As for whether it would be sufficient or not, that's a decision the IO will make based upon the totality of the circumstances. Having $500k+ is a positive factor, but is not a guarantee either.

In my opinion it will be a very unreasonable IO who would conclude someone with documented $500k assets in Canada would become a public charge in USA. Canada is not a fraud country where such evidence could be easily fabricated. But then we've seen stranger things when it comes to immigration and IO's.

Question regarding the "Intent to Marry Letter" required at the interview. 
 
Do we use the same template as for the one provided with the I-129F (but for the petitioner only)?

i.e. "I, XXXX XXXXX, do hereby state that I am legally able and willing to marry XXXX XXXXX, and intend to do so within 90 days of "her/his" entry into the United States with a K-1 Visa."

I just received another phone call from the consulate. They said that they are making an exception on my case and are mailing the new visas directly to my address via priority next day shipping. I should expect them to arrive on Monday.

Had my interview on 22nd May(Wed), got passport back w/ visa on 24th May (Friday). I had it sent directly to my home in Ottawa.

You will get Packet 3 in the mail, both you & your fiance.
 
After you get a NOA2 your documents will be sent to NVC, After NVC gets it it will be sent to US Montreal Embassy, once it is there your status on NVC case status website will be changed to "Ready." Once it is ready you can submit your Packet 3 check list & Passport biographic page by email to the Montreal embassy email and they will then send you packet 4.
 
To answer your question about Packet 3, both get it sent to them in the mail asking you to send it in.

Consulate will contact you when your petition is at the US Montreal Embassy. After that they will send you Packet 3, then you reply to it. They will send your Packet 4 by E-Mail, then you will schedule your Medical Exam and Interview. Right now is a good time to get your documents together for Packet 3.

You're right -- I think some of us here had our interviews prior to April 1 when the US petitioner could still enter.

Honestly, I read about it and it cements for me that if you have the means to pay for the expedited shipping, to do it.
