Zoeeeeeee got a reaction from fip & jim in What's missing
Yep - they have a separate number for the team that deal with kennel booking, but if you call the main number, they will give you the correct one to call...you then call them, check availability...before calling back the main line to book a human ticket for yourself for that date...and then calling the kennel line again to book! (You have to have your cabin booked before they’ll book a kennel)
They have 12 kennels on the QM2 - 6 for smaller dogs and 6 for larger dogs (though small ones can obviously go in there). Average wait times are 14-18 months (I booked it in August 2018, for November 2019).
It’s $1000 for a large kennel, $700 for a small kennel. They seem to really treat the dogs well and the visiting hours are pretty good too!
Let me know if you have any other Qs...I researched it that much, I feel like I know more about it than the people that work there 😆😆😆.
Totally worth it for this old bear though (yes, he does have that photo on his passport too 😆):

Zoeeeeeee reacted to Cryssiekins in When do you cease to be a resident of your original country?
I know when I left Canada, I ceased to be a
resident the moment I used the visa because my intent was to no longer reside in Canada. Therefore, by spirit of the law, I was ineligible for healthcare benefits in Ontario. By letter of the law, I could possibly have made the case based on presence testing before I left, but it wouldn’t have been ethical.
For me, I technically did not have a residence for 6.5 months until my greencard was approved (processing was much quicker then).
If your USC spouse has healthcare, they can add you to it, under special enrollment. Usually within 15-30 days of the special event (your wedding).

So, we spoke at length about this on another thread, so I won’t bore you with the teabag/Branson pickle lament again @LukeU!
I lived in LA for 6 months in 2017 and I think the only thing I didn’t stop missing was getting malt vinegar with chips (food-wise) and lush green grass (LA is fairly briwn as opposed to green, though currently they’re having an El Niño year, so that’s not entirely accurate right now!). However, as @Wuozopo said, for everything you ‘lose’, you gain something else instead - like, rather than doing ParkRun through green grass on Saturday, I’d run the Griffith Observatory hills on Wednesdays, as the sun rises over the Hollywood sign 😍.
My dog is coming with me, that was a non-negotiable factor.
I know I’ll miss my mum, so I moved in with her in December, so we could spend my last year here together (I’m expecting/hoping to move in November - we’ve had to delay stuff to wait for an available kennel on the Queen Mary 2, as my dog is too old to fly). I’m really glad I made that decision as I get to have real, quality time with her before I go - cook each other dinner etc, walk the dogs together, do yoga together 🙃.
Re money, I like to be independent, so am working my behind off to save - however, me and my fiancé already work as a joint operation when it comes to money - it doesn’t matter who pays what, because we’re a team. So, we both know that Herschell will be supporting me for many months and we’re cool with that. But I have made it clear that I don’t do hoovering and Herschell’s accepted that’ll always be a solo mission 😂😂.

Zoeeeeeee reacted to Sarge2155 in December 2018 I-129F (K1) Filers
Well hello December filers I know I've been away for awhile, but I am reading and I am seeing October filers get approved now so you all have to be itching in your skins now as it's getting very close now for December filers. Cases this year seem to be flying through as compared with when I filed in May 2018, but that's a good thing for you. In fact I just got approved March 7th, 300 days and 10 months later. I was the last of my group now I'll make this one of my new homes. Hoping to see many happy comments soon as the first of the December approvals start to roll in soon.

Eeeek! Are you going to hand it in now or are you waiting until your visa is in hand?

300 Days later just one day shy of 10 months just got word my case was approved March 7th waiting hard copy now. No RFE although I would have preferred to get one. I still don't know why it took so long for my case to be approved as you all know USCIS is not always forthcoming with their answers. For those still waiting this is further proof that your case too will be approved eventually. Try to stay focused and keep more in touch with your loved one throughout this extended time frame. I am pulling for each and everyone of you.

OH MY GOD, IT’S MOVING DAY!!
Congratulations and good luck @StaceF! Hope today goes smoothly for you and your POE at LAX is easy 🙂.
I’m just out for 2.5 weeks - we’re using this time to meet with officiants, go suit shopping for Herschell and pick a florist (wedding tasks) and spend a couple of days at Disney 🙂.

Hi everyone!
So, I’ve been stalking the November 18 filers thread and some of them have started getting their NOA2s (lots of October filers are also getting them/have got them already)...exciting that early November, non-expedited filers are starting to get them though...in a month, maybe we’ll start too! 😍

Hey, it’s been pretty cold in LA the last month, there was even snow (for about 20 minutes 😆) - you’ll definitely need some jumpers!
I’m heading out there for a visit in 3 weeks and am hoping to not be in jeans the whole time...

Thank you! Currently packing clothes and trying hard not to pack all of my jumpers 😂 I’ll always be a Brit at heart!
Wishing you all the best! I love having this forum as a little support group but also the wealth of knowledge and information has been absolutely incredible for getting us this far!
I can 2nd the crunchy Cheetos, the hot ones are my fave and I always used to bring them home (as many bags as I could pack) from a trip visiting my fiancé!

Zoeeeeeee reacted to helen83 in Medical in London experience today.
I went to London Knightsbridge today for my medical and wanted to share my experience to let others know there really isn't anything to worry about if your prepared.
The place was easier to find than I thought ( Also beware if your a Disney fan like me...the store is on route and a deadly place to go waste some time and costly too as the case was for me today ).
The receptionist was lovely. We had a chat and giggle over a few things as she took copies of my paperwork at the desk. She provided me with more paperwork, a questionnaire that's a little more in depth than the one you do in advance, a consent form and a pre check form and my pot for urine sample. I did my paperwork in the waiting room, took care of the urine sample took it all back to the desk and then was told to wait back in the waiting room.
Shortly a gentleman doctor called me in. We chatted over the questionnaire, he didn't ask many questions (but i have a simple medical history) and we chatted mostly about my plans and where I was moving too as he took the blood sample. He was very good, didn't feel a thing! Took about 5/10 mins then when finished back to the waiting room for the next stage.
Then another gentleman called me down about 5/10 mins later for the chest x ray part. Again very friendly, we chatted and laughed about a subject we discussed. Very simple procedure and again took no more than 5/10 mins and all done and back to the waiting room to wait for the nurse for the vaccinations review.
Another 5/10 mins and I was called down. We went over what I had and needed. Opted for the missing ones to be done there so paperwork was all in order for later. Again very friendly lady, chatted and laughed about things. Then back to the waiting room to wait for the receptionist to take payment and hand over paperwork that will be needed for AOS. Took just over an hour for the whole thing.
All that stressing and worrying over the past week for nothing. A very friendly and professional service. Except for 2 dead arms now it was painless!
Now to spend the next week needlessly stressing probably about the interview stage lol
Hope this review can help others relax a little about this stage!

Thank you for the update! It seems crazy to me that it is so difficult to transfer it!
I heard about QROPS too but after further investigation, regardless of the fees, I’m pretty sure I discovered that it doesn’t apply to the US. I think that would only work if we were moving to say Europe.
Thanks again for the update! I leave in 4 days 😍

Zoeeeeeee reacted to Unlockable in Engagement Photos with K1 petition?
@SueSaed
The above responses is the mistake you are making. You are trying to argue points instead of trying to put yourself in the shoes of an interviewing officer. The reason you are on here is because you have read stories on such ceremonies like yours have backfired for other members. It will NOT be up to you to decide if you are eligible for a fiance visa. The IO officer will likely not even entertain your statements about what is considered married or not. He or she will simply deny your case and tell you to apply for a spousal visa. Your situation is common and there are plenty of threads on here to show how people have been denied a K1 regardless of what they perceived as cultural norms.
You are posting what you hope will happen, but what is your back up plan in case your hopes aren't granted? You can approach this in several ways, arguing the point that you are not married, which will likely fall on deaf ears. Or prepare for the worse and come up with a back up plan in case of a denial.
My personal advice is to hold on to the hopes you have but have a well established back up plan to marry and file for spousal visa just in case you get denied.
Best of luck to you.
