And about the vaccinations: no good doctor would suggest to just redo every vaccination, they should suggest a titer test otherwise run and find a better doctor 😄

Yes, we will ask, right now we are so overwhelmed disapointed and frustrated we are of the mindset "Just suck it up buttercup" and do it rather then chance they will give us more headache.  It was the civil surgeon himself that refused to fill out the form unless he had the vaccination records so...🤷‍♀️

It would have been nice right to get one of those courtesy letters!! Or even be given an RFE or told what to do next but we have been left in the dark. I was advised it's a 50/50 chance of even finding my medical file so I may need to redo mine too. How did you go about finding a local civil surgeon? Was it easy to arrange?

Wishing you the best of luck with the vax!

There is a list of civil surgeons on USCIS's website.  Type in your zip code for local.  Call around for pricing, but be forwarned they are all rather expensive 😕  Best of luck to you as well, I keep saying chin up we're in the home stretch.

The courtesy letters have nothing to do with if they have your file or not, it's a generic letter. Some get them, some don't but it's not an indicator for a missing file.

Don't you have vaccination records? Like what did you took to your original exam to prove your vaccinations? Or get a titer test done. That should be fairly cheap

Right its generic but they send them out to people who do not have a medical in their file for whatever reason.  It gives a chance to make up for the deficiency prior to the interview rather then have someone come only to get slapped in the face.  So why do "some" get them and some not?  Doesn't make sense.  As for the vaccination records yes we had them but stupidly gave them to the interviewer and I already said our bad we should have had a copy guess in the moment we were flustered, again, shouldn't she have know we would have needed them?

I guess my post serves as a warning to dot your i's and cross your t's cuz even when you think everythings in order you never know.

  4. Wow! our person didn't even offer that as an option!  She said it probably is sitting in a dead file somewhere and to just get it redone...she said she's seen this too many times....grrrrr.....like I said exam part was already redone now just have to figure out something with the vaccines.  Oh yeh, another frustrating thing is that I've seen people get "courtesy letters" before the exam stating that the 693 was not in their files.  Guess our person wasn't feeling very courteous!

She gifted us with a lovely RFE printed out on the spot dated the day of the interview.  Starting to get used to all these roadblocks.

Hey Meg101, you may want to try calling uscis to see the status. Talk to a tier 2. I just had my husband call about where his packet was, and the tier 2 officer told him that his green card is already in production and we will be getting it in about 5 days! Woohoo!

OMG I posted to the regular AOS about this and noone responded but we had the same thing happen, interview was Oct.8 "they" lost our medical records (who? POE? NBC? field office?) and were advised by the less then pleasant agent that there was nothing that could be done, this happens all the time, to go have the exam redone at a cost to us, which we stupidly did, now the new problem is she kept the vaccination records (yes I know I know we should have had a copy) and the civil surgeon needs them to complete the 693. Oh yeh you know there is no way to get a hold of a field office, no phone #, and we even drove back down there as luck would have it they "were out for training" we have called the call center, spoke to TWO tier 2 agents (one was the one who advised us to drive back down there) and the other one said "there is nothing they can do" so now we are out $400 for the medical exam and most likely will have to re-do the vaccines for another $200

So how did things shake out for you?  We were never told she could put in a request,,,,

  6. Following on the course of if anything could go wrong it will, interview for GC was today.  They informed they never received the medical records from POE.  Our proof of immunizations and whatever was put on the CD they gave us wasn't enough.  Interview was a bit snippy although she did admit she has seen this before.

Two things.  Now we have to have medical done over at our cost thru no fault of our own (between $400 and over $600 depending what is on the cd)

ALSO I have seen others on this forum that have received a "courtesy letter" informing them that USCIC did not have their medical.  Well, we did NOT get one, so obviously our field office was not feeling so courteous!  Instead she printed out an RFIE dated today, October 8, asking for medical records.

Anyone have a similar experience and if so how did it shake out?  Thanks in advance!!

That's awesome to hear, congratulations on your work permit!

I also got a RFIE asking for an original copy of my birth certificate and on March 23 we were "ready to be scheduled for an interview". Do you remember which office did you have to send your RFIE? Im my case, I had to send to St. Louis, MO.

Thanks!  The NBC in Lees Summit MO

  8. We actually just received the work permit in today's mail.  We had a strange course   We had gotten an RFIE for our i-485 response on march 20, on April 10 we were "ready to be scheduled for an interview" and today, less then a week later, we got our work permit in the mail.  I think that if there was no rhyme or reason as to how they did things before, there is even less now (but I'm not complaining lol)  Good luck!

People that got approved without an interview had an interview scheduled and cancelled, which is not op's case. And they either received the case was approved status or a request to send evidence before the final decision. Again, not the op's scenario.

Hi!  If you scroll up you'll see that I answered my own question.  Of course we will know for sure tomarrow when "it's" delivered, but after checking the USCIS website we determined its our work permit.  We are well aware of the uncertainty of a face to face interview but we'll take any little bit of good news at this point!  Stay well 😀

Congratulations on your EAD, then! To answer your question, and I'm sure my answer is irrelevant because everything's changed with social distancing, but after that status update we got a letter with the interview appointment. It's very possible you will just see your status change to show that you've been approved and your green card will be issued. It seems they are waiving many interviews. Keep up posted!! I'm excited for you!

    Hi Jersey Friend!

Yeh silly me, I was so obsessed with the status of the AOS I never thought to check the status of the EAD hence my original question!  While this is all wonderful news for us, and we feel so blessed, we're just praying that we can all come safely out of our homes😷 soon and go back to some sort of normal life where we can actually utilize it!  Stay well!

can your husband go into the website called e-devlet, does he have an account activated there? If so let me know so I can guide you through that and if not I’ll guide you the other route but e-devlet is easier and more accurate

We got the bc from e-devlet, and had it translated by rush.translate.  However we sent it with only two weeks left of validity.  Since with the cornona virus thing we had limits to a printer and scanner,  we did our best, ordered another bc and had it printed at local walgreens.  problem is it came out on glossy "photo" paper.  I did write "time sensitive" on our cover letter in regards to the bc.  Do you know if they are strict with the barcode? (we sent both)

FINALLY sent in my RFIE documents. Now we wait and see if they still process some parts, or if they are going to shut down until all of this is over.

I hope everyone is staying strong through all of this. Don't forget, we are all in this together.

We sent our RFIE in Wednesday 3/18 express mail, they received it next day, and Friday we got the notice that online Request for Evidence was received.

Now hoping they work on them quickly.  Good luck!

Hi, other Jersey person! We had a wonderful experience at the Mt. Laurel field office. As my husband and I waited to be called, we watched the adjudicators come out to call other people ahead of us and they all seemed so upbeat and friendly. The woman who called us, Heather, was lovely! The interview was quick, easy, and even fun! I hope you have the same experience. It's easy to get to, as well, and there is a Starbucks within walking distance - in case you get there early like we did. Best of luck to you!

    Hey back Jersey!

Right now we're so stressed hoping we even get that far!  If you don't mind, can I pm you to discuss the whole i-864, social security and AGI thing?  Thanks! 😂

I've been in a similar situation, I think. I collect Social Security Retirement Benefits each month in addition to working. Because the SSA income is not taxable, it is not added into my total income on my 1040. The amount is on the form, it just doesn't get added in. I was concerned that the person adjudicating my case would not understand ,or notice, this. It sounds like the same kind of concern you have. With my I-864 I included, in addition to my tax transcripts and pay stubs, a letter from Social Security which states my monthly and annual income from them and bank statements which show the amounts that are deposited monthly. This way, they can see that I do, indeed, have this income.  I also wrote a letter explaining this.  So far, so good. Our application was approved and our interview is coming up on December 20th. We will take with us copies of these documents, as well as the most current statements. If the CO is confused, I will be able to explain and produce the supporting documents. Best of luck to you!

Wow you are the first person I have found after scouring thru these threads that has a similar situation.  We got an RFIE asking for i-864 amungst other things (it was already included and there was no explanation as to what was wrong either in the letter or speaking to a tier 2 person)  The joint sponsor is on social security retirement benefits and putting the AGI in line 24a in pt 6 does not look good!  In fact I wasnt even sure that I was correctly understanding what this line needed!  We are about to send it back, but nobody has given us a straight up answer as to WHAT to put in that line, and if by putting what "appears" to be insufficient income will hurt us even though actual income meets the poverty guidelines.  You give us hope!

PS - shout out to a fellow Jersey person, we are in Manchester, and Mt.Laurel will be our field office too, hopefully sooner then later!
