If the embassy or NVC mails anything to your fiancé, which is the address that he or she would give, with  confidence that the post office will deliver correctly?

that's  the one  I would use. If both work, use the first one that gives the district too.

all the best with your petition 😊

I totally agree with this. As long as it works, more information cannot be a bad thing. The first one is the style that we used on our application.

  2. My fiancee just completed her interview and was approved. I did a reasonable amount of front loading of the packet, and I also helped her prepare documentation out the wazoo of our relationship, in the end they didn't ask for any of it. The interview was short and sweet, and they asked the following 3 questions.

    1. Where did you meet?

    2. What does he do for work?

    3. Has he come to visit you?

After that, they told her congratulations, you've been approved and said she should get her passport and visa in 10 days. Hopefully someone finds this helpful.

  3. My fiancee's interview was today (well, last night for us in America) and she's been approved. Now we wait for her passport with visa to be returned. Despite a certain member basically wishing me bad luck, everything worked out perfectly. This was for Vietnam and she was asked the following 3 questions....

    1. Where did you meet?

    2. What does he do for work?

    3. Has he come to visit you?

I front loaded a reasonable amount, and she came documentation out the wazoo, in the end they didn't ask for any of it. Those of you still waiting, I wish you the best of luck.

Did anyone get any luck with updates on the DHL tracker?

My CEAC status says ready but no appointment dates available on ais.usvisa, I suppose the embassy will notify me once they have processed my application and then dates will become available? correct?

I have posted in my sub forum country but no responses all day...

Yes, and below are the settings I used.

In the English language the phrase "I wonder" can be construed as an underlying question. From your reply it seems you got this all figured out so I will dismiss your future questions which will save me time to answer the hundreds of other that I help. Good luck.

It can also be thinking out loud. If you are asking a question using English, you end it with a question mark (which looks like this ?) not a period. You have been helpful to myself and others, but your responses, in general, often have quite a bit of snark to them. If you want to help, help, no need to inject attitude into it unless you want to get the same reaction in kind. If it is too much trouble for you to answer a question, then don't.

Did you ask this question in the sub-forum for your embassy? Did you search the embassy webite? Do you have a copy of the P3 instructions?

You got to do some of the heavy lifting.

I was just thinking outloud, it wasn't a question, otherwise it would have a ? at the end of it. I have looked a little, but as I'm working, I don't have time to search deep at the moment, I was just sharing that I had the information.

But, for your information, I have looked at the website, I do have a copy of the instructions. You don't have to reply to everyone like it's your job greenbaum, especially if you are going to be a bit of a ####### about it.

Just a bit of caution with the use of the engagement photos and the visa process. Though it may not be true for your embassy but those in other countries have faced a higher amount of scrutiny when "engagement photos" are used for evidence of a continued relationship. Some applicants have used them in front of the CO and the CO interrupts the pictures of the engagement as a "wedding" and without notice DECLINES the visa application. This is typically a problem for those in India who dress in customary traditional clothing that is worn at a wedding. I'm not up on Vietnam and their customs but I just want to make you aware of it. I would hold the pictures close to the vest and only offer if they are asked by the CO. Just my experience and the experience of many others on VJ. Safe travels.

Thank you for the post. I had no intention of using those photos as evidence of relationship, we have plenty of pictures and I will be there in a month and plan on taking quite a bit more. I was already 99.9% sure that this was a no-go, but just wanted to confirm my suspicion. I've already made it clear to her that we cannot do anything like that, even if there's no gov't official documentation. Just don't want to risk it.

  8. I have, what I think is, a bit of an interesting question. My fiancee is in Vietnam and the family would like to have some type of party or ceremony there. I know that anything official before approval is a big no-no, and would then require a marriage visa, but what about something done AFTER the interview and approval? Can something like this be done in Vietnam, either officially or unofficially, or do we 100% have to marry in the US first. I would think an unofficial party would be fine anytime, as long as we don't actually get married, and photos aren't shared, but what about after approval? I apologize if this has been asked before and I missed it.

No my statement is directed at EVERYONE who was approved (NOA2)  and joined this thread May approvals included.

I am curious though, your post stated that the shipment is going out May 14th, but the doc that Greenbaum posted stated below. Which is correct?

    Quote

Shipments are made on every other Tuesday. Shipments for May 2019 will be May 7 and May 21.

Your answer seem to me that you glossed over the financials that I posted and then referred back to W2's. I just want to make sure that you know there is more to it then just tax transcripts and W2's. Remember the embassy can ask for just about anything to vet your visa application. Don't leave any rock upturned. JMHO.

Not glossed over, but if an Employer salary letter, pay stubs, 3 years of tax transcripts and W2s of a 6 figure salary aren't enough, especially when the consulate is really only asking for tax transcripts and W2's, then yeah, I'm in trouble. Everything else I've seen seems to indicate if your salary is high enough other assets don't need to be considered.

To be safe this is what is listed from USCIS that most embassy's use:

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form (https://www.uscis.gov/i-134) K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014)  Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p.

Having everything that is contained in the above will certainty cover all your "bases" for your interview.

W2's are easy enough to include. Thank you again for your help

There are more documents required for the interview then just the I-134 with tax transcripts. Second link, scroll down to "All Required Documents for the Interview" and you will see what is required.

Usually you will not receive the P3 letter in the mail. Do an online service request. They will respond typically in 2 -3 days with the instruction (P3). You will need to submit D-160 and pay the visa fee, then schedule the medical afterward. Technically, you will need the P3 to complete the medical exam, although some have gotten by with just the interview confirmation. I wouldn't risk it and would just request that they email it to you via: https://vn.usembassy...a-inquiry-form/  When using the form be sure to add in the comments section the last 4 digits of your SSN or they will email you back asking for it which causes further delays.

Here is some information including the Embassy P3 for you to get a head start

Thank you for the information. Yes, I knew there was more than just the I-134 and tax, I just was just specifically looking for info on what I needed to include with the I-134. I have seen that some required letters from the bank, employer, etc. I just wanted to confirm that I only needed the tax transcripts for this individual part, which based off of what you linked, is all that is required.

"Evidence of Support (Form I-134): The petitioner may complete an original signed Form I-134, Affidavit of Support for the principal applicant and one copy for each eligible travelling applicant. This form is also available at: www.uscis.gov/i-134. A photocopy of the petitioner’s IRS transcript or most recent U.S. federal income tax return, and any relevant W-2s, must be included."

  13. Does this sound like a good idea or is it too much. I was of course going to include pictures, receipts, etc. from meeting, but I was going to write a document that both described how we met, and in the document reference the included pictures and other documents. I just want to make sure I'm not over thinking this or doing something that will look funny.

    For example:

On the February 7th, 2019 we had our cruise together on the Carnival Elation (See page xx, copy of folio statement). When she wasn't working, we were spending time together either just the two of us or with my parents, so that we could all get to know each other (see photo packet, photos x-y). To say that my parents love her, and vice versa, is an understatement. Her day off coincided with "formal night" on the ship, so that gave us the chance to get all dressed up, and for her to go to dinner with us on the ship (See photo packet, photos x-y). When the cruise ended, we took the opportunity of her time off while the ship was docked to have breakfast together, her first time in a Cracker Barrel, and go to the Jacksonville zoo (See Jacksonville Zoo reciept and ticket stub as well as photos x-y)

  14. Hello,

I did some searching and found conflicting information, so I thought I would ask specifically about my situation. My Fiancee is from Vietnam but has been working as a casino dealer on cruise ships for over 5 years now. When she first started she picked a western name, Jennifer, to be called on the tables. She also uses this name for Facebook. When she joined a different cruise line, there was already a Jennifer, so she became Lee on that ship and that is also how I was introduced to her. On the form I was planning on listing both of those names under the aliases/nickname section, but I wanted to see if that was a mistake or anyone had a different opinion on it?
