  1. Hello

I recently bought three tickets for my husband's family (mom, dad, and little brother) to come visit for 10 days from England, June 28-July 8th. His dad has terminal cancer and the doctors gave him a year so this is the last time my husband will probably be able to see his dad. His mom recently sent me a link stating that they are suspending any travel until July and if they leave, they will be charged 5,000 pound a piece. Has anyone else heard this or do you think they'll be safe for travel. I know they have to have a negative covid test 72 hours before flying and they also were approved the ESTA.

Sensible they have travel insurance, I assume the mother and brother can obtain when restrictions are lifted. Not compulsory.

Medical side is the biggest element but travel insurance covers a lot of other areas.

Personally I think it is more likely by then that the UK will lift restrictions, not sure if the US will so they may be looking at 2 weeks in Mexico.

What do you mean 2 weeks in Mexico?

UK  is under lockdown and we can not be certain when he would be able to travel

There has been talk in the UK of maybe summer but do not know how realistic that is, well nobody does and I presume they also do not want to spend 2 weeks in Mexico.

Obviously he will not be able to get cover for cancer issues,  my Mother was able to get cover otherwise but every year it was a different insurer. The UK has no end of Insurers, used to be haf the adverts on the Tube were for Travel insurers.

When are they looking at coming?

Is it a requirement that they have insurance? And I know they’re under lockdown now but hoping it’ll be lifted. We’re looking at the 1st week in July.

  4. My husband moved over here (US) on a K-1 in 2019. His parents and little brother are coming to visit us from England for 10 days but we just found out that his dad has terminal cancer so now, more than ever we really want them to come visit however the doctors told his dad he’d need travel insurance. His parents said they’ve been denied by 4 different companies since his cancer is terminal (but I’m not sure which ones they’ve tried). Any recommendations for a good temporary travel insurance company?

  5. I married my husband (from the UK) last year and he's already received his green card. When my husband lived in the UK, he had a few cautions on his record that showed on his immigration background check. I am currently in the middle of a custody battle and my ex could (and knowing him, he probably will) ask for a background check on my husband. My question is, will his immigration stuff show up on that background check? He had ordered one back in England for a job and it said no arrests or charges but that wasn't for immigration. Since moving here, he has not done anything, not even a speeding ticket. I'm curious to see if immigration transfers his cautions (even though we don't have those in the US like the UK does) to his criminal background or will it show no criminal history?

Sounds ridiculous, right? Just like the K1 interview - I brought everything they asked for and they looked at less than half of it 😛

Well, I will bring it, even if I think it's nonsense. But I definitely don't want to be denied or get delays because I didn't bring sth they asked me to bring. Just hang it there, it will get better!

Yes, it is ridiculous. I'm ready to be done dealing with immigration already lol. But we still have the ROC and then actual citizenship. Hopefully it all goes by fast!

I had my AOS interview 2.5 years ago in Boise, and it was a pleasant experience. Nice and friendly interviewing officer just went over the I-485 with us, checked if everything was correct, took notes of changes in our situation (my husband had changed jobs and I had started working). She asked if we had any new evidence we wanted to submit, and we gave her a few things. And that was it!

    Good luck!

Oh that's good! My husband has changed jobs but I have all his paystubs!

That all sounds great.  Ours was 1/30/2020 in Seattle - right before COVID hit here at ground zero, so it was a normal face-to-face interview.

The officer went through the original I-485 to update info that had changed.  He did actually want to look at the wedding photos we had brought.  We each have two (grown/mostly grown) kids, and he asked my husband for all of their names and birthdates.

Definitely print out a new I-94.  We didn't know to do this, and husband had been across the border twice into BC.  The officer took photocopies of the passport stamps in lieu of this.

Husband was asked for address of employer's HQ, which he didn't have, lol.  It was quickly found by the officer on the Goog.

The officer took notes and typed into the computer.  Overall, it went well

Don't freak out if you don't get a decision straight away.  In fact, I think it took about 3 weeks for us to get the 'new card is being produced' message on the website.

They didn't request anything else or question anything - our field office is just one of those that takes > one year even to get an interview.  I'm sure the backups are even worse now since they were closed temporarily.

Thank you!! I do have all his I-94's but he hasn't gone anywhere since he's moved here. I hope we get the answer the same day but I'm so impatient lol.

  8. My AOS interview is this Thursday morning (9-24-20) in Boise, Idaho and I'm starting to get nervous. I have a huge binder with everything in it.

    1. All K-1, Affidavit of Support, and AOS paperwork I've ever sent/received

    2. Proof of income (my and hubby's paystubs/letter of employment/last year tax returns)

    3. Mine, my hubby's, and my children's birth certificates/passports/social security cards

    4. Our certified copy of marriage certificate and my divorce decree from previous husband

    5. A few pictures of our wedding and us together since he's moved here

    6. Deed from our house we bought together, utility bills with our names on it

Anything I'm missing or need/should add? What have been the typical questions asked lately? Any tips? Thank you!!

  9. I recently moved at the end of June. I immediately did the change of address with USCIS and even received the email confirming it. My husband had to send back his EAD card due to them spelling his middle name wrong and they just sent it back (I should have it in the mail today) however, they still sent it to our old address. (I have the UPS e-mail where they take a photo of all our mail for the day) We are currently waiting for his interview date for the AOS and I'm a little nervous they're going to send it to the old address and we'll miss it. Is there any way to make sure that they have the new address?

Bring original documents that got submitted as photocopies like the marriage license, etc.

Bring anything that you have joint as a married couple like bank account, auto insurance, photocopy driver licenses showing same address, maybe you added him to your health insurance or as a beneficiary of something, anything that has both names like a bill, the tax return, etc.  Just think what you have that indicates you are a married couple sharing a life and home. The new house deed or mortgage is a good one. People in a scammer marriage don’t buy houses together. You’ll do fine.
You don’t need your K1 file. That’s done and over.

Quick question, how long after your case changed to "Interview was Scheduled" did you receive it in the mail?

We brought quarterly statements, as well as several joint bills, dating back to when we commingled everything.  We had quite a lot, since our AOS interview was nearly 14 months after we married.  The idea was to show a pattern of ongoing commingling from the beginning, rather than  just a one-off account page, which could have been opened the day before.

    That makes sense. Thank you!

We brought wedding photos to our interview, and the IO did want to see them.  We also brought family photos taken during the time leading up to the interview, of my husband's daughters visiting, us with our dogs, our house etc.  I am not sure how useful the youtube videos would be, since you cannot submit video media.

Do you have any household bills together, such as utilities?  We had added my husband to our power bill and water bill.

Your other evidence of shared address and shared banking sounds perfect.

Do you have to show your entire Bank statement with a month of your finances or just the first page showing your names together and address?

  13. Our case status FINALLY changed to Scheduled the Interview and now were just waiting for the letter in the mail stating the date and time. I know to bring everything we sent in for his AOS package plus wedding photos. We just bought a house together last month so we'll have that. I did file 2019 taxes jointly, however, IRS still has not processed them so I guess I should just bring a copy of what I sent in? What else should we be bringing. I've seen some lists of things to bring but they're years ago and want to make sure nothing has changed that we do or do not need to bring for the interview.

Your husband doesn't need an updated medical; what matters for AOS is that your medical is current when the application is filed.

If you haven't started putting together additional documentation for your AOS interview, you can, though most of what they'd like to see is stuff that you probably have done already or were already planning on doing (create joint bank and/or credit card accounts, get medical insurance for your husband, etc.).

Okay perfect! And I haven't put much together as of yet. We just bought a house together and the first thing I did was put him on my bank accounts. He just became eligible for his medical through his work so we should be good. Other than making sure I print out our wedding photos to bring we should have more than enough proof.

What about after the AOS interview. Is there deadlines for anything else we need to do?

    Hi All,

I'm adjusting from K1 and applied for AOS in May 2019. Our interview was initially scheduled to be in March 2020 but was cancelled due to USCIS closure.

Our interview has been rescheduled to Aug in NJ (yayy!).

They have sent us the standard interview prep letter and in list of documents needed, they have stated:

A completed medical examination (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed environment (unless already submitted).

We submitted vaccination supplement with I-485 and medical was completed for K-1 visa.

My understanding is, if the interview was completed in March 2020, new I-693 was not required. But if the medical is older than 1 year,  a new medical examination is required for the interview.

In current covid19 situation, I'm trying to avoid going to the clinic unless absolutely necessary. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to wait till interview and see if they really require a new medical?

Anyone else have been in a similar situation?

    Any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated!

This is were I'm at as well. I applied for AOS October 8, 2019 and my husbands medical was done in London I believe some time in June of 2019. I'm still waiting for an interview date and I don't know if we need an updated medical done.

  16. My husband came to America from the UK in August 2019 and we were married October 5, 2019. AOS was sent in on the 8th of October. His AOS status is "Case is ready to be Scheduled for an Interview" since April 30th. Is there anything we need to do until then such as needing an updated medical? He had it done with all his updated shots right before coming over. Just not sure if anything expires since we're coming up on that year mark in 2 months since we've filed for AOS. Also, after his interview and hoping we're approved... what steps need to be done after that? Thank you!

  17. I sent our AOS with the AP/EAD in on October 8, 2019. On March 11, 2020, we send in to expedite my husbands EAD card for a job. On April 30th, we received his card in the mail, however, they spelled his middle name wrong so we sent it back in to have it fixed on May 15th. The case updated to "Name was updated" on June 17th and they still haven't shipped his card back to us. Our AOS was updated to "Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview" on April 30th and we still haven't heard anything.
