Your son needs to be on the US soil to apply for asylum. There is a page on USCIS.gov what to do after that. He will be able to visit a motherland eventually. The hardest part is to prove that he is eligible to receive asylum/refugee status. Have to find a good lawyer who able to prepare good case. Unfortunately can’t help you with that. Good luck!

Thanks TTM and Lynx for your replies. Right or wrong, we don't trust that Putin will obey the constitution. We fear that he will arbitrarily draft classes of men who are not supposed to be eligible for the draft and we're not going to take that chance.

I appreciate the comments about the consequences of the decision before this young man. It is a very important decision and he should be 100% on board with it, I agree. But, he needs to make that decision with as much information and counseling as possible, which is why I am here asking.

Thanks for taking time to answer.

State University, but we don't trust Putin will keep his word. He said in March there would be no mobilization.

I decided to end the relationship, many here may know our case is in Warsaw embassy waiting for an interview. We got problems last meet in Moscow in July, we resumed talking later and I feel not good. I don’t think I need a heavy family life which I think I need to kill loneliness. I have some concerns.
    1. Bring and raise her and her daughters will take me extra 4000$ monthly, not including trips back to Russia annually and financial support to her mom, why not spending such money on myself? Almost enough to buy a good sugar baby and change every 3 months.
    2. I thought my life with her would be different from my previous marriage because my ex wife is a very successful professional and I was ignored in life completely and my Russian girlfriend will not goto work and should give me good care and companionship, our first meet was the best month in my life and I was very happy about that, but later meets proved all women are the same, they want to be head of household and make the rules in the family and control everything, she always put her kids on top of me and ignore me, she spent 3 days trying to book a Airbnb apartment in San Petersburg rather than giving me good care and attention, I was not happy and no trip to San Petersburg at all. So all women are the same, they are good at the very beginning and then will Change, my American girlfriend gave me great sex the first months and then lost patience and then we broke up and after sometime we make up and then she gave great sex again, so we should not be married at all, everything will change after marriage.
    3. I love dancing, clubs, bars and fine restaurants and drinks but she said that’s for younger people only, I will lose those hobbies after marriage I think, what we do in family life? Besides she doesn’t speak English, so after sex which she also wants to control, what we do?
So I will keep my simple single life, she already complained I am lying in bed too much, don’t fix my teeth quickly, marriage means breaking your comfort zone, I am too old to change I think, so just dating and no marriage would be the best to do

Sorry, having a hard time drumming up much sympathy for you for a comment like that. Women are PEOPLE, not commodities.

Also, when you marry someone with children, it is not out of line for them to put their children before you. I knew the deal when I got married to a man who has a daughter living in another country. We put her needs always above mine. Always. I'm a grown woman who can take care of herself; children need parents. If you can't accept that, you should not date/marry a mother unless her children are adults and out of the house.

Take a break from dating/marrying/acquiring and recycling sugar babies and work on yourself. I'd give the same advice to anyone coming out of a marriage.

You learn your lesson. But you have no right to say all Russians are ruthless. I can tell how many Americans are Scammers online! You just found some pretty girl and imagined alot of unreal things and decided to jump and marry her so quick. Why couldn’t you find an American? Why you decided to bring a foreigner? I clearly saw red flags from your First post on here. I am just not very active in conversations here.

I am Russian and I have been with my American husband 10 years. He didn’t send me any money overseas, $0 and I was the one visiting him and spending MINE money. We both were very cautious. We married after 4 years being together and living together. Because no way I would marry some stranger after visiting him once!

As the other poster mentioned, overstay is only forgiven upon marriage to a US citizen. Once you become a USC, then I believe you can file for her no issue.

Yes, they relabeled my wife's passport biographic page like that and now asking for a new one  Also, her original police certificate is now expired (valid for 6 months only) and now we'll have to submit a new one together with translation. Something is going on here, I'm sure on my next re-submission they will come up with something else. At this point I have no hope of getting my family to US any time soon.

AnJay reacted to millefleur in Russian citizen success visiting on tourist visa
Just thought I would update here if anyone was wondering about a similar situation for Russian citizens since the war started. My MIL had a B visa that was issued almost 3 years ago but never visited due to the pandemic. She finally was able to visit the US last month via Istanbul. At the border, she had absolutely no issues entering on her B visa despite the war/political situation. The border guard asked her only standard questions including "Where is your husband?" to which she replied that he was in Russia. She was admitted shortly after and given a 6 month stay. The border agent did not speak Russian and she was not offered an interpreter so she just responded in the very limited English she knows.

Now her tourist visa expires this December so getting a new one will be a challenge. She contacted VFS Global and they are no longer doing renewals inside Russia, that stopped last year. So, most likely going to Warsaw or some other country is the only option. Just wanted to start this thread for others with Russian relatives and their tourist visa experiences.

I agree with @AnJay, take whatever the interview invitation letter asks you to take.  You can also look at the list that is contained in the N400 instructions.  More than likely the IO will not look at any of it, but better to be safe than end up with an RFE.

    Good Luck!

Here is the link for the instructions.  The interview required evidence list starts on page 11.

Just took my N-400 interview at the Burlington, VT Field Office, and pleased to say I passed. Interview was scheduled for 10am, but only got invited in at 10.25. Very friendly interviewer, lots of casual chit chat before hand. Started with some biometrics were a photo and then fingerprints were taken, then was asked the civics questions. These were:
Name a state that borders Canada Name your state Capital (Montpelier) Who is the current president Name one right only for US Citizens What did Susan B Anthony do What did Abraham Lincoln do  I got the first six questions correct, at which point I was was told I passed that part. I then had to read and write a sentence, which I have forgotten, but passed as well. We then went through the N400 application questions, quickly, and was told that I was approved, and would be scheduled for an Oath Ceremony in the next month or so.

Very happy to be almost done with this, and best of luck to everyone still going through this process.
