 5G).

Correct, but and that in itself can be an issue as different providers work on different LTE bands as well so not all phones are compatible again Verizon being the odd balls again having bands 13, 16 which not all manufactures program into their hardware (as so few networks around the world use them) and if your phone doesn't have those it may mean you have data access but an inability to call or text or visa versa

I think LTE was actually what I was intending to say all along @Wuozopo but my old goofy brain went back to the older tech 😅

Is there a reason why you chose giff gaff PAYG or was it the network you were just with?

And thank you so much for the info. Handy to know before committing to a contract (however cheap).

I chose them because they are based online exclusively, very easy to top up and the user interface is pretty easy to navigate and intuitive.  In the UK they piggy back on the o2 network.  But when roaming as Luke said earlier you bounce around to the best network available.  But for actual calls and texts it's emergency only.

Like you I have a dual sim phone.  My other sim here (US) is with mint mobile. On slight different tangent over here some networks work on gsm (T-Mobile) others work on CDMA (Verizon) so when choosing a network here you have to make sure your phones compatible.  All UK networks are GSM, so if you did decide to go with the likes of verizon make sure your phone is able to operate on CDMA.
